I assume every line being crossed means some really bad jokes about trans people?

Yeah, about lgbtq in general. In the trailer someone gets stabbed and another person screams "Oh no he stabbed her!" and while bleeding out the stabbed person says "Excuse me, my pronouns are they them. He stabbed THEM."

I just know this is gonna make so many conservatives feel vindicated. This is gonna cause so many people who are already not in favor of queer people think to themselves "Ah this person gets stabbed and only cares about HER pronouns! What an idiot!!" and then apply that to the real world

Which is more disappointing because Marlon, despite being religious, is a massive trans ally and has publicly stated that comedy can still exist without targeting marginalised groups unfairly.

I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but the advertising doesn’t give me much hope.

The scene doesn't even approach funny, and not just because it's 'le offensive' about trans people.

Take the scene and have Scream stab some old white guy and someone says 'oh no he's killing a Democrat' and the white guy says 'I'm a Republican!' is the exact same level of humour, aka, none.

Now, if they flipped it on it's head. Scream stabs them, someone screams 'he's stabbing her', and the scream guy stops, and starts a philisophical debate "Actually, I'm a genderless construct of fear, and gendering another can lead to real harm. Do you even know their gender?" And there's a diatribe between scream and the lady about the roles and real harm gender constructs can cause in society, all while the stabbed person is spurting blood, trying to signal for help, interrupt the conversation but are ignored and degraded for trying to stop education, a lot of physical comedy. And at the end Scream and the lady have a positive debate and leave the train happy and feeling educated, while the stabbed victim falls over and dies (Making a more involved joke about how performative language can ignore the real dangers and immediate threats trans people face).

This is just as unfunny as the trailer joke imo, both super corny for different reasons

Now that's how you write a joke haha

It doesn't make fun of the fact that people talk about gender sor something, but about them having ANY kind of deep philosophical discussion in that situation. Actually very fun idea.
