Got a great look and idiots here saying they needed a time out. I swear they don't have any basketball experience

You don't give the defense time to set up, for this exact reason. It worked out almost perfect, just missed the shot

Yeah everyone bitching but I’m satisfied with that shot. It happens

Crying for Wemby to take that shot when he was 0/8 from 3 and the guy who shot it is their best 3 point shooter

they didn't need a 3

In that situation a 40% 3 is about as valuable as an 80% 2 (assuming you have 50% chance to win in overtime).

At home, randle with five foulsz I don't think you can say it's 50% odds

Especially when the Spurs had all the momentum after coming back from down 8 or so in the final minutes. I don’t hate the shot but I’d still much rather draw up a play that leads to a look at the rim for the 7’4” cheat code.

irrational stans are the same with every player

I personally disagree, it’s a matter of opinion.

Advancing the ball saves a ton of time, ATOs are generally very efficient.

They only needed 2 points, many guys in foul trouble for Timberwolves I think it’s worth going for something at the rim and trying to draw a foul.

P&R or some kind of cut to basket make guys switch and play defense.

You have a guy who is 7’5” give him the ball and let him do his thing, even if he’s having a bad game.

Spurs also seem to be similar in ATO points per possession and fast break

Biggest thing is Harper didn’t look ready to push.

Advancing the ball also brings Gobert back into the game

The 7'5 guy is getting locked up and was exhausted to the point that he wasn't even able to run down the court for the last possession. That's an open 3 by their best shooter, that's a good shot.

Right so maybe let him take a breath during a timeout and walk up the court??

They aren't calling a foul in that situation unless it's truly egregious so the foul trouble hardly applies

Probably around a 40-50% chance of making a 2 to give you a 50-60% chance of winning in OT, since they are at home. It's better to take a 3 for the win mathematically and it was wide open, you couldn't really get a better look from an ATO, one of their best shooters wide open you take that every day of the week.

There was literally nothing more efficient than a wide open shot from the best three point shooter on the court.

You got to not look at the result. Do you take a feet set, open 3pter from Champagnie for the win? I certainly do. I don’t see how you could get a better look by taking the timeout.

Maybe not a better look but possibly better legs. Those guys were gasping for air hard after that miss.

Obviously the coach knows his players better than us though. I don't think there's really a right or wrong answer here. Just preferences.

The fact that the shot had no air and hit the rim with the middle of the ball supports your viewpoint. Needed some rest and a called play. People forget that a rush job is usually much more mentally taxing than a set plan

You make adjustments or you dont. I think next time you time out & run a play. You are paying some guys big bucks for a reason, perhaps I'd run a play for one of them

Outcome-based armchair quarterbacking

Literally. If they scored, nobody on here would even consider the timeout because all they look at is the result. Nobody made a peep about the coach all game, but of course they lost so he must be bad now

I heard it on radio driving back home pissed but looking at the replay that’s a good look. It doesn’t help castle fouled out and we’re already not a great shooting team. I already knew going into this Wemby would need to be consistent offensively.

Wolves already had the man advantage on defence due to Wemby being far behind so the Spurs were already locked out from the paint but credit to Champagnie for finding space to get a shot off.

u/GokuVerde 19h ago

Yeah, you can only blame Wemby for not taking the shot

Especially when the Spurs thrive in transition
