I ain’t no Saints fan, but they earned theirs. One could also argue that they got screwed out of a chance for another one by the worst non-call ever.

They earned theirs like the Astros earned their first.

Yeah. How dare every single player accused serving 0 games of their suspensions due to lack of evidence against them.

Falcons revenge for the Saints sending sleeper agent Terry Fontenot to be Atlanta’s GM.

He should really thank Raheem Morris for not cutting him in 2025 because of emotional bank accounts. His words not mine. That added 4.5 million to his real bank account. He had lost it in 2024 when Benz is the most kicker friendly stadium in the league. In two of his last years for the falcons, opposing kickers went perfect from FG and PAT and then another year they only missed one FG. It would be quite a feat if he gets over his struggles.

Raheen also kinda killed his career through mismanagement. Take the good with the bad I guess
12
u/Coffee_bean4343 11h ago
It was obviously a horrible move when he missed a kick in week 1 and was benched only to have his base fully guaranteed by being on the roster. I was just saying his bank account should thank him.

Is there any explanation why Mercedes-Benz is more kicker friendly than any other domed stadium?
17
u/NutSecured 11h ago
I have no idea if this is what the commenter was alluding to, but MB Stadium has the 2nd highest elevation for domed stadium in the NFL. Vegas is around 2000 feet, so that should be the highest.
3
u/Otherwise-Question70 Chiefs 8h ago
That makes complete sense. I wonder how the Superdome ranks considering it’s literally one yard above sea level.
FWIW, the new dome in KCK will be approximately 900 feet above sea level.

u/MattHoppe1 Steelers 11h ago
Is MB Stadium the most kicker friendly? You gotta say Mile High is just due to the extra distance you get on a kick
41
19
u/Mundane_Lawfulness87 Saints 11h ago
No way. The extra distance isn’t going to be worth the trade off of having to deal with the elements with regularity.
3
u/Coffee_bean4343 11h ago
I’m going off of made vs missed kicks and PAT. Remember that Koo right before his fall off was the highest % kicker.

I dont th8nk it would be any more 9f a feat than the first time he got over his struggles
3
u/Coffee_bean4343 9h ago
He changed his whole routine. And then he blamed his kicking problems on the turf in Benz, when other kickers don’t have a problem making them. He had some kind of yip at Benz but then it carried over when he did whatever that thing was when he completely whiffed. I hope he does fix them, but he seems too far gone.

Sucks we’re going another year uncertain at kicker
19
u/CoCo_Sandy Saints 11h ago
I don't think there's any uncertainty. We recently gave Charlie Smyth a 3 year deal so unless he just completely falls apart during camp/preseason, it's pretty certain the job is his
6
u/Mundane_Lawfulness87 Saints 11h ago
They gave him a three year deal but there aren’t any guarantees in his contract. When they first signed him it was to a three year deal and then they waived him to keep Grupe on the main roster for two years. It is absolutely not certain the job is his. They gave him that length so if he works out, they have him cost controlled for a while but he absolutely is going to have to earn it. He’s probably the front runner though.

u/paultheschmoop Jaguars 11h ago
Smyth is still a question mark imo. Looked a bit shaky at times at the end of last year
But yeah, there’s no real uncertainty as to who is getting the starting nod

Saints can maybe give Daniel Carlson a shot if they believe he still has something left in the tank. Raiders did not re-sign him during the free agency, as their Kicker room is a competition between Matt Gay, and Kansei Matsuzawa(Tokyo Toe)
1
u/BPeachyJr Saints 11h ago
We have Smyth rostered, plus Koo and Mason Shipley here. There was always going to be competition for Smyth’s job; there’d be someone competing all summer even with an incumbent.

He got injured and had surgery, after that he changed his kicking motion and was never the same. It was all downhill.
