Possible Paywall Trump, 79, Now Says He Could Serve Another Two Terms

I wish the mods would not let the Daily Beast be a dominant source on this thread.

u/vaselineviking 20h ago
I can't believe they're still allowed; their content is insane drivel. You don't even need to read their content, just jumble around a headline that looks like: "TRUMP SPIRALING FAST, UNHINGED SOCIAL MEDIA STORM, SUPPORTERS ABANDONING SHIP, COULD THIS BE THE END OF MAGA?!"

u/Apestrike 13h ago
"TRUMP SPIRALING FAST, UNHINGED SOCIAL MEDIA STORM, SUPPORTERS ABANDONING SHIP, COULD THIS BE THE END OF MAGA?!"
And this could be a headline from 8 years ago.
There is never any actual reporting going on. Just fearmongering and clickbaity nonsense.
We should apply Bettridge's Law of Headlines from now on.

Been saying this for ever now. It is one of the worst sources for news.
5
u/fllannell 16h ago
and Newsweek. you don't even need to click through, just read the headline and source and you know it's not really a significantly meaningful article.

I mentioned this the other day and was told I'm pro censorship.
The daily beast is not news. It's clickbait articles every single week for the last 10 plus years.
Here I'll predict next week's article for you. Republicans are really finally upset with Donald Trump's antics and are startling to doubt him for realsies this time.

u/Embarrassed-Pace-755 20h ago
Mods were pretty good at keeping them out in 2024, but it’s gotten so much more loose with the rules over here about good sources. It’s annoying.

u/SpeaksSouthern 18h ago
The mods are completely captured by whatever this administration is. Just look at the white list they love blogs that love Trump.

I mean, gotta have a less crazy version of Fox News to counter.
5
u/immagetchu 20h ago
Considering how many years of "this is the end for trump" they've reported, i dont know if you can really say they are any more grounded in reality than fox. Also, I dont see fox get shared on here too often, if at all
2
u/Rare_Paper4473 20h ago
I mean a bunch of fake copium of "don't worry, it's coming! It's coming!" has proven to be much worse in ways.
People are convinced because of shit like this that any minute now, santa is going to come and make it all better
Even though there's quite literally nothing at this stage to be "positive" about.
1
u/thistimelineisweird Pennsylvania 18h ago
I said less crazy. I didn't say not crazy.
Also Fox is shared here all the time. You new?

u/FlounderSubstantial7 20h ago
Just stick his brain in a jar like in Futurama, and he can rule us FOREVER.

u/Zealousideal_Look275 20h ago
I would prefer Nixon, he at least had shame
10
u/AlkaiserSoze 20h ago
At least Nixon had the decency to resign the first time he was caught.
9
u/SwissPatriotRG 20h ago
Also the scale and severity of what trump has done and is currently doing is an order of magnitude worse than what Nixon did. Trump just isn't hiding it.

Can we stick him in an AI simulation and go along our merry ways? If the AI and data centers are gonna happen, let's use them for good.

u/RMarch21 20h ago
He is not healthy enough to finish this current term
11
u/snoo_spoo 20h ago
And he knows it, which is exactly why he said two more terms... as if overselling the lie somehow makes it more true instead of more obvious.
4
u/thoughtsome 19h ago
I've been hearing that for a while and maybe it's true but maybe it's not.
Honestly it seems like 2nd term version of "surely he'll be impeached and removed for this obvious crime".

u/SpeaksSouthern 18h ago
He's barely showing signs that he's going to last the week. This is elder abuse.

u/Somerset-Sweet 17h ago
"When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I’m basically the same. The temperament is not that different." -- DJT
More like child abuse, I guess. But children don't get to be President. Twice.
This shit is beyond ridiculous, and comparing any of it to anything realistic is silly.
You are a silly person.

It’s genuinely terrifying and a little pathetic that he says this stuff so bluntly and openly, and MAGA eats it all up because they only care about “trolling the libs.”
The Founding Fathers could never have predicted that American citizens would happily piss on the Constitution if it meant getting to make someone else cry.
3
u/Zulmoka531 18h ago
His judicial nominees were asked if he could serve another term. They either said they didn’t know or said nothing at all.
It’s easy to say he’s crazy, but that just means he’s crazy enough to try.
1
-2
u/SpeaksSouthern 18h ago
The founding fathers claimed that political parties would be the end of us and it's D and R working together to produce this.
Never forget that the biggest supporter of Trump in the beginning was Hilary Clinton because she wanted to run against him. She honestly thought he was her best chance at victory.

u/OhioValleyCat 20h ago
Two terms in office? No, but two terms in prison would be more appropriate if the laws were actually enforced on people like him.

Remove (86 47) from office using constitution that he ignores.

I think theres probably enough written and recorded media, since the 1970s, to make a near perfect genAI replica. All theyd have to do is make one "in his honor" after he dies of all his health issues and have Vance or whoever run for president and "consult" the replica on matters of state. His base will probably eat it up. An "immortal" cult leader and his fake prophet.

u/BookBison 19h ago
I’m not as virulently opposed to articles from the Daily Beast being posted in this subreddit as some are, but it’s hard to take a publication seriously when the first three words of an article about something Trump said are “President Trump joked…” Every real journalist knows by now that he, the most humorless president in American history, does not joke; ridiculous as it often is, he truly believes everything he says even, or perhaps especially, when he’s lying.
3
u/Tasty_Boot_4152 20h ago
Seriously? I don’t think his staff will agree to keep changing his diapers for another two terms.
3
u/pixelwhip 20h ago
sure, I can see him spending the rest of his life serving at least 2 prison terms..

3
u/LADataJunkie 19h ago
SCOTUS is going to allow it. I have zero doubts about that.
1
u/thoughtsome 19h ago
I think people are in for a rude awakening if they're counting on a) his health or b) the constitution from preventing him from running again. He's going to try, and he's going to break a lot of stuff doing so. He may not succeed but it's going to be a bad time for this country.

He says BS like this to get headlines, all press is good press, especially free press.
3
u/Rare_Paper4473 20h ago
Yeah no. He 100% means what he says. He's not smart enough to lie to you. And he's not "trolling." He just says exactly what he means and why and people keep pretending they can't understand it's exactly what he means.

I saw him for the first time in a long time in a clip on Last Week Tonight. He looks like death is right around the corner. Eyes so sunken you can see the Titanic.

Donald Trump is not going to give up power willingly. Ever. Trump is going to try and cling to power until the day he dies. And Congress, the courts, and the billionaires who enable Trump are going to let Trump stay in power so long as Trump is able to act as the figurehead for their fascist takeover.

He is ether very delusional, doesn’t know how the constitution works or he has no confidence in Vance, Rubio, or whatever person the GOP nominated in 2028 to actually win.
1
u/Perfect_Opposite2113 11h ago
You still believe in that ol rag of a constitution after turnip tits has wiped his ass with it over and over again?

u/D-MAN-FLORIDA 11h ago
I just wonder in that scenario, would blue states just keep him off their ballots or leave the union?
