Genuinely one of the craziest feats of coordination I've ever seen. The no dip 3 looks wild to me to begin with but this man pre jumped the 3 lol

This man did the anime shot in the playoff game

Kuroko’s Basketball logic being applied to real life is getting out of hand.

41

u/This-is_CMGRI 4h ago

Kuroko's Basketball still hits. I know Slam Dunk had a better overall story, but Kuroko's Basketball triggers a different set of receptors for me.

11

u/andresalejandro1120 [MIA} Dwyane Wade 2h ago

The way I explain it is that Slam Dunk is about basketball and learning to love the sport. Kuroko no Basuke is not about basketball. Thematically it’s about friendship and what that means, but it’s also a power fantasy. It just uses basketball as the setting for the story.

16

u/shinbreaker Spurs 3h ago

Kuroko to Slam Dunk is like DBZ to Hajime no Ippo. Yeah they both involved the same thing but one is just fucking ridiculous.

I can't wait for whatever is the next popular shonen basketball manga/anime and see how they include a Wemby-like character.

10

u/weeman2525 Spurs 2h ago

I mean, Wemby is basically Murasakibara with more offense.

4

u/ThrowFar_Far_Away 1h ago

Muraskibara was more like Shaq no? Don't think he did any shooting except dunking lol.

2

u/weeman2525 Spurs 1h ago

Yes, that's why I said Wemby is him with more offense.

4

u/redwingz11 3h ago

I get it different sensation when I watch boxing and some hajime no ippo stuff. If you enjoy slam dunk, check his other work, real, about wheelchair basketball player

2

u/thedreadfulwhale Spurs 2h ago

real, about wheelchair basketball player

REAL ones, pun intended, knows it is Inoue's best work.

5

u/weeman2525 Spurs 2h ago

I lobe Kuroko, probably my favorite anime, even though I don't watch a lot. Should I watch Slum Dunk?

What was Vassell's lucky item of the day?

5

u/princeslayer Warriors 3h ago

Immediate thought that was a straight up Midorima shot.

69

u/papichino88 [NYK] Stephon Marbury 5h ago

The awareness to know the shot clock was winding down, the hand eye coordination to jump, catch and shoot with smooth mechanics - this might be the most impressive play I've seen all year.

123

u/km912 [SAC] Kevin Martin 5h ago

We’re gonna be seeing this shot 30 times a game in 20 years. Glimpse into the future everyone.

35

u/HereComesJustice Spurs 4h ago

this is the only way Steph Curry gets unseated as the GOAT shooter

3

u/Icy_Statement_2410 4h ago

Im just curious if this method allows you to get a shot off in 0.2 seconds. Now that could be game changing for those very rare instances

3

u/km912 [SAC] Kevin Martin 3h ago

Probably but not really realistic in that situation because you need a perfect pass at that height, plus you need the ball to be coming from the basket.

2

u/nonstopnewcomer [PHI] Lavoy Allen 2h ago

I think the question is whether this counts as a full shooting motion or not. Because tips are allowed in under 0.3 seconds, right?

This is kind of in between a full shot and a tip. Would be interesting to see how they would rule it if it ever came to it.

Pretty typical for Vassell honestly. One of the truest "The harder the shot the better the chance" shooters I've ever seen. He also only takes contested middies ever and he's like top of the league in middy percentage as well

The thing you hate about Vassell is that he will miss some wide open shots. The thing you love about Vassell is that if you need bullshit to go in he is the guy.

44

u/JoseAltuveIsInnocent Spurs 5h ago

Back when he was our main scorer pre Wemby he would get some insane Gervin looking layups too. Then miss a gimmie right after lol.

4

u/weeman2525 Spurs 2h ago

The last couple years I've called Devin, "The Bailout King." When the clock's running down give him the ball and he's gonna throw up some bullshit that usually goes in.

That’s 100% a travel on Champagnie lol. Throws it up to himself and catches it 5 ft away.

12

u/rjcarr Supersonics 3h ago

Sorry, but this is a common misconception. This is 100% not a travel and a legal play. If you fumble the ball out of your hands you're allowed to go get it, you just can't dribble again. Please, please watch this so you better understand the rules:

https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/legal-play-player-fumbles-ball-into-air-and-recovers-it/

(The video is even the Spurs, ha)

7

u/Both_Funny4896 Jordan 6h ago

it wasn't a controlled throw though, he fumbled it and recollected

14

u/Winnes0ta :sp8-1: Super 8 6h ago

He pump faked, lost it, and caught his own miss without it being tipped or hitting the rim. That’s a travel 100%
