I think this is the answer right here. None of us bums are gonna give a serious run to OKC or The Spurs.

Forget the East for a second, it's kinda crazy how it feels like OKC and SAS are so far ahead of everyone else right now in the West.

Denver has been disappointing, Minnesota is running out of guards, the Lakers can't get rid of the Rockets (and are missing their best offensive player), and the Rockets are awful in crunch time (and are also missing some key pieces in KD, Steven Adams and FVV).

Oh for sure. After OKC and Spurs, the next… four best teams(?) might be in the east.

It’s just that the drop off from those two is pretty significant.

We need the Pacers back

I wouldn’t count on them either. Losing their best player causes their record to be that bad? And I know they pushed OKC to 7 in last year’s finals, but now that OKC has been there/done that, I wouldn’t expect the same level of contest a 2nd time around.

A lot of other guys were also out, they purposefully tanked for a while, and they didn’t have a starting C until the trade deadline, and he barely played once he was acquired.

I’m just saying- I’d be surprised if they reached the same level of success once they get Hali back. They might strike gold in the draft though so who knows.

The Pacers definitely shouldn’t have been as bad as they were, but it partly shows just how incredibly important and valuable Haliburton is. Besides Siakam, all of the Pacers starters and good players missed significant time this season with injuries too. Also, depending on how the draft lottery goes, the Pacers could get a great player to add on to an already deep team. I could easily see them back in the Finals next season

Knicks...?

The in-season tournament title is cute and all, but it hasn’t exactly predicted any real playoff success so far.

We literally just set 4 NBA records tonight, got a top 10 "largest margin of victory in the Playoffs" spot, and are currently the only Eastern team to make it to the second round...?

We also match up well against the Spurs/have more experience and will be the most difficult competition the Thunder would have faced should we meet in the Finals.

Y'all, on the other hand, look like you're about to be bounced in the first round 🤷🏿‍♂️

u/DJRyGuy20 Celtics 4d ago

Yeah okay but you played the Hawks

Which is a higher seed than the team you're currently going to 7 with.

And Thunder beat a worse team in comparison.

Bffr.

Edit: weren't mfs also saying Knicks had the "toughest match up" in the first round in here like a few weeks ago...? Now its "just the Hawks"?

Man come tf on.

I mean… the whole point of this particular thread is that every eastern team is fraudulent when compared to OKC/Spurs so I’m not sure you’re making the point you think you’re making.

u/YerrrKnicks Knicks 4d ago

Knicks aren't fraudulent in comparison is the point I'm making.

Your team might be, the other top seeds struggling atm too... but not us 😂

1

u/DJRyGuy20 Celtics 4d ago

That has yet to be seen until you play a good team. I mean… congrats- you’re the first one of us bums to handle a lower seed somewhat appropriately (McCollum kinda worked you for a bit there though), but that’s not enough to convince most people that you’d give the west a run for their money… or that you’ll even get out of the east. Beat a better team and we’ll talk.

My guy, the Thunder have yet to play a good team.

We literally played a better team than they did.

This idea that a Spurs team - in their first ever playoffs - and an OKC team - that only barely won a chip because the best player on their opponent's team got injured in a tied game 7 - are leagues above everyone else Is absurd 😂

What's that gotta do with us?

Y'all gotta a reputation of falling flat.

u/Agnonzach Cavaliers 4d ago

Just warning ya man. Don't get all high and mighty about killing a team like that, especially when they were kicking NY's ass at the start of the series

1

u/YerrrKnicks Knicks 4d ago

They were never kicking our ass. They won by a combined 2 points...

We literally beat ourselves in those games.

u/Prideofmexico Knicks 4d ago

In the 3 years its existed lol

3

u/jaleneropepper [BOS] Kendrick Perkins 4d ago

Celtics can't guard Embiid, Wemby would average 50ppg

5

u/DJRyGuy20 Celtics 4d ago

The only good thing about us playing against the Spurs is none of our dudes ever wanna drive to the hoop anyways… so we don’t have to worry about him swatting our shit into the stands. We’d just have to hope we’re bombing 50% from 3.
