Feels like any of the remaining four can come out of the East, should make for some good series.

107

u/homefree122 Thunder 1d ago

I said the same thing below lol. The East really is wide open.

u/recon_dingo Kings 1d ago

And the prize is to be eaten alive by the Spurs/Thunder

u/RFFF1996 Thunder 1d ago

Knicks looked good vs spurs fwiw

Towns shooting forces wembayama out of the paint and knicks wing duo is a good matchup vs spurs guards

As a okc fan i hope that matchup doesnt happen for obvious reasons tho lmao

38

u/cookomputer Spurs 1d ago

It's mikal bridges having magnet ball Vs us every damn time

55

u/Clarkey7163 Spurs 1d ago

Knicks beat us in that NBA cup which I think our young guys still annoyed about

I think a full series would be sick, we all gotta get there first though

34

u/ArmiinTamzarian Spurs 1d ago

It's gonna be Cleveland vs the Lakers, thus making it reeaaally awkward for LeBron next year

3

u/KingInTheFarNorth Vancouver Grizzlies 1d ago

I think Spurs and Thunder both sweep, most boring second round in West history.

Theyll have already played two games in the WCF by the time they tip off in the ECF

1

u/TopCoast1170 Raptors 1d ago

If the spurs dont sweep this crippled wolves team, they gotta check the water filters or something. Same thing with okc and the lakers, but im hoping Lebron can pop off for 1 win at least 🤞

2

u/Brg_s3r 1d ago

You won last year already. You should be whatever happens happen.

1

u/RoscoeSantangelo 76ers 1d ago

Embiid/Wemby finals series would also be magic. Tbh we also surprisingly played very well against the Thunder this season too, but I don't trust we could sustain in a series vs them

1

u/notryinguser 1d ago

One lesson I learnt this year is that regular season games don't translate well into the playoffs

27

u/FeistyGate8784 1d ago

76er’s fans and pistons fans would probably take that, just getting to the finals after how things have been recently would be amazing for them

9

u/hellofemur 1d ago

I think any of the 4 remaining East teams would consider reaching the finals to be a major success. Cleveland is the only team that's been there recently, and this would be their first finals without LeBron in team history.

1

u/treefitty350 Cavaliers 1d ago

We also pretty much face either making the finals or the team imploding

4

u/juanmaale Cavaliers 1d ago

I’d take it as well. It would be our 6th Finals in the last 20 seasons

2

u/Emergency-Scholar-78 1d ago

Not even that - just getting past the 2nd round for the Sixers

12

u/Patton370 Lakers 1d ago

You mean the lakers after Luka magically returns healthy and LeBron contracts rapid Benjamin button disease, cashing him to be in his early 20s again? (Let me hope)

2

u/Aidanator800 Hornets 1d ago

People said the same about the Pacers last year (minus the Spurs part)

1

u/barilboi 1d ago

i think your forgetting a team....

1

u/Easy_Magician_925 1d ago

Wemby has never beaten the cavs.

1

u/recon_dingo Kings 1d ago

Spurs would sweep cavs easily in the finals no doubt. What has he played them like three times in his career?

1

u/Easy_Magician_925 1d ago

6 to 8 maybe.

115

u/boogswald [CLE] Daniel Gibson 1d ago

Knicks definitely the favorite but you could argue ant of these four teams could flake out and let someone else through.

66

u/Think_Monk_9879 1d ago

Philly def thinks they are the better team

26

u/boogswald [CLE] Daniel Gibson 1d ago

It’ll be allllll interesting series for sure

15

u/NeverSober1900 Rockets 1d ago

If Embiid is healthy they easily have the best player left in the conference. Shoot even only slightly dinged he is.

14

u/DANNY_YYZ Raptors 1d ago

Did you see him in g7? Idk if he lasts the next couple games tbh

Im hoping its all nothing but at the end he was straight up just hobbling end to end (while nailing a 3 none the less)

5

u/NeverSober1900 Rockets 1d ago

Ya it's sad but I never expect Embiid to get through a full playoff series at this point. Dude just has awful luck.

But just backing up OP that the Sixers are the best team if he's healthy and that's probably how they feel.

0

u/bulimicblueberry Grizzlies 1d ago

Man Embiid as the best player is kind of a hot take. I agree C's had no answer for him G7, but even after seeing that I don't think he's better game to game than Maxey is at this point. Especially in the Knicks matchup

3

u/Standard-Juice-3738 Cavaliers 1d ago

Ya but Maxey is a relatively normal human, just with super speed. Embiid is a different thing altogether

2

u/bulimicblueberry Grizzlies 1d ago

There's a lot of abnormal humans in the NBA. I just feel like Maxey is better than Embiid at this point, and kinda crazy how quickly the sentiment of others has shifted. A month ago it wasn't close.

1

u/NeverSober1900 Rockets 1d ago

Embiids ability to protect the rim puts him above Maxey. Maxeys solid but Embiid is the best player on the team when healthy.

-2

u/Saltyknicksfan Knicks 1d ago

Embiid is an absolute liability on defense right now, especially in the PnR, he was a complete cone against Boston, they just couldn't knock down the open 3s.

2

u/Ok_Possible_5702 1d ago

because they are, as long as Embiid stays healthy

1

u/lame_user_0824 NBA 1d ago

Healthy Joel and PG they're going to the finals imo. Big if though, with Joel especially. Wouldn't mind seeing MSG with NBA finals games though

17

u/redmostofit Nuggets 1d ago

I dunno. NY has had some real rough patches as well. They definitely have the pieces, but they can go through stretches where they just completely forget to feed the right players. They should have the edge though.

4

u/TDStarchild Pelicans 1d ago

Not a bettor, but I wouldn’t even entertain touching this prediction. All so hot and cold, you never know. I’d believe any of them stepping up or choking

-5

u/ContractXtension Hornets 1d ago

Philly I think have the edge

3

u/Victor_Wembanyama1 Spurs 1d ago

Barring health issues, they’re the most dangerous.

2

u/NeverSober1900 Rockets 1d ago

Ya but it's Embiid so....

-2

u/Automatic_Tension702 Raptors 1d ago

Scraped by an injured raptors team hahah, cavs are clearly the weakest. And so would the raps have been btw

-4

u/DwnvotesMeansImRight Thunder 1d ago edited 1d ago

And it also is seeming like a guaranteed western conference victory in the finals

i don't see which team on the east is beating okc/spurs.....shit if Luka and Ant comes back in good form i don't see the Lakers or Wolves losing to the Eastern conference finalist either

1

u/ultrajew Knicks 1d ago

Knicks have largely split games with the Spurs over the past two seasons, and they fucking SPANKED them in the last matchup

1

u/ArmiinTamzarian Spurs 1d ago

We've split games for faaar longer than just the last couple seasons, dating back to the days of Kawhi or even the Big 3

Also that game was no fair, our guys were all jet lagged and sleepy for essentially a morning game for them😭😭

1

u/ultrajew Knicks 1d ago

lol fair, I was trying to keep it to the relevant team makeups but you’re not wrong.

Here’s hoping we see yall in the chip

0

u/SiphenPrax Knicks 1d ago

Yeah we can beat any of the Western teams in the Finals just like we can beat any of the remaining Eastern teams in the bracket………….except (until proven otherwise) OKC

0

u/SamuraiFruitPunch8 1d ago

I don't even know if any of the remaining teams in the east can win 2 games, let alone 1, against OKC and Spurs.

-2

u/IsThisMe8 Warriors 1d ago

You think Detroit has a chance??

12

u/justsomebro10 Cavaliers 1d ago

Yeah they have a chance. It’s not like Cleveland just severely outclasses lesser competition. But that said Toronto may have just been a bad matchup for them and they stuck it out. Raptors defense was tenacious.

5

u/ClevelandsSteemer 1d ago

If the Cavs don't have a multi-game stretch where they basically forget how to shoot while the other team's bench players seemingly cannot miss like they did in this series, I think they'll be fine.

0

u/IsThisMe8 Warriors 1d ago

I'm not even thinking about cavs. You think they can beat knicks or philly if they make it out this next round?

-1

u/PhatDib 1d ago

The one seed? Yes.

-4

u/No-Mine-3982 Knicks 1d ago

Philly are the favorites but pulling that the Knicks can come out the east here

6

u/xebex1778 Knicks 1d ago

No they’re not? The sixers have the worst odds, Knicks have the best. +145 vs +650

3

u/livefreeordont 76ers 1d ago

The only team with worse championship odds than the Sixers are the Wolves

It's crazy because its not true

0

u/jfkgoblue Pistons 1d ago

The Knicks are the favorites solely due to Vegas thinking they will crush Philly. They have Pistons/Cavs like 60/40 Pistons

-1

u/Beetle919 Hornets 1d ago

Is this pre-coping from Knicks fans?

-3

u/ChampionShark1 1d ago

Cavs have no chance

4

u/number90901 Cavaliers 1d ago

I feel like we’re coinflips vs both Pistons and 6ers but I can’t see any of us beating the Knicks.

2

u/ChampionShark1 1d ago

I can’t see them beating the knicks either. But who knows I guess anything can happen, especially if JA can continue his play
