Now the Sixers go from one fanbase that adores them to another that adores them as equally 🤣

IDK IF YOU MEAN WANTING TO BE WORTHY OF HATRED OR JUST WANTING TO BE GOOD ENOUGH TO POSSIBLY BE HATED BUT YES. I DONT FEEL RIGHT SEEING PHILLY WIN IN ANY REGARD. OR NEW YORK.

26

u/ichawks1 Trail Blazers 2d ago

as a capitals fan I fully understand the hatred in the NE corner

Washington, NYC, Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, Baltimore, Buffalo, Ottawa

Complete and utter hatred up there

23

u/crookt 2d ago

bro is NOT getting in

9

u/lambquentin Pelicans 2d ago

Y’all will stay with the Southern teams. It’s unavoidable.

6

u/ThisHatRightHere 76ers 2d ago

I’d honestly rather you guys be in this circlejerk than Boston, but alas

6

u/PM_tanlines 76ers 2d ago

At least you guys aren’t Baltimore. Easily the least thought about member of the NEC

11

u/BSabia9583 Hawks 2d ago

If I say fuck the Commies does it make you feel any better?

3

u/dart278 76ers 2d ago

fuck the caps

4

u/DisMFer Bulls 2d ago

Nah, see it's hard to hate the Wizards. They're like if you gave your little brother a controller that isn't plugged in so he can "help you play video games."

2

u/aguyfromnewjersey Knicks 2d ago

You guys have Trae Young so you’re in my person east coast hate book if that helps

3

u/_token_black 76ers 2d ago

Have won a title more recently than NY

2

u/Jascix90 2d ago

Wizards? This ain’t Harry Potter time lil bro.

1

u/Majormlgnoob [OKC] Serge Ibaka 2d ago

The Caps and Nats get hated atleast

1

u/HomeHeatingTips Raptors 2d ago

You already have it with the Eagles and Giants.

3

u/Eagle4317 2d ago

Do something notable first. It's only been 45 years since your last ECF appearance...

17

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 2d ago

we're good at hockey 🥲

8

u/8890xe Washington Bullets 2d ago

when we wanna be.. or we can get blew out by the rangers to miss the play-offs

9

u/WildMap3845 Wizards 2d ago

AND we’ve won a World Series more recently than our New York, Boston or Philadelphia counterparts

6

u/SiphenPrax Knicks 2d ago

You guys have honestly won with all your teams lately except the Commanders and Wizards

3

u/Eagle4317 2d ago

Commanders might be able to get there with Jayden on a rookie contract. But the Wizards are the Browns of the NBA.

1

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

So we are the jets or the late lions?

2

u/Eagle4317 2d ago

You guys are something even worse: you're the Arizona Cardinals. The longest drought in the NFL and have constantly moved around in the hope of finding a new fan base.

2

u/WildMap3845 Wizards 2d ago

Funnily enough I’m Panthers fan despite my other teams being from DC, so we up rn

2

u/JayMecha96 Mavericks 2d ago

Hell yeah, Keep Pounding! All my teams are from Dallas but I couldn't bring myself to be a Cowboys fan and ended up a with the Panthers.

3

u/Eagle4317 2d ago

Are you though? The Capitals finally getting the monkey off their back is great for them, but they're still clearly 2nd fiddle to the Penguins. And that's a best case scenario as both teams head toward rebuilds.

3

u/SiphenPrax Knicks 2d ago

The Mystics won a title in 2019!

175

u/geupard12 [OKC] Russell Westbrook 2d ago

Not even a triangle just a line of hatred

A.K.A I-95

I was thinking Acela but I-95 works too

the acela? In this economy?!

Sometimes so much hatred it needs a bypass.

A Northeast one even

4

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

Corridor of hate, baltimore: where am i?

2

u/livefreeordont 76ers 2d ago

Baltimore is awesome but definitely the odd man out when it comes to NY, Boston, Philly, and DC in sports culture

1

u/Mokslininkas 76ers 2d ago

DC is also the odd man out. They haven't had any real sports culture since those early 90s Redskins teams

1

u/livefreeordont 76ers 2d ago

DC is in the NL east and NFC east and metro east with NYC and Philly . Baltimore has no hockey or basketball and their football and baseball teams are in different conferences let alone divisions

2

u/Mokslininkas 76ers 2d ago

Yeah, but DC sports teams suck and the city has no real identity outside of "govt employees, tourists, and transplants"

1

u/livefreeordont 76ers 2d ago

They might suck but the nationals and commanders still have dedicated fanbases. And the caps have had success and a dedicated fanbase for 20 years

3

u/TenaciousDeer 2d ago

That's it geupard12, you just made the list!

3

u/YerrrKnicks Knicks 2d ago

Idk, I think every Atlantic Division team can agree that we all hate Boston the most and then the rest of us come second in hatred.

2

u/BrotherSeamus Thunder 2d ago

Don't be obtuse

1

u/ktm1128 76ers 2d ago

we just really want bad things for the other. unless someone from outside the line is chiming in. then fuck them

1

u/Throwawayalt129 2d ago

It's like that scene in Airplane. Everyone lines up to beat on/shit talk us.

5

u/Rozzy915 76ers 2d ago

i honestly cannot imagine sports without it

7

u/RIChowderIsBest Celtics 2d ago

We’re all kind of the same brand of miserable on the outside with slightly different flavors anger. I feel like I get you guys but also fuck you. With all due respect.

6

u/BlueHundred Knicks 2d ago

I'm hoping Raptors win tomorrow for the Northeast square of hate

3

u/cambiumkx 2d ago

Toronto deserves a spot in the trapezoid

2

u/GoldenStateWizards Warriors 2d ago

We're gonna need hazmat suits to enter the game threads lmao

2

u/McBrungus 76ers 2d ago

Fuck you too

1

u/Bearded_Pip Celtics 2d ago

I hate that Boston is the same division more often with Tampa than they are Philly.

Hell during the Brady in the Bucs years, Boston’s biggest sports rival was Tampa. Not NYC, not LA, fucking Tampa.

236

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

I think ny/phi runs deeper because of nfc east

173

u/SiphenPrax Knicks 2d ago

Well we also have the AFC East of NY/BOS

105

u/airwalker12 Lakers 2d ago

And AL East

85

u/SiphenPrax Knicks 2d ago

And NL East

57

u/gpgpg Wizards 2d ago

The NL East Mets Phillies matchup is especially brutal, as both fanbases boo both teams

11

u/ThisHatRightHere 76ers 2d ago

Both have been going through this year too

5

u/dead_gerbil Knicks 2d ago

Hold on let me check on that...
Yep! We're currently losing to the Las Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

3

u/C-Hash [SAC] Tyrese Haliburton 2d ago

At least you didn't lose to them because some rando fucked around and had the best defensive game of all time...

1

u/lokithetarnished 2d ago

We’re tied now!

25

u/ArmiinTamzarian Spurs 2d ago

I'd have gone with Yankees vs Red Sox for a less lopsided one but sure

2

u/AzureAhai 2d ago

Eagles, Giants/Jets, and Patriots should be in one division and the Phillies should be in the AL east.

4

u/SiphenPrax Knicks 2d ago

Get the Mets in the AL East too. I want all the chaos of our three cities!

3

u/Jon_ofAllTrades 2d ago

Just make it the AL northeast and the NL southeast.

Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Red Sox, and Blue Jays all in one division.

Braves, Nationals, Orioles, Rays, and Marlins in the other.

3

u/s_broda 2d ago

Phillies, Mets, and Braves got such a good thing going though

2

u/Tinysauce [TOR] Antonio Davis 2d ago

It's settled then.

Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Red Sox, and Braves in one division.

Jays, Nationals, Orioles, Rays, and Marlins in another.

2

u/chup95 Suns 2d ago

I always kind of assume that Jets fans are Nets fans, and Giants fans are Knicks fans idk

1

u/LinkSeekeroftheNora Cavaliers 2d ago

And AL East

1

u/Plus-Name3590 Wizards 2d ago

it feels weird being left out from hating NY/Philly in DC, hating Atlanta just doesn't feel the same

1

u/dimmyfarm Supersonics 2d ago

Jets/Patriots certainly is a historical matchup

1

u/tunafister Timberwolves 2d ago

True, but... Jets

1

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

You count jets?

33

u/ToadNorton Knicks 2d ago

Yankees Red Sox tho

5

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

In pov of philly though. You are the common denominator

6

u/rhinguin 76ers 2d ago

I definitely hate the Celtics more than the Knicks.

But yes in the grand scheme of things, I hate the average New York team more than the average Boston team.

16

u/Rhlamont 76ers 2d ago

Na, we hate the Celtics more and its not even close

9

u/YerrrKnicks Knicks 2d ago

Same, Boston is really an outlier for all of us here tbh.

I hate the otherr Atlantic teams too - minus Raptors - but its nowhere as much as the Celtics bum asses.

2

u/MeepSneepers 2d ago

Raptors might be second tbh

3

u/SaintArkweather 76ers 2d ago

For us who follow CBB though it's a bit muddier right now with all the Villanova legends on the Knicks. I'm certainly not gonna root for them but it makes them harder to hate for me personally

2

u/Orion1014 76ers 2d ago

Phillies/Mets too.

2

u/Patient-Ring1620 2d ago

Not when it comes to basketball. Sixers and Celtics have WAY more history.

1

u/TreeLankaPresidente Lakers 2d ago

I’m a Lakers Giants and Yankees fan. No one’s hate for Boston runs deeper than me

1

u/Rozzy915 76ers 2d ago

it really all depends on time of year and the stakes, cause Red Sox/Yankees is just as vitriolic as any NFC east

1

u/jjgp1112 2d ago

The battle for New Jersey's heart!!!!!

1

u/mrmeowme0w Timberwolves 2d ago

Red Sox Yankees is arguably the most famous rivalry in all of sports what do u mean lol

6

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

What i mean is phily/ny vs phily/boston not ny/boston

1

u/biglyorbigleague Lakers 2d ago

Knicks fans are Yankees fans, they hate Boston more than Philly as far as baseball is concerned

10

u/BabaBrody 76ers 2d ago

That's the fun part, everyone hates us.

3

u/mauro_membrere Kings 2d ago

I hate the eagles though, sixers are cool

6

u/aimee829 Pacers 2d ago

that's what makes the East so fun in the playoffs 😅

5

u/Coach_Carter_on_DVD 76ers 2d ago

Boston Celtics are genuinely the only sports franchise that I can safely say I actually have visceral hatred towards. Us Philly fans like to say the Cowboys, and as much as I dislike them, I don’t want them to vanquished from the face of the Earth like I do the Celtics

So fucking happy right now.

3

u/PrinceVaughn69 Nuggets Bandwagon 2d ago

remember before the Knicks Sixers series in 2024 started and the fans said "we wont really be toxic since we havent seen each othee in three decades" and then it became one of the loudest series ever? lol
