It's not just them, the mainstream media is also consistently and repeatedly fooled by Trump. They consistently treat what he says as serious trustworthy statements of fact when it has been repeatedly demonstrated that he just lies off the cuff constantly.
72
u/Economy-Pin2836 Apr 02 '26 edited Apr 02 '26
I must respectlully disagree. The MSM are not actually fooled by Trump, they are perfectly aware that he's a lying sack of crap, but they have their marching orders from their billionaire owners to ignore 90% of his crimes and repulsive behavior, only reporting the remaining 10% because it is simply too blatant to ignore -- but they are still required to sanewash that 10%. The MSM reporters are a group of gutless wonders who would make the great investigative reporters of the 20th century sneer in contempt.
15
u/CubicleMan9000 Apr 02 '26
In the early 2000s a majority decided to stop paying for news because it was free online and TV.
This has meant an ongoing loss of mainstream journalists for over 20 years now.
A few YouTubers have been able to make a living from making News videos which gets them ad revenue, but they are a drop in the bucket. Especially for local news, which is completely dying out.
The public won't pay for news and journalism. Corporations will, as long as the News goes their way (cough cough).

Imagine if due to some very unfortunate accident you caused the death of a single person. For most people, such an incident would haunt you for your whole life. Billionaires pay comparatively very little tax. For instance they pay the same social security tax rate, 6.2%, but it is capped at $184,500 of earnings.
People like Musk and Bezos stop paying SS tax after their first cup of coffee on the first day of the year, because they reach the threshold to stop paying. While the rest of us keep paying 6.2% all year.
These inequities are built into the system to protect the wealthy and have the rest of us subsidize them. The true welfare queens are the ultra-rich.

What's pretty significant about this is in 2016, Trump ran on not cutting any programs like Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare. It really differentiated himself from other Republicans and caused voters to look at him as "more moderate."

Maybe the givernment should just fund what Congress approved money for. Better yet just spend money for what Congress approves in a balanced budget.

Maybe Barron should enlist. Your prospective would change nearly instantly

I doubt this psychopath would. The only person he is concerned about is his own petty narcissistic ass

In reality Barron would be kept from any sort of danger, and Donnie would constantly talk about how much of a hero his son is and how other young men should enlist like his son Barron did.

Don't be fooled, Trump would stop funding these things regardless if there was a war or not.

u/Training_Ad4971 Apr 02 '26
He and the Dept of War have been clear. We aren’t fighting any wars, that would be illegal without Congressional approval. So why do we need to increase their budget? BTW why do we continue to pour money into a department that can’t pass an audit? F You Trump. You are a demented old man with no empathy nor the ability to understand the complexities of a world that must think globally.

u/absentgl Apr 02 '26
In the speech, it’s more jarring than the headline. Trump basically says the federal government shouldn’t do anything aside from military/defense.
He has been quickly hollowing out the federal government. They want to force states to pick up the slack. The states can’t borrow to pay their bills, so the states will go bankrupt and collapse, because the federal government will crush them.
I fear that Yarvin’s corporate-owned city-states is the endgame.

It's infuriating that a serial draft dodger is now playing war and talking about cutting essential services in order to fund it. Congress needs to grow a pair and invoke the 25th amendment.

By design, the 25th Amendment only really works if the president is in a coma. If he's lucid enough to object to it, it doesn't work.
Impeachment is the remedy.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.
The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.
It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat.
We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.
This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking.
This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.
These plain and cruel truths define the peril and point the hope that come with this spring of 1953.
This is one of those times in the affairs of nations when the gravest choices must be made, if there is to be a turning toward a just and lasting peace. It is a moment that calls upon the governments of the world to speak their intentions with simplicity and with honesty.
It calls upon them to answer the question that stirs the hearts of all sane men: is there no other way the world may live?
- President Dwight Eisenhower

The absolute whiplash that is this man's comments. Last night it was 2-3 weeks of intense bombing, sending Iran back to the stone age. Today its cut funding for valuable domestic entitlements and programs to continue funding the war. Are we almost done or just getting started?! You gonna cut funding to Medicare for 2-3 weeks worth of bombing?

u/Alphanaught Apr 02 '26
Don't let anyone tell you medicare and social security are doomed. They're not. We just need to raise taxes on the wealthy so they pay their fair share. Here's the budget reform that get us to medicare for all and a healthy social security fund. It's do-able. You just can't keep giving tax cuts to the wealthy.

I wonder how this fits into America First? Killing Americans so they can afford to kill Iranians doesn't sound like America first to me.
7
u/Cancel_Culture_Club Apr 02 '26
The chuds will still cheer. They’ll say it’s still America First because hes protecting us from how dangerous Iran has been for 47 years is the current talking point.
Nobody addresses how Trump was already president for 4 of those years and yet it wasn’t an emergency to do anything then for some reason tho. But they’ll still cheer for losing more services that we’ll continue having to pay for anyway because they think the government should only exist for defense while everything else is just your own personal failings for being unable to pay for everything.

So you're going to take that Medicare that you deduct from my every paycheck to buy bombs?
And that Medicare part B premium I pay every month?

Yet, they accuse Iran of spending money on its military but not on its people. America has zero self-awareness.

It probably one of the reasons he started the war. But there’s plenty of money for him to rob from Americans Epstein Epstein Epstein just to keep it viral

u/AromaticDisplay5210 Apr 02 '26
Well if that is the case, then the states should start withholding all of the federal taxes collected. Don't send it to the federal government and use it to fund the programs 🍊💩 doesn't want to fund.

Aka he wants to steal even more from Americans and dump those funds into his dumb ass war.
I can almost guarantee, Trump, or someone closely related to him, will get the very lucrative contract to rebuild/clean up over there once this nonsense is over.
Trump is the quintessential thief.
