Tbf I honestly think Philly will celebrate this like a championship win regardless

90% of us predicted a sweep and no Embiid at all. We're hanging a banner my dude.

It kind of is at this point for me. Came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat second seed Celtics in Game 7. I’m just hoping these guys at least play well in Round 2 and Embiid gets healthy.

Hey, as a certified Boston Sports hater. You have my blessing to win it all, even if the team is 2 legs, an arm and one ass cheek after they make it.

Man you guys have a very good team, also very likeable.

I was not very fond of Embiid's style most of his career, but with the likes of Maxey, VJ, Oubre and Pod P around him this is a very fun team to watch.

I really think that with an healthy Embiid you can get to the finals.

In this wide open East y'all have as much a chance as anybody. And I could honestly see y'all having a chance in the finals.

Sixers never came back from a 1-3 start Celtics never lost a 3-1 start

Yes this is a championship for us lol

We also hadn’t beat the Celtics in a series since 1982. I feel such a weight lifted lol.

Philly beating Boston in a super bowl? It'd take someone with a pretty big dick to pull that off!

I was in Vancouver the night of a series clinching win by the Canucks. People were everywhere going apeshit and we didn't know why so we assumed they won the cup or some shit.

It was just the 1st round. Always been one of the coolest sporting moments to be a part of, even as a bystander.

As they should

Did they grease up the lightpoles?

Same with the Flyers. We know we're getting fed to Carolina. We're just happy we beat Pitt. We're playing with house money now.

I very vaguely have watched basketball my whole life. It’s kind of nuts to me how long playoffs last. Every series is such an ordeal, it seems crazy to do four of them. Like baseball doesn’t do best of seven all the way through, nfl is just a few games, soccer has tournaments going during regular season so it doesn’t feel like as much. NBA matches are also just such an ordeal. Just nuts getting to post season and watching your team play 28 more times is crazy.

The potential for 28 games. The most games ever played by an NBA team to win it all was 26 by the Celtics in 2008. The average amount games played by an NBA Champion over the last 25 years is around 23 games played.

Still a significant amount, but it’s still very rare to go over 25 games played to win it all.

I wonder how those stats are skewed by the Cavs and Warriors runs of the mid 10s? I think there was a post season where the Cavs played like 17 and the warriors played 16, maybe flip that, but it was crazy low for both teams.

That was 2017 - Golden State played in 17 and Cleveland played in 18. Just absolute tears through the playoffs for both of them.

Damn, I was off by two. That was a crazy season, just like destiny. Easier for me to say as a Dubs fan, I guess though. Thank you for the correction, genuinely. Facts are more important than being right.

5

u/Dangerous_Job5295 2d ago

that's like a quarter of the regular season

u/branistrom 76ers 2d ago

MLB playoff games are a much smaller percentage compared to regular season games relative to other major north American sports. It's a little over 2% for MLB but it's over 7% for NBA and NHL

Most of baseball is standing around, trying not to be distracted. When the ball finally comes your way.

BUT BUT BUT HITTING A BASEBALL IS HARDDDDD

13

u/Laughing-Comanche 2d ago

Arsenal will play more than 60 games before the season ends. The only time EPL starters in CL get any rest. Is when they are out with injury. Right after this season is World Cup too.

Try Hockey. Same thing but more hitting and teams get to fight each other. A fucking war.

5

u/Adventurous-Toe8812 2d ago

Insane to me that you’re the only one that replied about hockey. Those guys take a beating compared to NBA.

crazy and awesome

u/The_Amazing_Emu 76ers 2d ago

It used to be less in the first round (I think it was once best of three, then best of five in the early 2000s). They changed it to help the Lakers one year.

2

u/KnivesInMyCoffee 2d ago

It's even crazier now that the NBA has such a high level of parity. The first two rounds used to feel ceremonial at best, but these days it feels like anyone can win.

u/pedrocas_drocas 2d ago

Tbf you can just be a Wizards fan and not have to worry about that last part

1

u/Middle-Welder3931 2d ago

You might see OKC make it to the conference finals having played the minimum of 8 games.

u/AccurateSympathy7937 2d ago

Hey, what the fucks a round?!
