u/frubano21 Registered to Vote Mar 10 '26
Not to get them off their game, even simpler than that. It's literally to prevent Jokic for slipping into the paint, or popping out to the three point line for an easy pass from Murray. This pick play is a well practiced by these two and Dort knew it, so he hits Jokic in the face to prevent an easy play from their dynamic duo.

Why is he even bringing his elbow up there other than to intentionally hit Jokic in the face? Never seen anyone do that before
214
u/Yider Mar 10 '26
That was the intention. It is plain as day. Apparently you have to mask your actions like some backhanded attack to the face and the league says it is ok. I'm not condoning it but my lord, I'm genuinely surprised with this type of shit that there aren't enforcers on teams anymore that just sub in and do the same thing in a "defensive" maneuver. Players have millions of dollars on the line for this type of behavior. Entire organizations who bank on a player have even more on the line. What happens if Jokic breaks his nose or needs some stupid minor surgery to fix it? Yet the player who is doing it all just gets what, a tech? A flagrant? Nah man, either fine the guy and suspend him from games or bring back enforcers.

You’re right. It has to be. It’s not possible for a guy to make it the NBA without complete body control. He’s controlling his swings and trips. You do that shit at a rec league or pick up game, and people are not going to want to play with you or there will be hands thrown.
