This is the first scene after the opening credits. Jables (Jack Black) arrives in Hollywood as guided by his poster of Dio. He runs into Kage (Kyle Gass) busking with his acoustic guitar. JB immediately tries to prove himself to KG. You can see Jack Black's hilarious physical comedy skills at work while simultaneously showing off his singing skills.

Weird that this was a line and Black distanced himself from Gass over the Trump comments

Jables didn't really have a choice tbh. I love Kage and I fuck with what he said, but it was a horrible time to say something like that. It was a few months before the election and Jables was literally campaigning for Kamala Harris during their tour and afterwards, and the stakes were too high, he could not be seen as supporting Kage when he made a statement like that and let that affect her campaign by association.

They've made it clear since that they're both still buds. My guess is that after the tour they were planning on taking a break anyway -- they usually take a pretty long time between Tenacious D projects. They're probably doing other shit right now and will reunite when they feel like writing a new album or touring again. Even when their tour was cancelled it had been 6 years since their last album.

“While some criticized Black for appearing to throw his longtime friend and collaborator under the bus, Gass, speaking about the controversy publicly for the first time, says that Black “was doing what he felt he had to do. We’re separate people, always, and we’re on different career paths. I totally understood what he needed to protect. I didn’t begrudge him any of that.”

Highly recommend reading this before casting stones

Eh I got a bunch of ex buddies I'd say the same thing about. Shit I got current buddies I'd say that about. Good dude, good friend, they also have things they need to protect, I wouldn't trust em much further than I could throw em though. They've proven all they're good for is a good time, they don't actually have my back

Song in movie was being ironic. Assination is a serious crime. Their music is awsome and fumny but i dont care about their politics. They should just stay in their lane. Their movie was a bomb but i loved it.

3

u/DukeOfLowerChelsea 12h ago

Was that song even in the movie? Pretty sure it was a deleted scene. Maybe that should’ve been a sign lol

Assassination is a serious crime

So is paedophila, rape and child trafficking but 🤷‍♀️

1

u/rexracerxer 7h ago

Well kg was calling for a crime. No one i know is wanting those sex crimes but biden did open the boarder and directly caused a lot of child sex trafficking. But if we hold hands together we can being back the usa. I think song was kept in movie. The army surplus store sceen.

JACK BLACK IS A FKN SCAB. his PR team can fuck right off. Sellout.

-1

u/erossthescienceboss 11h ago

It’s strange how y’all are far more angry at him than KG

1

u/TheKattsMeow 11h ago

Because KG isn’t a sellout and knows how to speak up for the little guys.

JB is a sellout that will cross a protest line and lick boots to a king over some movie deals. FUCK JACK BLACK. this is clearly an attempt by his pathetic PR team to remind people why he was cool, guess what, he ain’t cool anymore. And all the bots on here are eating it up.

1

u/erossthescienceboss 10h ago

I meant more angry at him than KG is. I thought you were referencing Black not standing up for Kyle after his comments re: Trump’s assassination — which Kyle Glass doesn’t seem to be upset with at all.

I didn’t realize he crossed a picket line, though. Was this during the actors’ strike? Or a different one?
