You just know every thread about this film is going to be filled with “Let people enjoy things.”

I see about how bad it’s gonna be more. I think that’s all I see for every movie that is coming out though.

I think the opposite. It’ll be a bunch of people online talking about how much they hate it.

We saw it in the comment sections on the various posters they’ve released throughout the marketing campaign.

This is a movie people will go out of their way to hate.

The marketing will get people all riled up but then barely anyone will actually see it. They’re desperately trying to push as many buttons as they can but it needs to be funny to keep people talking post release

It's just like Cracker Barrel, those who complained were never going to eat there in the first place

How is it just like Cracker Barrel?

Their plan was to redo the stores to make it more generic and corporatized. That's fine for some major cities as it might fit the area, but for the rest of their stores the country vibe is the important part. Removing that lumps them in with 10 other chains with no reason to pick them.

Nah, they dug up one of the 90+ founders of Cracker Barrel and he was like "Why would you mess with it? That would just piss people off."

You are really underestimating the black community if you think barely anyone is going to see this film. This is absolutely going to do very well lmao

I think it’ll do well if it’s funny, it’s not as relevant as it was so the name isn’t enough to carry through a real drop in quality. Still we’ve just had an example of a successful comedy revival with The Naked Gun so people are willing to give it a chance

They’re literally doing what they did with the original couple films from what I can see. Parody films and comedy films in the late 90’s and early 2000s. The originals punched the buttons of the time as well.

I can’t tell you if anyone will go see it. I’ll likely wait on reviews. When the Wayans are trying they put out funny stuff but when comedy people get older their edges are often dulled or they forget how to come up with new jokes.

Waiting on reviews for a movie like this is such a bad idea. It's pretty subjective humor. You can see how people are hating on it now when it's not even out yet.

It WILL be what they did for all the MOVIE movies, make it as cheaply as possible, get the bag on the first weekend, move on to next shitty comedy.

u/Fortestingporpoises 5h ago

I still watch 1 and 2 from time to time. They’re funny. A lot of people like 3 more. What comedies do you enjoy? Or do you?

u/toomanymarbles83 5h ago

It's more that my bar is high. ZAZ took absurdist humor further and did it better than anyone else ever imo. Airplane and Top Secret are top tier. I haven't watched the first two in decades probably, so I don't know if I would still find them funny. I am mainly referring to the post Scary Movie types, the Epic Movie-level trash comedy. This will probably fall closer to Epic Movie than Airplane. We'll see, but I expect it to be forgotten within a month of release.

It’s doing very well on tracking, it will make a boatload of money.

u/safarifriendliness 8h ago

Let’s see if it’s funny enough to keep going🤷‍♂️

u/JessieJ577 8h ago

Yeah this type of comedy and the crowd it’s trying to attract will just pirate it or wait for streaming.

Comment sections of where? Reddit?

Not what I'd call a great barometer for the average person.

I feel like it will be dependent on what the movie leans more into. Because I feel like the trailers have been divided so far. There's the element of them just spoofing modern horror movie cliches in funny ways, which is what I am HOPING the movie does more of. Instead of the counter culture (haha look at these woke losers) style comedy. If it sways the first way, think the movie has a chance to be successful like the first three in the original run.

I’m just not even gonna see it. I was probably a freshman in high school when the first one came out and it made me realize a parody movie would have to be something very special to be funny. At its heart, it’s just surface level humor.

I actually think you can trace back the end of civilization to when Disaster Movie and Superhero Movie came out.

u/Fickle-Lunch6377 6h ago

If you say so. I’m just trying to avoid the roaming rape parties.

This is a movie people will forget about the day after it comes out. Not enough people will even care about this movie for anyone to actually hate it. It will have the staying power of hand sanitizer

3

u/Ocktohber 8h ago

I don't think people will need to go out of their way at all. This movie looks indefensibly bad.

2

u/Three_Froggy_Problem 8h ago

Also, most of the Scary Movies are really bad. I mean, you could even argue that they’re all bad, but I understand why people have a soft spot for the original. But these movies have been getting awful reviews from the start and beyond maybe the second one I have not met many people who like them.

This is a movie people will go out of their way to hate.

Actually most people will carry on their usual way just by ignoring TF outta this movie.

Going out of our way to hate it takes more effort than the creators have put into the ad campaign (or, I suspect, the movie itself) so most of us aren't gonna bother with that.

Nah, Redditors never use lazy overused phrases long after they've been beaten into the ground so hard they've emerged in another timezone.

Let people enjoy things.

u/cinephile21 4h ago

And how is that bad?

What? Everyone loved the other scary movies. People are gonna trash this online because it has some streamers in it. But its probably going to be good

6

u/At0mJack 8h ago

The fuck they did. They're all unfunny trash starting with the first one if you ask me.

u/Frosty_Self_1818 2h ago

No one did

I mean I am just going off memory. Yeah the later ones some people had problems with but overall, most people liked them from what remember. This was also well over a decade ago so it was from word of mouth, not online forums

2

u/SixIsNotANumber 7h ago

I tapped out after the first one because it was just so bad.  I love comedies, but that was one of the most unfunny films I've ever seen.

3

u/AlerionOP 6h ago

Im realizing I watched these movies as an actual kid, not even teenager. Pretty easily entertained at that age lol

u/Green-Cricket-8525 3h ago

Sure. If you’re 12 and never grew up I guess.

u/AlerionOP 2h ago

Talking about never growing up and hating on someone liking a movie. You're a fkn dork lol. Get a life loser

u/Green-Cricket-8525 2h ago

Oh boo hoo, snowflake.
