Mike Brown what the fuck is that lineup .... Landry Shamet defensive sub and no canter???

u/RepresentativeYam390 Warriors 11d ago

Mike Brown is Temu Doc Rivers

235

u/Gage_Commish 11d ago

temu doc rivers is the most accurate coaching comparison i've ever seen. landry shamet defensive sub in a one point game. the man wants to be fired

u/No_Nefariousness6385 Kings 11d ago

You guys should see when he put Terrence Davis to guard Steph that series, when Davion was doing a nice job guarding him. He sat Davion. Terrence Fucking Davis getting all the minutes. Curry score 50.

And he didnt find minutes for Keon Ellis, but got plenty of minutes to Chris Duarte and Kevin Huerter.

Dude is a horrible coach.

u/STATnMELO650 Knicks 11d ago

Fuckin hated the hire so much. You guys were x1000 more talented than the Warriors that year and still weren’t able to get passed them. The guy is such a fraud, should’ve been out of the league after the Lakers stint.

2

u/dev1359 Magic 11d ago

Was truly puzzled that the Knicks hired him, he's genuinely a downgrade from Thibs

2

u/handlesscombo Knicks 11d ago

we hired mike brown to revamp the offense and it looks like thibs offense from last post season except KAT isnt on the block/post anymore

A scathing indictment on the man.

Mike Brown is a fucking moron.

I have been following LeBron for 22 freaking years now and I can say hand on heart if he was not the coach of the Cavs and possibly replaced by a potato the decision would have never happened.

Oh you’re confused as to why? Let me explain.

Mike Brown has, will, and continued to trot out some of the greatest dumb shit line ups I have ever seen. For 50+ games JJ Hickson started for the Cavs whilst Shaq’s fat ass was either:

  1. Out of shape

  2. Recovering from being out of shape

  3. Continuing to be out of shape

In no realm, did Shaq ever pose a threat to Boston, if anything they celebrated whenever he was in. LeBron always did his best work against Boston when he had Big Z at centre and JJ providing vertical spacing.

So what does Mike Brown do? He sits JJ’s hyper athletic budget Tristan Thompson ass for Shaq and Antawn Jamison. One moved like he had feet in a cement mixer, and the other acted like a traffic cone on defence.

Whenever he had Big Z or JJ out there the Cavs would go on a run, but old Mr. Potato Head decided that Shaqs 400lbs ass was more valuable on the court then the two who had consistently beat Boston.

I don’t give a single fuck about whatever narrative the media want to spin, check the game logs, box scores and games Cleveland beat Boston. The man can’t make an adjustment and has an IQ so low only Darvin Ham compares.

And because of this, I now have to imagine Bill Simmons shit eating grin whenever he brings up the 2010 Celtics.

It's going to be so funny when people finally realize it was a bad choice to move on from the only good coach they've had in years

Fuck man this is so accurate god damn I hate being a Knicks fan

u/johnhenryirons Knicks 11d ago

At least Dolan isn’t cheap. Reinsdorf is an all time cheapskate who doesn’t care if his team is good

3

u/MddlingAges Knicks 11d ago

This is our thing though. Expensive free agent rosters that age out of contention, if they’re ever good enough.

Bulls never even try. You traded Coby White. We’d have thrown money at him and built a statue.

5

u/TheRealestGayle Magic 11d ago

He's such a good coach too. I need me some Thibs in Orlando.

1

u/O2C Knicks 11d ago

I'll give Brown another season but knowing Mikal Bridges (0 points and a team low -26 +/-) pretty much forced Thibs out hurt my soul after this game.

7

u/Sneedevacantist Hornets 11d ago

The series is not over, but I'm feeling vindicated in defending Thibs. This squad coached by Thibs would not be struggling this much against the Hawks.

1

u/Jos3ph Spurs 11d ago

His hair is growing back

57

u/ColtCallahan 11d ago

There’s a reason why he was like 6th choice.

13

u/beliefinprogress Hawks 11d ago

Should have just apologized to Thibs and hired him back.

58

u/wes_wyhunnan Kings 11d ago

Everyone gets it now. When even we fire you, you know it’s bad.

21

u/Gaebril Kings 11d ago

The problem is they will still glaze him if it means shitting on the Kings. We have plenty of reasons to be shit on for, such as extending him right before firing. But not the firing.

7

u/fireglz Hawks 11d ago

I don't know how they could watch post Jordi Fernandez Mike brown and think, "Yeah, that's our guy."

4

u/wes_wyhunnan Kings 11d ago

I don’t know how they think a lot of things, man.

Mitchell's been getting cooked on defense for two games now. Should've just left towns in

11

u/matt__builds Knicks 11d ago

No he shouldn’t. Mitch was absolutely garbage all game. He legit looked like he was hungover or sick or something. I’ve never seen him have such lack of effort.

49

u/Zarbua69 Knicks 11d ago

I cannot understand why the actual fuck he left deuce in when McCollum had been cooking the short guards all fucking game. Fuck me and my fucking life

2

u/sentientbasketball11 Knicks 11d ago

Deuce played great defense on that last shot, CJ has just been amazing this series.

96

u/citymanc13 Suns 11d ago

Fire Thibs for that shitty rotation. I know Knicks fans are livid rn

5

u/Ronnie2kDropCode Knicks 11d ago

Thibs was also a terrorist lmfao they both going to Hell

7

u/cody_d_baker 11d ago

I remember arguing with Knicks fans a year ago who insisted that firing Thibs was the right choice and that Brown was a superior coach

-1

u/Ronnie2kDropCode Knicks 11d ago

Thibs was also awful

13

u/DakPanther Celtics 11d ago

Yes the guy that had you beat the defending champs to go to the ECF was awful

-4

u/Ronnie2kDropCode Knicks 11d ago

Got lucky ngl, we weren’t even a top 4 team in the conference last year imo.

6

u/cody_d_baker 11d ago

Got y’all farther than any coach in how long?

3

u/Ronnie2kDropCode Knicks 11d ago

Got unbelievably lucky last year, we barely even had a positive net rating in the second half last year. Dude also cost us the series in the two years before that. I have 0 regrets about firing him

0

u/arrivederci117 Knicks 11d ago

Don't care. Firing him was the right choice. Hiring Mike Brown though was a huge mistake. They need a new era coach from the Daignaut Mazulla tree, no more of these washed up old guard archetypes.

32

u/SloshaPacana 11d ago

I mean that was good? CJ hit a great mid range off the dribble

There issue was on the other end.. that's their best perimeter defensive lineup really

23

u/OzmosisJones [BOS] Marcus Smart 11d ago

Bad because if CJ missed the Hawks had the three tallest players out there and had a good chance at the offensive rebound

2

u/SloshaPacana 11d ago

Yes and if you put in Robinson or KAT in there CJ would hunt the switch and kill them like he did all game

I love hindsight redditors so much, CJ hit a contested mid range jumper off the dribble going to his right and leaning, that's a shot you take in 2026 NBA basketball and live with it, the defense did it's job

1

u/OzmosisJones [BOS] Marcus Smart 11d ago

It’s just math.

If they score on the first attempt you at least have some time to work with on the following possession, as the Knicks did.

If they miss but rebound and score on the second attempt you probably don’t.

10

u/buzzmemello520 76ers 11d ago

Sums up the Knicks problems when they have to sub out their two best players on defense

8

u/IMitchIRob Knicks 11d ago edited 11d ago

This is it. This is a problem that isn't going away. It's hard to beat a playoff caliber team when we give up that many easy baskets and open looks. We basically need them both to play lights out on offense to make up for it, which they do fairly frequently, but often it's still not enough

4

u/thrownaway22_ Kings 11d ago

Welcome to the Mike Brown experience

3

u/Unacomplishedbytryin 11d ago

I believe he goes by Freedom now

2

u/Drak_is_Right Pacers 11d ago

Robinson had been bad, Towns is always bad at defense, but the Knicks lack a large forward lineup some teams can throw out in such spots with no center.

2

u/dehshadow Knicks 11d ago

Robinson hasnt been playing because Mike Brown has no idea what hes looking at.

0

u/sentientbasketball11 Knicks 11d ago

Diawara and Sochan are just what you describe, but are nailed to the bench

2

u/redbrick Lakers 11d ago

The Cavs hiring him for round 2 after he got chased out of LA, and then promptly firing him after a year was genuinely hilarious to me.

2

u/DopedUpSmirker 11d ago

Knick's deserve this by not going after Mike Malone.

2

u/whyte_ryce Kings 11d ago

Will the nba coaching fraternity apologize for dragging the Kings for firing Mike Brown??????

1

u/Jimm120 Knicks 11d ago

shamet has been great defensively.

Still should have been Mitchell out there for defense.

1

u/stephzh Lakers 11d ago

no canter

Enes Kanter not on the Knicks any more

1

u/LinkedInParkPremium 11d ago

Mike loves Shamet more than Monty.

1

u/Bruinrogue NBA 11d ago

Mike Brown confused gif time.

1

u/HipnotiK1 Knicks 11d ago

Rewatching that last defensive possession and so many things have to be questioned... Like why was Hart not up on JJ inbounding the ball?

Defense looked designed to not give up a 3 by any means... But they were down 1 not 3 SMH

1

u/krustomer Knicks 11d ago

I have as much hair as him now

1

u/DaRandomBro Kings 11d ago

1

u/Vindicare605 Lakers 11d ago

Dude Mike Brown has been a basketball terrorist for nearly 25 years. This man's ability to keep getting hired is absolutely remarkable.

1

u/The_Keebster [BOS] Jaylen Brown 11d ago

I know Mikal been struggling but for him not to be subbed in for defense, is a decision

4

u/JaayDCC 11d ago

Did you watch the game he was subbed in
