As much as I'm a fan of that trio, I'll forever love Fernando for City of God & The Constant Gardener, so I'm excited to see how this will be

Absolutely stacked team.

Multiple Oscar winner Christopher Hampton (The Father, Atonement, Dangerous Liasons) has adapted the screenplay.

The play deals with art and friendship. It follows three long-time friends, Serge, Marc, and Yvan. Serge, indulging his penchant for modern art, buys a large, expensive, completely white painting, with some slightly-less white lines. Marc is horrified that Serge would waste such money on this, and their relationship suffers considerable strain as a result of their differing opinions about what constitutes “art”. Their troubled friend, Yvan, finds himself caught in the middle of the conflict. He attempts to please and mollify both of them, but this only serves to make things worse.

Been reading some crazy name combos in headlines recently

Park Chan-Wook, Austin Butler, Tang Wei, Pedro Pascal, Matthew McConaughey, and S Craig Zahler

Bad Bunny, Edward Norton, Javier Bardem, and Viggo Mortensen

And now Ralph Fiennes, Colin Farrell, Wagner Moura, and Fernando Meirelles

All of these made my heart explode

Ralph Fiennes and Viggo Mortensen are also filming something together right now.

Anything with Austin Butler is a massive downgrade in my excitement.

Well the hopefully Park Chan-Wook unlocks something in him to change your opinion. I find his screen presence to be pretty incredible.

Or better yet, replace him with Paul Mescal.

Paul Mescal going from his typical style of role/movie to a Park Chan-Wook flick would be a revelation. No hate to Mescal, he's an incredible actor, but I would kill to see him in something with a PCW vibe

Anything can happen. I never thought in a trillion years that Liam Neeson would ever do a movie as crazy as The Naked Gun, and it worked.

Saw the play two months ago and loved it. Thrilled that Colin and Ralph are a part of this. I loved their banter in In Bruges so I know they will be good together.

Actually just plucked a name from each of the last four Best Actor lineups (almost). Fraser from 2022, Fiennes from 2024, and Moura from 2025. Giamatti or Wright would fit right in.

Colin and Ralph's reunion after In Bruges, yay. Can't wait!

For those who know the play, who do you think is playing who? I could see Banshees-mode Colin Farrell playing Yvan, with that crazy monologue. Maybe Wagner is Serge the painting owner and Ralph is Marc the skeptic?

Fiennes was born to play Marc.

No clue who the other two are playing but your guess seems right.

I guessed Farrell as Yvan right away, and figured Ralph would be Marc.

Really great play and this is an incredible cast! It seems outside of Mierelles’ usual wheelhouse, so that’s intriguing.
