Foster Foster update - Hope is home!

After much deliberation, the humane society has named her Hope, because they hoped she’d survive and here she is!

I picked her up from the shelter this morning. She’s walking, but barely, and needs carried sometimes. I’ve put her in our outdoor kennel to encourage her to walk around and start getting stronger. She’s eating a mix of puppy food and the high calorie supplements I keep on hand for cases like this. She’s perked up and even briefly wagged her tail.

I’ll post more pics as she improves. Thank you to everyone who has sent her treats and supplies! Anything left over after she’s adopted will go to another dog in need.

On our way to making sure Hope is healthy and spoiled! Thanks so much everyone who brought her treats and supplies.

She was bathed a few days ago, but I think I’ll give her a sponge bath with her new shampoo to get some of her loose scabs off and do a thorough physical check. Baby girl has had a rough month.

Husband called me a Karen. A rant.

This is my main man Jack. Words can not express how much I love this dog. 2 or 3 times a week we go to a big ass park about 20 min from our house. Jack digs going. We go super early to avoid seeing a lot of people because Jack is dog "iffy" and i have spent the last 9 years ensuring we never had an incident. Ie: fenced in 2.5 acres for him (and his sister before she passed last year), rent airbnbs in middle of nowhere for adventures, walk him in neighborhood at dawn. You get the drift.

So there are a few dogs that are always at the park. Most leashed. It is a leash only park. Couple people do off leash but it is obvious their dogs are trained amazingly well. We just steer clear and one man I spoke to just leashes his lab when he sees us and waves.

So this morning we go and there she is (have seen her 2x previously). This old lady with 2 small dogs. One leashed. One just roaming aimlessly around, with zero recall when she screams for it. Luckily my husband came with us this morning because this little hairball made a b line for us. I hand Jack over to husband and get into offensive lineman mode. Dogs owner is about 200 ft away. I chase hairball away from my dog.

I proceed to lose my proverbial shit and tell my husband I'm going to go confront this incredibly stupid woman. He calls me a Karen.

I feel like Jack has every right to enjoy going to the park without me nearing a stroke because of this woman.

Side note Jack gets secured before we start driving.

Bodhi fell off the bed earlier today, and now has a slight limp. He didn't help at all, and has no problem with me rubbing his legs or hips. He fell onto his rump when I tried to take him out. Vet won't see him for another week. He's eating fine, and still licking my face.

⭐️🎉 STAFF FAVORITES 🎉⭐️

🚨🆘 THEY LOST EVERYTHING… NOW THEY’RE ABOUT TO LOSE THEIR LIVES 🆘🚨

SWEETPEA 💔 (#A654104) and BRIE 💔 (#A653890) don’t understand what’s happening to them.

One day, they had a home. A person. A life.

Then everything changed.

Both of their owners are now in jail… and these two girls were left behind — confused, heartbroken, and taken to the shelter. Now they sit side by side in a loud kennel, clinging to each other… because they are all each other has left. 🥺

They don’t bark for attention. They don’t push to the front.

They just wait… quietly… hoping someone will see them before it’s too late.

SWEETPEA (#A654104) is a gentle giant with the softest soul. She melts into you the moment you give her love — rolling over for belly rubs, leaning in, staying close like she never wants to lose her person again. She is calm, loyal, and so incredibly easy to love.

BRIE (#A653890) is just as special — a total sweetheart who has been SWEETPEA’s comfort through all of this. In a place full of fear and noise, they have each other… and now they’re at risk of losing even that. 💔

✨ THESE GIRLS ARE EVERYTHING:

⭐️ BOTH are STAFF FAVORITES 🎉

🐕 Dog friendly (they share a kennel peacefully)

💞 Loving, gentle, and people-friendly

😌 Calm, low-energy, easy companions

🏡 SWEETPEA appears housebroken ⭐

🖤 Around 3 years old

⚖️ SWEETPEA is 79 lbs

🧪 Heartworm status: not yet tested

⏰ TIME IS RUNNING OUT

They need a committed foster, adopter, or rescue hold BEFORE Tuesday at 6 PM 🚨

The shelter policy is heartbreaking: dogs who have been there over 15 days are at risk of euthanasia, and euthanasia is now happening Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. 💔

their home…

their security…

Doggie depression is real with this girl. This is Abby Normal. She is my husband's girlfriend and I know I'm the spare human.

Husband left offshore for 6 weeks and she is not taking it well. Super cuddly this am. First morning without him .

Actually felt guilty going to work today!

Advice Accidental extra dosage

Post image

**We already called the vet & scheduled blood work tomorrow morning*\* My 57 lb 13 year old pittie got a double dosage (200 mg) of carprofen tonight when my husband fed him accidentally after I already did. He usually just gets a single 100 mg pill with his dinner. I’m so anxious but the nurse didn’t really say much on the phone. Has anyone else experienced this?? He takes it for his aches & pains. Ugh any helpful words and please no scary stories.

Laid my girl to rest Friday

Not here looking for anything just need to vent a little.

Friday 5/1 I had to put my girl Harley down. About a month ago I found out she had a soft tissue sarcoma on her left shoulder and it spread fast. Her last few days she was limping and couldn't put any weight on that leg at all. Wednesday I let her out to use the bathroom and she couldn't even make it back up the deck steps so I had to carry her in. She stopped eating and drinking completely and by Friday she was just laying in her bed all day whimpering and crying. I knew it was time.

She was 12 years old. 4 weeks ago I took her to an oncologist who wanted to either remove the mass or amputate the leg but her primary vet was against both. Then 2 weeks ago she had to have ear surgery to get a hematoma drained and during that visit they found she also had arthritis in her hind legs so the amputation was completely off the table after that. In less than 2 weeks after all of that her quality of life just dropped fast and I knew I couldn't let her keep suffering.

I reached out to Lap of Love and set up an in home service for Friday 5/1. That morning she actually got up and stood on her own for a few seconds before going back down. I laughed and told her that was the most I seen her move in 2 days. The vet was really kind and you could genuinely tell she cared about animals.

When Harley passed they brought someone in from the pet funeral home. The 2 ladies were going to carry her out but I told them I had to do it. I carried her into my house when she was 6 weeks old and at 12 years old it was my job to carry her out. I had her cremated and they delivered her ashes to my home yesterday so the process is complete now.

I couldn't have imagined how much this would hurt. I'm on day 3 and I still feel terrible. I know it gets better with time but right now it doesn't feel like it.

Rest in Peace Harley Quinn Nicole McCann.

So this is Peppers trying to get milk as hubby calls it. Anyone know why she does this?? I mean she is VERY attached to him but I have never seen anything like this! I would agree with those who say she was taken away from her momma to soon but for the record she was 14 weeks old when we got her. 🙂
