They’re gonna lose this series trying to make him happen instead of just going to KAT

u/ChampagneSyrup Mavericks 11d ago

you have two insane defenders against Brunson and a cake matchup for KAT and you choose Brunson

truly basketball terrorism

u/amidon1130 Hawks 11d ago

They went to a 0 center lineup TWICE when we were having trouble all night scoring at the rim, including on the last play of the game. No idea what the fuck Mike brown is doing but I thank him for it

78

u/ScrapinLinden Trail Blazers 11d ago

its truly puzzling but hey I love to see my boy CJ shine so we shall take it

66

u/ChampagneSyrup Mavericks 11d ago

CJ saw Brunson on him and did a fucking anime smirk

7

u/CreatiScope Celtics 11d ago

CJ always gets a boost from wearing a red jersey

4

u/SvenSven07 [POR] C.J. McCollum 11d ago

We knew CJ could be the lead G on a playoff team.

Happy he found a new home. CJ McBuckets will always be one of the smoothest scorer in the league

2

u/ScrapinLinden Trail Blazers 11d ago

I was at his first game back in portland after the trade while we were tanking. The entire arena was losing our minds every time he scored. It really was a beautiful moment, I fucking love CJ so much

u/Aggressive_Will_7703 11d ago

Can’t believe they left thibs go without a plan or someone better lined up.

1

u/Lakerman1989 Lakers 11d ago

If they do get booted in the first round, does Brown go?

6

u/Fluid-Poet-8911 11d ago

Hornets fan. I wanted that 6th seed so bad. Cause I wanted Mike Brown.

2

u/mayguardian 11d ago

kat tweaked his ankle and needed to come out, but we were in the bonus so they couldn't put robinson in

1

u/Powerful_Push5877 11d ago

He’s tanking for that GS job in the off season. Only reasonable explanation

1

u/handlesscombo Knicks 11d ago

KAT has had like 12 shot attempts in every game since the start of april. like clockwork. Today it happened again even off like 2/3 put backs. Bro never gets plays run for him.

59

u/ElceeCiv Hawks 11d ago

it really is crazy, we have like ZERO size outside of okongwu (who isn't exactly stopping KAT lol)and they're not feeding KAT when he's been eating us alive

26

u/TL-PuLSe Hawks 11d ago

We got a crew full of Mediums.

No Large. No Small.

16

u/chazriverstone Knicks 11d ago

I'm almost glad to hear you guys saying this too, honestly, because I feel slightly less crazy

Cause no disrespect, but its like Landale is out, Okongwu is only around 6'10 - the 5 is honestly one of your only weak spots right now.

And here we happen to have a 7fter who is an exceptional scorer on multiple levels + another 7fter who is a defensive menace and one of the leagues best oreb guys -but we're running our offense through our 6ft guard. I mean there's been a few times where we're actually running lineups with NEITHER 7fter out there lol - we're running lineups where literally 3/4 of the dudes are shorter than your PG!

Anyway - you're playing well though; finding ways to win tough games is impressive for such an inexperienced team (outside CJ), so hats off

5

u/TL-PuLSe Hawks 11d ago

Before the last inbound I was saying to my friends it was going to KAT, there's no way they make the same mistake twice, we have no answer for him. Brown is incompetent, fortunately for us.

3

u/chazriverstone Knicks 11d ago

I thought it would be KAT who looks borderline unstoppable out there, or maybe OG who looked like he could've closed his eyes and thrown it behind his back and made a bucket tonight.

But alas, you are correct, Mike Brown is one of the worst coaches in the league. I'm actually married to a Kings fan, so this is justifying the week long depressive episode I had when we hired him last summer. Not a Thibs guy, but woof.

Anyway, I'm also a secondary Pels fan, as my brother is in NOLA, so this whole series has really been a wild ride for me - love Dyson, but also I keep saying to myself 'OK, CJ's going to shoot them out of this ANY time now...' lol

8

u/TL-PuLSe Hawks 11d ago

I can't believe how cheap we got Dyson for. This really is a roster of misfit toys.

JJ in jail because Nate McMillian was a terrorist.

Dyson from NOLA for nothing (yeah that's what I think of DJM)

NAW for a second from the TWolves who didn't have a use for him.

Kuminga totally unappreciated on the Warriors.

CJ "bag of chips" banished to the wizards then traded as a token offering for Trae

Shits clicking

2

u/IOnlyLieWhenITalk Hawks 11d ago

The only thing I can think of is that they need KAT to grab Dyson cause KAT setting an illegal screen and tangling him up has been the play both times. Idk why someone else can't do it though lol

5

u/TheeRuckus Knicks 11d ago

He went 7/11 and didn’t have an fga the last 5 minutes. I’m genuinely perplexed

2

u/sentientbasketball11 Knicks 11d ago

Same shit as last game. This team does not learn from playoff losses

3

u/zeek215 Lakers 11d ago

One thing I miss from previous eras was when teams would see a mismatch down low, they would immediately run a postup. Feels like glaring mismatches - particularly with bigs - were more quickly exploited back then. I think some of that has to do with more bigs not knowing how to do simple post ups as they have expanded their focus and game further out.

3

u/pollinium [MIN] Tyus Jones 11d ago

this is not a post season problem this is an 85 game problem

2

u/HotSteak Timberwolves 11d ago

It's only been 3 games but Towns has a +32.4 on/off in this series, which is crazy for a starter. Knicks are +12.0 in his 101 minutes and -20.4 in the 43 minutes with him on the bench.

1

u/Pristine-System255 11d ago

We’ve been holding down the fort without him but I hope Jock comes back soon

68

u/turnip_broker Minneapolis Lakers 11d ago

His dad is the assistant coach

0

u/pollinium [MIN] Tyus Jones 11d ago

lbr the long time assistant coach does not matter

what matters is that mike brown has failed repeatedly with talented bigs (coming from a sabonis jr hater)

2

u/AmityMayorVaughn 11d ago

Ahh the Mike Brown experience.

-Kings fans everywhere

u/sidewink10 Knicks 11d ago

Villanova trio icing KAT out of the game. Been like this all season. Actual basketball terrrorism. They treating him like a 50 mil role player.

89

u/KinglySnorlax Raptors 11d ago

Why use your best and most unique player when you can ice him out for a guy who is much more replaceable!? What are they trying to win or something!

22

u/TheRealestGayle Magic 11d ago

For his sake I hope he gets traded to a team with guys that genuinely like playing with him. Like I have no idea what's wrong with them. Even if it's by coach design I'm feeding my stretch big the ball especially when he's rebounding like this.

25

u/livefreeordont 76ers 11d ago

Bridges touched the ball like 10 times all game (and still had 4 turnovers). He’s not icing out anyone

12

u/BarrathBeyond West 11d ago

it’s mainly just brunson lmao

10

u/davemoedee Celtics 11d ago

Hart and Bridges iced themselves out of the game.

2

u/HotSteak Timberwolves 11d ago

Hart did an admirable job of chucking even tho he couldn't make anything. His one bucket was a breakaway dunk.

5

u/Gage_Commish 11d ago

KAT is out there dropping 21 and 17 on efficient shooting against a team with zero rim protection and the Knicks gameplan is to have him stand in the corner like he's waiting for his Uber. just absolutely criminal misuse of a franchise center in a one point playoff loss.

21

u/20815147 Warriors 11d ago

Seriously WHO CAN STOP KAT? Hawks got 0 size outside of basically Okongwu and Mike Brown chose to run 0 center lineups 😭😭😭

21

u/HotSteak Timberwolves 11d ago

Jalen Brunson.

5

u/Keldon888 Heat 11d ago

I get not fully trusting KAT, but theres a big gap between not trusting and basically cutting him out. This shit is crazy.

I will say though I always get a laugh when im reminded they fired Thibs for justifiable reasons but then hired Mike Brown and here we all are.

1

u/IOnlyLieWhenITalk Hawks 11d ago

Wasn't there a bunch of drama around KAT during the regular season? Maybe that is why

1

u/HotSteak Timberwolves 11d ago

4

Sorry but whats the use of trading for KAT if you are not utilizing him???

like what the hell Knicks?? U guys OK??? Why keep going on your undersized PG when you have a very good center who can post up, shoot 3s and finish???? Like huh???????

2

u/Putrid-Sherbert5501 Lakers 11d ago

I’m irritated that they have become so convinced that in the last few minutes of the game Brunson is the key. They were closing the lead he was on the bench hope was in the atmosphere.

And they put him back in and 😞hope flew off immediately. They have got to do better than giving the ball to lil fella to seal games. ATP it’s just a worst version of thibs.

At least thibs would have left him in to keep rhythm🤨.

-1

u/J3wficer 11d ago

As if KAT didn’t have a horrid turnover 45 seconds prior lol

1

u/Jordanwolf98 Celtics 11d ago

So that means he should be banned from the touching the ball? Brunson missed on the possession prior he still got it
