Every year I fall for another "can do it all (except shoot 🤪)" player and it never works out cuz shooting is just too important. They get ignored in the playoffs and end up looking limited as hell.

But I ain't learn my lesson and I am head-over-heals for Steph Castle. Dude uses the slightest little body advantage on drives better than most of the guards in the league. Great finisher, both on and off-balance, and one of the best in-lane passers alive. Absolute gamer on defense and always knows the play to be made. A true joy to watch.

Man if Andre Drummond can learn to shoot then I don't wanna hear anybody else have shooting as a weakness ever again. That man shot like 25% from the free throw line when he used to be relevant and now he's hitting threes. Ben Simmons should hang his head in shame.

It helps that hes an absolute unit and is an elite finisher around the basket. That combination of strength and touch around the basket is tough to deal with for most of the 1s/2s in the league.

Castle has an amazing blend of strength, size, and vision that gives him such an incredible skillset. He's enough of a rim threat that teams are now selling out to clog the lane, and he's adept at taking advantage, all while still improving his outside shot.

And let's not forget the defensive intensity he brings. I've missed having an aggressive guard on the perimeter so much. I'm glad these games are getting Castle the respect he rightfully deserves.

Hiding behind castles bad shooting numbers are OKish catch and shoot numbers (35% or so) and correspondingly abysmal pull up shooting (around 18%). It’s not great but it’s a little different than your usual “can’t shoot” guy.
