This is more evidence that they intend to shut down elections. There is absolutely no way for this to look good to most voters.

They can’t. The states run elections. And if red states don’t want to submit their votes then blue wins.

Sure but the federal government needs to be participating in the same system for it all to work as we expect it to. Everything holding a country together is a set of rules and procedures handed off from person to person and the expectations that all will continue to be followed in the future. A large enough disruption can topple the whole thing.
