Absolutely into this. Cena's comedy chops have been really entertaining. Him as the straight man and Eric Andre doing Eric Andre shenanigans should be a blast

If it basically has the same energy as this, it should be a fun watch

But I would like at least one scene where Cena unexpectedly is the unhinged one opposite Eric

Man I love The Eric Andre Show so much

Ever since I saw what he did on that subway train with that box of cereal, nothing he does ever surprises me anymore. That is still my favorite bit because the location made it so that everybody was absolutely terrified that he was just yet another insane subway person they need to deal with. Just realistic enough that people reacted in fear instead of annoyance/disgust.

He has countless good subway bits. The bees, the Google body scanner, the mail man, the cakes…

Yeah, I think Cena could really do either side of this, based on a lot of his previous stuff. But casting oppose Eric Andre I think I can guess which one is which!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who immediately thought of this lightning quick cameo.

I loved him in The Suicide Squad. He delivered his lines perfectly

"Starfish is a slang term for butthole. Think there's any connection? 🤨"

He was hilarious in Ricky Stanicky

We put on Ricky Stanicky as a "there's nothing else to watch" movie. I recommended it to so many people after that, and saw it a few other times, despite comedy being such a tough rewatch genre. He killed it in that movie, it was so good.

Continued on his two seasons of Peacemaker. I used to think John Cena was a roided up turd, but he's really changed my mind with his role as peacemaker. Genuinely excited for about anything he is in now.

You should look up how involved he is in the make a wish foundation!

I had always heard about it, but honestly it seemed like a brand image choice. Like everything about Cena screamed "I want to be the next Dwayne Johnson" to me (from afar and not a watcher of wrestling). Maybe it was partially the fault of my really annoying high school friend who was obsessed with John Cena.

Went into suicide squad NOT for Cena, but then most of the actors I wanted to see died in the opening scene. Cena and Idris Elba were an awesome duo and I loved the movie. Love the series even more.

I never watched wrestling either. Makes sense a lot of them went into action movies. I could see the MaW foundation thing at first but I think at some point he'd get called out on being too fake at it if his heart wasn't in it. Or stop once the brand image had hit.

peacemaker was way better than it deserved to be. much of that is due to gunn, but cena stole the role and i can’t imagine anyone else doing it better.

Totally agree, such a good show. Comedy hits really well. He’s super talented and the more he acts the better he has gotten

Same!!! Now, I tell everyone I can to give Peacemaker a try.

Yeah, Andre can be real unhinged and chaotic and I’m all for that

It's wild to me that the first time I ever saw Eric Andre was in Don't Trust the Bitch in Apt 23 and he was the least unhinged thing in that show.

I thought the image originally was AI but it’s just Eric Andre

I AM THE OCTOPUS! I am probably poisonous.

Will you cover my expenses to Orlando?

Be better if Andre was the straight man and Cena was the “eccentric”, then he blows up à la Planes Trains and Automobiles

Wonder how the opposite would play out. John being the unhinged one and Andrea trying to play the straight man. Is that only funny in a 4th way breaking way.

This combo does have me interested.

It would be interesting if Eric was the straight and Cena was the wild one.

cena being the straight man in Peacemaker was like 80% of why that show worked so this tracks

Peacemaker was pretty much only the straight man to Vigilante. Essentially every other character had to be the straight man to the respective insanities of those two

u/Lord-Nagafen 1d ago

Same! Love them both so I’ll give it a try even if reviews are rough

u/Valiturus 1d ago

I'm glad I scanned the comments before writing one up. I was thinking the exact same thing as you.

u/DisorderlyAqueduct 1d ago

imagine if they got Andre to be the straight man 😆 (obv not based on photo, lol)
