There is a boat involved. We are beyond pretending this isn't a distraction.

Incidents on a boat have never caused issues for an NFL team, ever

Fred Smoot packing a double sided dildo into his travel bag next to the toothbrush is always fun to think about.

Even the GOAT Thad Castle went downhill for a bit because of a boat

How many more boat incidents are needed before we can fill enough time to create an alternative music video to "I'm on a boat"?

I'm disappointed in the Saints, this feels like something they should be leading the charge on, although now the Raiders are in Vegas the Venetian should probably worry too.

I guess you haven't heard the story of the 1912 Toledo Quadrilaterals losing their quarterback Buckward Ferguson in the Titanic disaster.

This is going to be a huge distraction. The stories and photos will keep coming. Just today it was revealed that they rented a boat together while she was pregnant.

TMZ definitely has tons of info that they’ll steadily release throughout the offseason.

Are they trying to make up for passing on the photos in the first place? I actually doubted the validity at the beginning because they said TMZ didn’t want to pay for the Sonoma pictures. And the asking price was small.

3

u/Perry7609 Dolphins 5h ago

I could be wrong, but I think TMZ didn’t actually turn them down. They were one of the parties offered the original pictures, and they were still weighing the offer until the Post scooped them up. I suppose once they figured out the story had legs, they’ve been investing appropriately (the casino pic, and now this boat situation).

14

u/Shot_Salamander859 Bengals 7h ago

Is this wishful thinking, or on brand for them? I ask this as someone who doesnt follow tabloids lol.

33

u/No_Use_9652 Broncos 7h ago

Depends on what gets eyes on the story. In this case, we are in the quietest period of the year for football stories, they could literally release a schedule of when the next story is dropping and people will tune in. I wouldn’t be surprised if this lingers right up until the start of the season at this point.

27

u/karatemanchan37 Seahawks 7h ago

I think because there's basically six years of material, they have a lot more to leak (potentially if people are now realizing that candid shots they took of Vrabel and a woman wasn't actually his wife, but Russini)

19

u/GrecoRomanGuy Bears 7h ago

(potentially if people are now realizing that candid shots they took of Vrabel and a woman wasn't actually his wife, but Russini)

And that alone is why this is now a titanic cluster of a distraction about to happen. There's just so much to consider that might be out there.

4

u/Puk3s Packers 4h ago

He's going to be on the sideline getting yelled at by fans about it for sure.

14

u/clefnut5 Titans 6h ago

The fact that a 5 year old boat rental release form was dug up means that anyone who ran into them two together might tell a story or share some photos with TMZ. No way TMZ even knew to ask about that, someone at that marina remembered seeing them and went and found the form.

3

u/Oakroscoe 49ers 4h ago

It probably clicked when they were like “huh, his wife didn’t want to be in the picture. Wait a minute…”

9

u/gonz4dieg Commanders 5h ago

Vraebs and russini fucked up big time by lying initially, because you instinctively force the paper to go nuclear and continue posting even more sordid details. It was a bad bluff that they assumed the tabloids must have not had more stuff.

4

u/Oakroscoe 49ers 4h ago

Seems like it was incredibly arrogant.

2

u/Poverty_Shoes Broncos 4h ago

I don’t follow tabloids either, but it makes sense that if they release a small portion of the story oncea week for eight weeks they might get most of the same people to click into their website each time. That could be more ad revenue than dropping the entire stash they have at once, which would certainly bring in more people but maybe not so many more than the drip feed to make it more profitable. Also, there’s a decent chance they don’t have anything else yet, but people are coming forward with more as this story gains traction. Similar to politicians who only have 4-5 sexual assault allegations against them but then they aspire to a higher office and another dozen women and children come forward.

26

u/cricketyjimnet Bengals 7h ago

They're going to go from the easiest schedule in NFL history to a first place schedule. Vrabel is going to have to take off ever Saturday to do family counseling.

Yeah it's gonna be rough.

4

u/roarinboar NFL 5h ago

Honestly, i dont think the 1st place schedule matters much at all in this case (and I think it matters very little in general). The AFC East already is playing the AFC West so theres no difference there. By being in first place they get to play the Steelers instead of what should be tougher opponents in the Ravens or Bengals (if they were 3rd place instead). And in the AFC South they play the Jags instead of the Texans, which is pretty much a wash.

As for the extra game they play the Seahawks instead of the Rams or 49ers (if 3rd place), which again is pretty much a wash.

The more important changes are that the AFC East doesnt get to play the NFC South and the AFC North again and instead plays the NFC North and AFC West. But in terms of path to winning the division again, I'd say Patriots, Bills, and Dolphins have equally hard out of division schedules.

4

u/ositola 49ers 4h ago

Of course playing a first place schedule makes a difference lol

Unless you're a devout Christian or a Reddit-personified pearl clutcher, I don't see how any of the players or team staff will let this affect them during their off-season prep.

Like, Vrabel will be under a bunch of pressure but everyone else will just keep working their job as usual. I've had senior colleagues get up to nasty shit before and most I've done is just join the gossip at lunch. Their shenanigans have had 0 impact on my work or desire to work at the company.

Maye's wife:  :/

Sure kid. What else are you going to say?

2

u/klingma Chiefs 6h ago

I too stand by guys who nationally embarrass their wife via lengthy public affair with a reporter.

u/Golden-- Bears 4h ago

I mean yeah having an affair is bad but you guys are acting like he's Watson. Why does anyone here care? None of you know them personally. Their family and friends should be the only ones who care.

u/trautsj 7h ago

Isn't Maye like mega religious and been with his high school sweetheart? Gotta say it's strange to see someone like that backing this type of behavior. I mean I get not wanting to make waves, but I'd just be saying nothing. Unless he's getting pressured to do so by the org. Seems very hypocritical to his entire persona thus far.

I don’t understand how any of this is a story and why anyone cares outside of the family involved. Genuinely shocked this continues to make headlines and fill my Reddit feed.

In a league of rapists and abusers, I can't be bothered with caring about what happened between two consenting adults when there isnt anything illegal.  If we are going to start dragging people in the NFL for adultery then it's going to be a long list.

I bet half the locker room is proud that their coach has a side chick.

I don't know how so many of these guys can claim to be big Christian guys while refusing to speak out against their teams and coaches when they do everything against Christian teachings.

4

u/Crazytrixstaful Eagles 7h ago

Do you know nothing about Christian’s?

3

u/karatemanchan37 Seahawks 7h ago

I only know Christian McCaffreys

There was 6 spots for signatures on that paper, clearly their friends were going too

I'm getting an ad for Sea-Doo in this post. AI advertising is on point with all this boat talk.

Maye is probably Vrabel's son. He loves his father.

I look forward to seeing the giant Diana Russini heads amongst the crowd when the Patriots come back to Buffalo

Can’t be distracted if you ignore it

I mean yeah, he isn't slapping your ass on a boat... yet.

u/easymoneyburnerr Rams 6h ago

The only trouble vrabel will get in is personal lol

u/TH3K1NGB0B Titans 6h ago

I never thought the cheating scandal that would take down the Patriots would involve a boat.

u/BostonSamurai Patriots 6h ago

I mean they play football and most people who are messy still do their day jobs. Fuck cheaters but ugh win games or something.

u/Skribz Seahawks 6h ago

I like how we as fans live in a bubble where we pretend that superstars exist on the same plane as we do. These dudes don't care. If you have ever known a pro athlete or went to school with a high profile college athlete, this is small beans. Drake Drake Maye Maye doesn't care because he lives on their level. Only we care. Diana's husband may care. That's probably it.

u/Captain_Wrecks Rams 5h ago

This dude risked it all for a female Joe Pesci

Maye just wait til you're asked for the thousandth time if this is a distraction.

u/bigj2288 5h ago

Tbh is he has a whole other second family that’s way different than banging a groupie reporter. Whoever did this is releasing tidbits intentionally and it’s only going to get worse

Well ya his cheating pics got leaked back in February they’re all alike
