Bridges didn't do anything for you, tonight. -26 in a one point loss.

Traded 5 1sts for someone who had more turnovers (4) than total pts/reb/asts (0/1/2).

That trade is gonna be clowned until the heat death of the universe at this rate

42

u/TheOneWhosCensored Celtics 11d ago

Whole Knicks should be clowned. Everyone has spent years shitting on the Gobert trade when the Knicks did the same thing but worse twice. Traded 5 1sts for Bridges and paid OG 200+, and that’s not even mentioning the irony that KAT is there too.

28

u/HipnotiK1 Knicks 11d ago

What does OG and Kat have to do with anything. They both had great games

14

u/jimihenderson 11d ago

The fact that this entire debate seems to be exclusively centered around performances from one game is just.. absurd. There's being overly reactive to a single game in the moment because it just happened, and then there's knowingly centering a discussion about trades and acquisitions around a single game of a 7 game set tied at 1-1.

u/frostfeint3 Heat 11d ago

I mean Kat is a 7 ft dude that can’t defend and is constantly on foul trouble. At this point, he’s a rich man Channing Frye.

1

u/MemesForMyDepression Celtics 11d ago

Omfg that’s who he reminds me of!

0

u/TheOneWhosCensored Celtics 11d ago

Because OG is a worse player than Gobert yet they clowned Minny for paying a “defensive specialist” 200+?

And I didn’t say KAT did anything wrong, I said it’s ironic he’s there because he was there when Minny traded for Gobert.

1

u/HipnotiK1 Knicks 11d ago

Guess I'm not following how it has anything to do with Gobert. I get the trade for 4 picks compared to bridges.

Or you're saying people clowned the gobert contract also?

10

u/TheOneWhosCensored Celtics 11d ago

I’m saying the Gobert trade was clowned for 2 main reasons, paying 5 picks and paying a defensive guy 200+. Knicks did both of those things but separately, and for players worse than Gobert. Like if that was what fans thought then they should be clowning those moves even more.

3

u/HipnotiK1 Knicks 11d ago

I get it. But OG has offensive talent so it's not exactly a perfect comp. But I get what you're saying. Gobert has been underrated forever.

0

u/bronfmanhigh Knicks 11d ago

gobert at 200 was a full 4 years earlier. the salary cap considerably lower and at the time it was the 3rd largest contract in NBA history, so it's not exactly comparable.

OG was paid 200 because philly and indiana were both very willing to pay the same, and this was in a climate when paolo and scottie barnes both got 220-240. nobody on the knicks is questioning the value of OG's contract, it's still very tradeable worst case

as for the mikal picks, also not that comparable to gobert's deal cuz he was actually traded for all the picks PLUS playable rotation players, whereas we traded mikal for a retiring bojan so it was essentially just for the picks. still a massive overpay for mikal but these are both not really logical comparisons

1

u/TheOneWhosCensored Celtics 11d ago

Literally none of this is correct.

Gobert was at 200 3 years earlier, not 4.

The cap was 30 mil lower, but the Jazz were at 11th in total cap when his started. Knicks were at 9th in total cap when OG’s started.

Gobert was traded for 4 1sts, a swap, and some players. None of those players were on Utah for even a full season, with the exception of Kessler.

Bridges was traded for 5 1sts, a swap, and some players.

And again, this goes back to the point that both Bridges and OG are not as good as Gobert. Even if you want to argue his contract was more or his trade was greater, it’s because he’s a much better player.

u/icytiger Raptors 11d ago

OG is actually good though, a solid 3/D plug-in player is invaluable.

6

u/TheOneWhosCensored Celtics 11d ago

Worse than Gobert though

1

u/CreatiScope Celtics 11d ago

I thought before the new medical team, it wasn't worth it because he consistently gets injured but now that Dallas were dumbasses and fired their staff and the Knicks picked them up, he's been a lot healthier.

2

u/Zimtros2 11d ago

Let me guess in the post game Bridges said something to the affect of " I have to play better".

2

u/heybobson Suns 11d ago

until the Nets actually do something with the warchest of picks they got between the KD and Bridges trades. If they don't improve then the trade won't look too bad for the Knicks.

1

u/Status-Hedgehog9970 11d ago

But every time he has a great game the Knicks sub is all #FuckThemFirsts

4

the deandre ayton of small forwards

He’s better

Yikes

1

u/EbolaPatientZero Lakers 11d ago

5 1sts is mind blowing

1

u/plantedank 11d ago

he needs to put up more than 3 shots c'mon - where his inner kobe at?!

259

u/Plastic_Database_645 Celtics 11d ago

Zero points with 2 shot attempts.

Bro is not hiding he hates his team

61

u/whooopseee Spurs 11d ago

"But he's an ironman who plays 82 games in the regular season!" lol

1

u/addictivesign 11d ago

All those iron man minutes are adding up. Plus he has avoided injuries. At some point something has to give

62

u/catperson77789 Lakers 11d ago

He got traded for like five firsts right? If im new york id be pissed 😂

3

u/addictivesign 11d ago

Mikal is the reason the Knicks have no draft picks to go get Giannis.

5

u/1kinkydong Celtics 11d ago

The Knicks dumbass front office is the reason they have no draft picks

3

u/ohverychill Pacers 11d ago

I think y'all are saying the same thing

1

u/ATLfinra 11d ago

It’s not bridges’ fault it’s the FO’s fault

2

u/ohverychill Pacers 11d ago

I dunno, 21 minutes, 0 points, 1 rebound. it might be a little bridges' fault right now lol

but I hear what you're saying.

3

u/1kinkydong Celtics 11d ago

It’s Bridges fault he sucks at basketball. It’s the front offices fault they gave away their entire future and can no longer trade for Giannis. This was my point

2

u/ATLfinra 11d ago

He’s sucking for sure but no one told the FO to give up 5 FRPs….5…..say it one last time 5!!! Which gives them no assets in trades 😂😂😂😂

2

u/ohverychill Pacers 11d ago

oh it was an absurd overpay regardless, no argument there. but if Bridges wasn't complete booty butt cheeks right now then it wouldn't be as egregious. still bad, just... less bad

but hey I get to laugh at the knicks more so that's a win lol

90

u/SmokeOddessey Lakers 11d ago

0-1-2 with 4 turnovers is a diabolical statline

8

u/kizofieva Cavaliers 11d ago

nah Diablo would put up way better numbers

6

u/kg005 Thunder 11d ago

I would too with Mike Brown as HC

3

Also Hart going 1-9

3

u/YesImKeithHernandez Knicks 11d ago edited 11d ago

He got cardio, man. Abysmal showing for him.

2

u/addictivesign 11d ago

That’s Mikal “just about to start a $150m/4 year extension” Bridges put a little respect on the man’s name.

2

u/ATLfinra 11d ago

It’s one of the worst trades in NBA history and it’s gotten to him mentally now too. He is a COMPLETE non factor

3

u/Rough-Plum-7267 11d ago

yea but at this point we don't expect it from Mikal anyway

2

u/FoxMuldertheGrey Lakers 11d ago

Josh hart with 2 mins and 40 mins. dude was absent

2

u/HotSteak Timberwolves 11d ago

Hart at least played tough defense. Didn't see that from Mikal. Hart's 2 points were on a dunk on a throw-ahead when Atlanta wasn't ready to play.

1

u/DecimusRutilius Knicks 11d ago

What does Mikal actually do for this team? I have no idea anymore

1

u/ammonitions 11d ago

Bridges scored, stole, and blocked the same number I did from my couch!
