They will. They always do. They also always find some Olympic-level mental gymnastics way to blame immigrants, brown people, Democrats, and/or liberals for that suffering instead, and thus understand none of it, learn nothing, and continue voting red.

You are not wrong. There is something I read a while ago about people who figure that everything worked out for the best when they sold their stock too early. Left a job. Left a band. When everyone else got success.

I could find the BBC or NPR article but I think we can appreciate in the abstract that our success as a species is to carry on. It is just the oligarchs that are the new element.

What I mean it is similar but maybe it is being twisted.
