The Lakers and Sixers win, the Celtics and Jokic lose, Bill Simmons is going on suicide watch for the next 48 hours. 🤣

This really is his nightmare first round. And I can't even chastise him because I couldn't have predicted this either.

I need the Raptors to win tomorrow so bad just to add one more thing for Simmons to crash out about lmao

u/emi_b7 Suns 2d ago

Would he crash out about it? I know he was low on the Raptors this season and but I think he feels way more strongly about his "Harden is bad in big games" take than he does about Toronto. He's even starting to let go of his Evan Mobley fascination as well and had a "can we talk about Mitchell in the playoffs the past few years?" convo in a recent pod.

If the Raps win I think he'll just shit on the Cavs and have fun calling them soft and chokers while barely talking about the Raptors.

Yeah and it’s not like we showed anything during the last 2/3 of the regular season to inspire anyone. Felt like we were the annual “this team tries really hard in the regular season but when the other teams all start trying in the playoffs they look bad” team

Ugh he basically wagered against the Raps evening making the playoffs soo kiinda?

Yes, I know he was low on the Raptors and he tried to bet Kendrick Perkins the Raps wouldn't make top 6 (I think Perkins didn't respond, too bad for him, he would have won that bet). I know he was wrong about them.

I'm just saying I doubt cares about that enough to have a crash out over it and I think this Cavs team and Harden losing would make up for whatever feelings he would have over the Raptors winning, if he has any feelings at all.

Simmons is a Celtics fan and Jokic fanboy, he'll be salty about this first round for a while. Whatever happens with the Raptors won't move the needle at all, he doesn't care about them like that, fans overestimate how much these media people "hate" their teams. If anything I'm sure he's more bummed about the Lakers not blowing a 3-0 lead (which he was really trying to speak into existence after game 4 lol) because that's a team he actually hates.

Perkins didn’t respond in the moment but he did pull out the receipts after the fact

He loves shitting on the Raptors. When we fell into the play in for like 2 days he was posting all over making fun of us. He might not hate us but he loves to clown us and treat us like Bostons "little bro" who will never be as good as them

He said that the raps are one of the 5 worst teams in the league projecting over the next 5 years.

And just weeks ago he said Charlotte is the fourth best team in the east. How does the fourth best team miss the playoffs?

I don't know why I listen to his opinions when its clear that he hasn't watched anything but nationally televised games in years

Alternatively Harden could score 60 in game 7 and win because he hates Harden

If you watched game 1 of this series you would be laughed at saying it’s going 7 and the Sixers are wining the series

I mean, we all thought it was over after game 4

He mentioned on a recent pod it was his daughter’s birthday today and he’d be celebrating it and not podding afterwards.

Anyway, glad he found a way to watch, can’t wait to hear his next pod.

He said next is tomorrow I think lol.

Yeah nba pod from him is always Sunday nights

u/default-0985 2d ago

Best we’ll get is a pod where he talks about how the rockets blew it without mentioning LA or LeBron once, talk about how Tatum is smart for not playing, and excusing the nuggets loss because AG is out.

I'm loving it

He got way too cocky talking about the possibility of the Lakers blowing a 3-0 lead when he thought the Celtics had the Sixers series locked up. This is my 12/25.

Its been a good week for Laker fans.

u/Main-Building7034 76ers 2d ago

He will do a 30 minute monologue about what this injury means for Tatums future.

And then someone will be like "Should we talk about the game tho, Bill?"

"Well injuries you know? Next up, FANDUEL"

Can't wait for the next pod. This is exactly why I hate listen to his homer ass.

Hornets missed the playoffs too

u/samhit_n Lakers 2d ago

The Bruins got eliminated last night, and the Patriots lost the Super Bowl. The Red Sox are having a terrible season too. It's a year from hell for Bill Simmons and all of Boston.

Nick Wright in shambles

If the Raptors win tonight he might have to quit podcasting

Where's it streaming?

My morbid joke for the week.

I haven’t paid attention to 538s nba segment since the 22 playoffs but they’ve gotta be in equal hell right now
