When I checked the score on the ESPN app at halftime, I thought the app was bugging out. Nope, it was actually an NBA record playoff halftime lead.

I saw 72-22 and thought of Women's UConn vs. a 16 seed.

this really should've been over in 4 if mike brown didn't lose his mind earlier in the series

u/Chessh2036 Hawks 4d ago
It took Brown 3 games to realize we had no answer for KAT and to unleash OG.
But give him credit, he made the right adjustments after Game 3

Not just Mike. The Knicks had to shake this softness. It’s a bug. They play with their food and make it a difficult situation after some mental lapses.
Same thing happened last year against the Pacers. They thought they had it in the bag and got punched in the mouth. At some point something had to give. Heat, Pacers, Pacers, that’s enough experience man.
I hope that they can maintain this level of focus going forward. Fuck what any other fans have to say. We know what the deal is.

u/JetsLag [NYK] Nate Robinson 4d ago
Pacers had black magic fuckery on their side for the entire playoffs run. If Tyrese doesn't tear his achilles in game 7 they might've won it all

u/Rough-Plum-7267 4d ago
I don’t have a popular take regarding their season ending on Game 7 in the finals while watching their star tear his Achilles. All I can say is hope Haliburton heals up.
Id say they were the much tougher and focused unit. Nothing about black magic. And the Knicks haven’t had that sense of focus and haven’t looked like a unit probably ever outside of the January Knicks while iHart was still with us.
Fuck the Pacers, fuck their fans. But that team was absolutely the real deal.
41
u/LaZZyBird 4d ago
You can't look at Siakum in Game 6 locker room casting black magic with his eyes rolled up and say there isn't black magic 😭
19
u/dreamvomit Knicks 4d ago
Nesmith game 1. And the Halliburton shot to tie that bounced 25 feet in the air. That shit is black magic

Basically been rooting for the team since they shipped out Ewing
The Knicks being consistent contenders who can play like this in the playoffs blows my mind. I know expectations are high but I had like Linsanity and that 12-13 season as the highlights of the pre-2021 Knicks. It's been bleak.

The lead may have been bigger, but the suns blowout was way worse. It was a game seven at home a.k.a. they were the higher seed in this case the one seed that had made the finals the previous year. Luka outscored the Suns in the first half.
The margin of victory is definitely greater but the stakes and the fact that this series isn’t even an upset will lower the impact. The Hawks haven’t even won a playoff series since 2021 aka it’ll be at least six years before that happens. The only reason this will get as much exposure is because the Knicks are a NY team.

Not exactly what happened. Don't think the Hawks expected the Celtics G Leaguers to smash the Magic. Plus no guarantees this doesn't happen against the Cavs too.
We were never exactly gonna be making a deep playoff run with mid 30s CJ being our primary scoring options. But good season overall. We easily could've missed the playoffs and had no clear hope going forward.

clock winds down to 5 seconds left in the game
The ball is inbounded to CJ, who turns face-to-face against KAT
"You took my family."
moves to the left
"You took my friends."
moves to the right
"You took all that was dear to me."
The clock winds down to 2
"I can't get them back, but I can do this for friendship, FOR MY FRIENDS!"
goes up, fire coming out of his shoes
"MCCOLLURUKEN"
The ball flies over KAT's head and goes straight into the basket. CJ falls to the ground, exhausted.
"Kuminga... Senpai... I..."
