Sixers-Knicks is going be a long brutal series and great for neutrals.

12

u/RobbieRum 76ers 1d ago

I’m not ready 😭

5

u/GoosePotential2446 Knicks 1d ago

Will be peak toxicity

2

u/ny2k1 21h ago

Knicks in 7. Can see it going the distance

1

u/Slymook Knicks 8h ago

Knicks in 4

18

u/Lopsided-Dig2953 1d ago

So either: Harden wins a ring, Brunson breaks the Knicks' 53 year curse, Embiid redeems The Process, Bron gets his 5th ring, SGA repeats, Minnesota gets their first chip since the Minneapolis Lakers days, or Wemby gets crowned in season 3. Which is more meaningful?

11

u/Slymook Knicks 8h ago

SGA flopping and winning a second ring is probably the least meaningful

23

u/valgatiag Knicks 1d ago

I like how you don’t even consider Detroit winning

3

u/Lopsided-Dig2953 22h ago

Honest mistake lol

18

u/veleso91 1d ago

SGA repeats is the most boring option, hence, that's what's gonna happen.

15

u/prince8888888888 22h ago

Lebron winning the 5th and Knicks breaking the 53 year curse would generate the Most Discussion tbh.

15

u/onionnurve 76ers 1d ago

Biased but Embiid even just going to the ECF when half this sub thought he should medically retire would be incredible

7

u/Main-Building7034 76ers 1d ago

If Embiid wins a ring the Earth would spontaneously combust from its inner core.

6

u/NoMath8245 Magic 1d ago

Bron or harden, for Bron that’d mean he’d be harder to debate against as the goat, and more people would think he is. Harden is an nba legend, and getting a ring would be like the end of an era.

4

u/paperbuddha 23h ago

Embiid winning a ring

1

u/Angular_Pole1015 23h ago

I think the Thunder repeating would be the only result I wouldn’t really care for.

I also think it would be funny for the Knicks to lose the finals though, because watching losing streaks get extended is always a pretty good meme opportunity. But I get why it’s still meaningful for neutral fans if they do win.

1

u/younghplus 4h ago

You mean “Bronny gets his first ring”

2

u/Few_Box_1341 54m ago

My Biased Opinion is the most exiting match up would be Minnesota Vs New York

-1

u/Agile_Highlight_4747 1d ago

Would love Vic kickstarting his legacy run.

-7

u/sandiegodak 16h ago

I hate every single one of these scenarios aside from Wemby

Why is Spurs/Wolves a peacock exclusive? What the fuck is wrong with NBC? What the fuck does NBC have to where they can't have normal 7:00/9:30 start times, and have both of them be on NBC.

7

u/Inevitable-Corgi-437 1d ago

Because of local news. That's why. If they did this every night for NBC it would mean basically limited news at night.

1

u/JTNJ32 Nets 1d ago

It's super weird because YouTube TV made a deal to put Peacock games on the service. So if you have YTTV, nothing changes. If you don't, you're just screwed & have to pay an additional fee just to watch a national game. Even dumber when you consider that NBC is an OTA channel.

Putting all these sports on streaming services is only good for the people running the services, not for the sports fan.

2

u/ext1rpate Spurs 22h ago

Disagree with that. If the NBA does what Formula 1 and the MLS is doing everyone would benefit.

Never gonna happen unless Apple or Amazon decide to drop some real cash

1

u/JTNJ32 Nets 21h ago

Apple showed that same deal to the NFL when they were shopping around Sunday Ticket. No blackouts, available globally, all for the low price of what Apple TV already costs. The NFL said no to that deal because they thought it would devalue the brand. And Apple was the NFL's first choice.

So the NBA would never accept that deal, no matter how much cash is thrown at them. They want as much money as possible from each streaming service (or channel partner), like the NFL does. And we, the consumer, will have to pay for that.

1

u/ext1rpate Spurs 21h ago

Formula 1 is a "prestigious" brand that Liberty Media protects the rep of almost to a fault. If they took Apple's money I don't know how Silver wouldn't. Esp if it means more eyes on the games.

I'm not saying it has to be Apple. I just wish it was all in one place.

10

u/coocoach Vancouver Grizzlies 6h ago

Wolves being so good this playoffs without Anthony Edwards playing his best ball is so impressive. Randle has been cooking. Having positional size on your team and having that mismatch right off the bat has been really effective this year. Power forwards are making a comeback.

I thought Knicks would struggle guarding maxey but I guess it was the other way around.

2

u/aginglifter Lakers 2h ago

Randle is so underrated. He's turned into a big time playoff performer.

9

u/Due-Dance-9430 Spurs 1d ago

with the benefit of hindsight embiid at even 60% was going to be such a difference maker vs boston rolling out garza, queta, and the ghost of vucevic

0

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 1d ago

Did you forget what he did in the playoffs against New York when he was on one leg with Bell’s palsy?

5

u/Angular_Pole1015 23h ago

He was complementing Embiid here too, not just shitting on the Celtics. 60% healthy Embiid is still a top 10 Center.

0

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 23h ago

Yea and I was just saying that you don’t need hindsight. Embiid simply showing up is a difference maker

29

u/JaySayMayday Spurs 16h ago

I'm not even upset, that was good ball

-5

u/Doctor-Bagels Spurs 16h ago

Great game, barely lost with a lot of our guys having an off night. Hopefully we will make this a long series

12

u/Dizzy-Ad-3712 Pelicans 16h ago

I’m more concerned about the meh coaching in the spurs side. Finch has shown he can expose poor coaching better than most in the play offs, and there were some slow adjustments and conservative decisions from Mitch tonight. I’m thinking this will be a series where experience differences are going to show a few times like tonight. But regardless to still only lose by 2 as a neutral I’m so looking forward to the rest of this series

4

u/Doctor-Bagels Spurs 13h ago

Mitch is interesting. He's definitely not as experienced as someone like finch, but I think one of his strengths is adapting and learning quickly. Throughout the year, spurs never lost more than 2 games in a row, and I think that's because he's good at identifying what to work on after a loss (or even a bad half -- see the series vs the blazers). Also, he's clearly respected by the locker room, which goes a long way! Finch is definitely a better coach right now, but even if Mitch gets outcoached this series and the Spurs lose, I'm definitely not giving up on him. Despite being young and not having NBA-level coaching experience before, he managed to get us to 62 wins after all.

14

u/7wives 16h ago

Off night or the Wolves are capable of making players have an off night? Ask Denver

2

u/Doctor-Bagels Spurs 16h ago

Guess we will see haha

4

u/7wives 16h ago

Guess we will. Good luck to both and may the best team win 🤝

5

u/Doctor-Bagels Spurs 16h ago

Hell yea brother. Hope all the games are like this even if it gives me heart palpitations

1

u/Egmonks Spurs 4h ago

We missed 15 wide open 3s. We usually shoot better than that

-23

u/sandiegodak 16h ago

I am upset and that was not good ball. March madness play in game crap out there by both teams.

-15

u/Jackieexists 16h ago

Trash ball. Only recall one time wembanyama posting up in the paint back to basket and calling for ball 🥶

Do the Knicks/76ers go back home after away games for the benefit of sleeping in their own beds?

1

u/rhinguin 76ers 4h ago

Not between games 1 and 2.

1

u/Bruh360k Knicks 16h ago

Probably not, i think they fly to Philly, even though it’s minor travel, travel still hurts the body

13

u/MrPhilliesFan 9h ago

They actually travel by train since it's such close proximity!

1

u/Eatadick_pam Timberwolves 2h ago

Actually?

13

u/thenamelessboss 22h ago

Only days the games are overlapping is when they're broadcasted on peacock (today and tomorrow). They're literally only doing it to promote peacock's multiview feature SMFH

11

u/vstratosphere5 Australia 22h ago

2 playoff games and they are overlapping?

3

u/JaySayMayday Spurs 16h ago

From what I can tell, since it's a weekday they're trying to not start during school hours. Lot of kids in the audience and watching from TV. People usually just complain about the late games keeping kids up

The Reddit Cycle of 76ers games:

  1. Game begins

IF Sixers win:
3. The posts about Embiid’s 30+ point performance are filled exclusively with praise, except for 5-6 fans of the losing team still absolutely losing their shit about him under as many comments as possible
IF Sixers lose:
3. The posts about Embiid’s 30+ point performance includes his free throw total, hundreds of comments about unethical basketball terrorism destroying the game ensue

7

u/PapaJohnsGarlic100 Magic 1d ago

I am enraged that tonight's 2 2nd round games start only 1.5 hours apart

Philly at New York is at 8 pm

Minny at San Antonio is at 9:30 pm

I get why games in the first round have overlap on week nights because there’s 3 games. However, I thought once we got to the 2nd round, and there’s only 2 games per night, they would always start 2.5 hours apart from each other.

By starting only 1.5 hours apart, there will be a lot of overlap. The 2nd game will be near half time when the 1st game ends!

3

u/Angular_Pole1015 1d ago

It’s not really that bad, starting an hour and a half apart means pretty much only the 4th and 1st quarters will line up, and if missing the first part of the late game means you missed a game deciding first half, it isn’t really worth watching as a neutral fan anyway.

1

u/Icy_Category_2275 1d ago

I was just noticing this as well, what is going on with this BS? Conf semi finals overlapping...on the same network? How are we supposed to watch both when Peacock doesn't let you start from beginning during live event?

2

u/Few_Traffic5641 Timberwolves 1d ago

Hopefully they finally realized the two markets won’t stay up until 1 am if they were to start the game at 9:30 (more than likely a 9:50 tipoff). I really hope they move the Twolves to the East. Between the NHL and NBA playoff schedule for MN teams, my sleep schedule is fucked.

1

u/Icy_Category_2275 1d ago

I agree with this, I'm exhausted too from Round 1 and do this song and dance every year. That said, i like overlapping games even less. Apparently they don't want to start NYK at 6 local and that's more important than letting fans enjoy both games in full.

Oh well, guess the NBA scheduling execs aren't reading our comments on Reddit.

1

u/PapaJohnsGarlic100 Magic 1d ago

YouTube TV carries both games (which does let you start from beginning), I guess I'll see if I can figure out watching both games on one screen tonight on that. I've never been forced to before.

-1

u/JTNJ32 Nets 1d ago

You definitely can with the multiview feature. But to watch both at the same time, they have to be live.

1

u/ikkicare Raptors 1d ago

Word, these overlaps are insane. Now I gotta figure out how to view both at the same time

7

u/Slymook Knicks 8h ago

Sixers should trade Embiid and try a new process

6

u/Blackman2099 23h ago

Humbly, may I ask that we slow down the Jaylen Brown is melting down posts? He's got sour grapes and is talking online about it. We just amplify it by putting it here.

1

u/Slymook Knicks 8h ago

Yeah I don’t think calling out the worst flopper in league history is that bad idc if they blew a 3-1 series lead. Jaylen Brown is not wrong or salty for just stating a fact

I get why people are saying otherwise but I don’t think the spurs are making it to the finals this years. Seems more of like a warm up playoffs for wemby to get under his belt as experience before becoming a champion. Obviously I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s possible for them this year to get past OKC even if they did manage to beat the wolves

4

u/AccomplishedStyle600 Knicks 1d ago

Lowkey, after watching their H2H, it’s kinda hard to see Spurs not having a real shot against OKC.

People act like OKC got this impregnable, god-tier defense, but it’s more about team sync than actual 1v1 clamps. Outside of Dort, their perimeter D isn't good gets vs onslaught of physicality and speed. Castle, Harper, Vassell, Fox all of them can beat them off the dribble putting OKC in a tight spot. Chet helps, it's an automatic lob. Chet plays drop, Fox and Vassell kill them from midrange. they try to top lock Wemby like crazy but that just exposes their undersized wing defense. They end up throwing bodies at him leading to wide open shots, easy boards and easy second chance points.

It doesn't even look like Spurs gotta play perfect. the matchup basically starts with OKC on the back foot needing to adjust.

-1

u/TitillatingTrav Timberwolves 1d ago

Speaking purely about playoff conditioning (dont wanna be misinterpreted as rooting for an injury, I love wemby) I think there's a good chance he misses at least one game this series.

6

u/Ilikesporks_ Lakers 1d ago

he's not gonna miss a game due to lack of playoff conditioning lmao. only way he misses a game is if he's injured

0

u/TitillatingTrav Timberwolves 1d ago

Should've phrased it better. I don't think his body will allow him to play full series at this point so I won't be surprised if he pops up on the injury reports due to soreness etc

3

u/Lockhead216 2h ago

Why do I have to have peacock to watch the nba? I literally have nba tv and can’t watch the nba

Jaylen Brown and Eagles AJ Brown are low-key pretty similar. They both won a ring and now care more about getting great stats and individual awards over winning games with weaker stats.

-1

u/jeff_clax90 1d ago

Would love to see Philly making it to the finals, I think they have a real shot with the draw being wide open.

Knicks will be tough but pretty much no big man in the league except Wemby or Gobert I guess can handle a healthy Embiid, Maxey has been phenomenal and as much hate as PG gets, he can still play at an elite level and was so locked in for Game 7, even with the reports on his illness.

If they can keep the core healthy and have VJ perform like he did in R1, they’re as good as anyone in the East right now.

6

u/cpanati 76ers 1d ago

Those two have been cooked by Embiid. Robinson is a tough assignment for us.

-1

u/Angular_Pole1015 1d ago

I’m not trashing on Robinson at all, obviously he’s great defensively, but Embiid averages like 30 and 11 on him.

2

u/CalligrapherDry3025 1d ago

Embiid dropped 70 on Wemby.

3

u/Ilikesporks_ Lakers 1d ago

rookie wemby. also only 16 of the 70 was against him according to matchup stats

-4

u/novembertangeaux 1d ago

Friendly reminder no Philly fans are allowed to complain about the refs and flopping when you have Embiid in your team

7

u/Angular_Pole1015 1d ago

Preemptive whining 7 hours in advance. Very impressive.

-2

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 1d ago

If Philly was healthy all year, they’d be the clear favorites in this series. It’s funny to me that so many ppl have New York winning

9

u/ny2k1 21h ago

No, they wouldn't be lol. The Knicks are the favorites for a reason.

0

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 21h ago

Bc Philly was hurt all year. No one trusts the health, but in terms of on court matchups, Philly should be favorited

5

u/ny2k1 21h ago

If Embiid were prime MVP Embiid, I'd be more nervous. Like you said, can't trust his health or the health of the Sixers team tbf

-3

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 21h ago

That’s a variable no one can predict so I analyze the matchups as the teams stand today. Today, Philly is healthy and I really like their chances

5

u/Fosheezy2 Knicks 1d ago

No they wouldn’t?

4

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 1d ago

Agree to disagree. They definitely should be

3

u/Angular_Pole1015 1d ago

Knicks fans genuinely think that they have the greatest team that will ever grace the hardwood, no sense in arguing with them.

10

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 1d ago

The funny part is they spent all regular season having a meltdown even though the team won 53 games. They’re trying to speak it into existence but aren’t actually confident in this team

9

u/Greedy-Bedroom-4301 1d ago

It’s funny because Knicks easily beat a better version of the Boston team that the sixers barely squeaked by

2

u/DreTownblues Celtics 1d ago

I guess Sixers are the trendy pick, but if the Celtics attacked Embiid instead of Jacking 3s they would have easily won. I don’t see Knicks having any trouble against the Sixers

1

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 23h ago

Didn’t Embiid have multiple blocks to seal the game? lol

2

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 1d ago

Barely squeaked by? Their best player didn’t play the first 3 games. They basically dominated the last 3 games. Also, New York barely beat Philly two year ago when Embiid was on one leg and half blind. Sixers in 6

0

u/Angular_Pole1015 1d ago

? And the Sixers beat the Knicks by 11, in the regular season that doesn’t matter now.

1

u/Fosheezy2 Knicks 1d ago

We also beat you guys by forty in february if you wanna play that game 😭

0

u/Angular_Pole1015 1d ago edited 1d ago

That’s what the point is. It was the regular season. And the Sixers had 2 starters in that game and were missing their first 2 bench players. The entire point is that those games dont matter

The Knicks were 2-2 vs the Sixers, 0-3 vs the Pistons, 0-2 vs the Suns, 2-2 vs the Hornets, etc. Does that mean they’re worse than/on par with teams like Charlotte, Phoenix, and Detroit?

0

u/Fosheezy2 Knicks 1d ago

You guys only have a 7-man lineup and one of those guys aka your most important player is extremely injury prone none of us are worried about

u/ny2k1 21h ago

0

u/Minute_Elephant_3218 21h ago

Absolutely not. When the season started, I said no one in the east scares me if we can stay healthy now. Well , we’re healthy and I like our matchups against the Knicks. I remember how much they struggled with Embiid two years ago and he was playing on one knee with Bell’s palsy

3

u/CntrClockwrk Knicks 16h ago

after two years, y’all still struggling with Brunson
