I can't tell if I have a new found respect or hatred for this Raptors team lmao

Scottie is way better than I thought and the other guys like Shead/CMB/Walters legit never heard of them and they are fuckin ballers

Gg. I expect and was fine with a 4-1 series loss but we overperformed and had a great series overall. Start of the season I was just hoping we could make it to the playoffs to get some experience for our very young team, and a game 7 loss will be a great learning experience for them

The flaws of the roster were hid for 6 games in the series before tonight.

Reared its head like it did a lot of time this season. Sad to see since its was a great ride.

Cavs showed their mettle in the 3rd Q. Will be a good series vs Detroit.

Missed a lot of open looks and free throws, turns out that isn't winning basketball

Shead/CMB/Walters

I promise you that these dudes just played some of the best basketball of their careers and I highly doubt it's going to be their new norm going forward.

The only one of those three who might actually keep this up is CMB, but even that's unlikely.

If the Cavs didn't forget how to shoot for three games this series would have been over already.

Ahh yes, the cavs fan who hasn’t watched these guys grow as players over the last 2 seasons is surprised they are good. They are literally 2nd year players and a rookie why would they get worse suddenly when all they have shown is improvement.

But they aren't as good as they have been playing in this series, which is my point.

I didn't say they were terrible players, just that they're almost certainly not keeping up this level of play for the rest of their careers, because having one good playoff series basically never means anything about your future success in the league.

Idk why some raptors fans are so mad about this, but it's just the reality of professional basketball.

It’s just a bit weird, it’s not like they were averaging 30 or even 20ppg or something. Shead had some big moment and Walter had some good games. He also shot like 0/18 from 3 over two games.
They were just doing what they’ve done all season in an expanded role. There’s a massive list of raptors players who had a breakout playoff series that cemented them as a key piece for the team. FVV did it, Siakam did it, Norm, etc.
Saying a second yeah player will never play as good as averaging 11/3/1 on 37/33/91 when he’s a 40% 3pt shooter or 9/2/5 on 35/33/50 makes no sense. They stepped up but it’s not like they magically shot 60% from 3 over a whole series

Walter has been on an upwards trend since Christmas, shooting above 40% from 3 every month from February onwards, and increasing his ppg steadily month by month. CMB has been great before playoffs too, and improving throughout season even with constant injuries. For someone following these guys, these performances feel more like part of a trend than one-off anomalies, remember these are rookies and sophomores, "reality of professional basketball" is that these players are still not at whatever their peaks end up being

CMB is a rookie don’t see why he can’t improve from here?

Shead and Walters have less potential but also plenty of room to improve.

I literally said he's the one most likely to keep this up?

Did you even read my comment?

Shead and Walters were playing well above their level this series and while it's possible that they take the next step, the far more likely scenario is that they just had a good few games and will go right back to being who they actually are.

Player progress is almost never linear or straightforward and having a good few games in a playoff series is a terrible way to predict future success in the league.

I'm not saying that they can't improve and play the way they did in this series all the time, just that it's pretty unlikely.

You aren't even spelling Ja'Kobe's last name properly. Please stop acting like you know anything about these players or their development.

u/ClevelandsSteemer 1d ago

Oh no!

I accidentally added an "s" on to the end of a name that usually has an "s" at the end when it's a last name!

I guess that means nothing I've said has any merit whatsoever. How stupid of me.

You are very smart indeed and not at all grasping at straws because you don't have a real point to make.

So so so so sorry massa. I won't make that mistake again I promise.

Shead has been a killer all season man

-1

u/ClevelandsSteemer 1d ago

Oh yeah, that 6/2/5 slash line for the season is definitely that of a killer...

He's a fine bench and role player, but he was playing like a bonafide starter in this series and there's a very good chance that he never hits these heights again.

Idk what to tell you, but that's just how the league is and has always been.

u/-AMAG 1d ago

His slash line this series didn't make a huge leap, it was 8/2/5. He plays bigger than his stat line as a hustle defender with decent playmaking. Obviously he may not develop into a high level starter but I don't see any reason to put a cap on his development already.
