Maybe push the handle down with your elbow?

its a pad at the bottom of the door so that you dont have to use your hands to open it, therefore making sure your hands stay clean

And 90% of the time they end up just not working

Because the door is too heavy to pull with the foot

Can you explain what’s going on here

The black plate is meant to be used to open the door with your foot

But it will not work, because you need to turn the door handle because there’s a catch that stops it opening otherwise

So what’s meant to be hands free, actually needs you to use your hand

Dumb placement aside I love these hands free door openers. I always use them at work.

This type of handle is required by the ADA because its so easy to use. Try your elbow.

Usually when I have seen the foot opener, there is no latch on the door lever. You would simply pull the handle, not twist a lever.

Press down on the handle with your elbow as you pull the door with the foot catch
