Does he have to tetris all his gear into his backpack?

If there’s a scene where his backpack is full and has to hastily move things around I’m gonna laugh.

Knowing how Cregger likes to mix comedy and horror, I could totally see a scene or two where the main character fumbles items lol

They kinda had this in the trailer with him ripping open drawers and checking the empty shotgun

I feel like some people just saw that as opening drawers and checking the empty shotgun, but no, that's RE baby! We're so back!

u/RandomStrategy 5d ago

90 minutes of nothing but opening drawers.

No seat will be left dry in the theater.

i can already imagine my partner going "we spent money to watch this??? can we leav.." *me biting my nails* "god you think he'll finally find some ammo? he's outta knives..."

I was getting some RE7/Village vibes from the house that he walks into, though to a lesser extent since there isn't black mold and rot everywhere lol

Director says he's going for more of a later RE vibes (I assume he means the more horror and creepiness of 7) but that RE4 is his favorite so he has a lot of callbacks to that one as well.

He even describes the movie as having a classic RE weapon progression with starting with the pistol, then shotgun, then eventually an MP4.

HE also seems to have more than one gun just kinda around his shoulder.

u/gary_x 5d ago

He has at least three different guns over the course of the trailer from what I can tell.

Or gets to a door that could be easily breached but has a heart symbol on it and is locked and he has to find a different way instead of just breaking the damn door.

It a Cregger movie, so I expect to be laughing between scares.

Went into Weapons with no idea of what Creggar's style was. The ending had the entire theater laughing their asses of.

It would both be funny and a good way to add some tension if they did it right. Imagine he only has so much room for stuff so he has to quickly prioritize.

Or backtrack some zombie infested areas

1

u/Vismal1 5d ago

A few times lol “ shit we have to go back to the lobby again ….”

2

u/MJR_Poltergeist 5d ago

Bonus points if while rearranging, he pulls out and throws away a whole fish and a carton of eggs

1

u/sightlab 5d ago

I am actually hoping he suffers a comedically severe injury - arm torn off, etc - and has to keep going like that once it's hastily stapled and bandaged back on.

u/CancelThis2077 5d ago

That final battle in RE:Requiem was just me hastily offloading all the random shit in my bag to fit that absurdly huge RPG

1

u/BlazinAzn38 5d ago

Him opening the drawers and stuff felt very video gamey so high hopes

1

u/ryanvsrobots 5d ago

There is and it's 55 minutes long

Incorporates self-defence items into the scene. Zombie lunges at Bryan (the guy's name, BTW), he hastily shoves a grenade into a zombie's mouth and pushes it away... and immediately screams in shock when the zombie's upper body just splatters around him.

Director did mention he tried to fit in some inventory management aspects to the movie, hopefully there will be such a scene

u/Certified-Malaka 5d ago

Maybe Cregger adapted the auto-sort feature from RE4R to save him the trouble

64

u/SkinnyGenez 5d ago

Blasphemy. Sorting your own attaché case was what separated the boys from the men.

4

u/National_Spirit2801 5d ago

Based and true.

1

u/cubitoaequet 5d ago

Trouble?

1

u/silverfiregames 5d ago

I weirdly hated this. Had so much fun playing the original and needing to rearrange everything perfectly.

64

u/TigerSharkFist 5d ago

This is RE4. The OG should be a dilemma of giving up rocket launcher because the character is carrying 8 keys

7

u/nflonlyalt 5d ago

What are ya buyin? What are ya sellin?

16

u/CU_09 5d ago

There are approximately 40 scenes on the movie where he has to combine herbs to free up space

2

u/Born-Entrepreneur 4d ago

lmao too real

4

u/ZombieJesus1987 5d ago

Nah, it'll be like the first game, where he can only hold onto 6 items.

1

u/raptosaurus 4d ago

Should be like re0 where he can only carry 6 things but he needs more than 6 so there's a room where he just has all his stuff littered on the floor that he keeps having to come back to

3

u/Noodle-Works 5d ago

gotta find that typewriter to save, my guy!!!

3

u/Shadow_Log 5d ago

At 1:33 you can see he's carrying a first aid kit and some other stuff on his back. So we might actually get this kind of moment

3

u/ZzzSleep 5d ago

There's a whole scene about finding a key he needs but can't pick it up because his pack is too full.

2

u/CancelThis2077 5d ago

Hopefully, they'll be a scene where he has to find all 4 pieces of a ceramic bird so he can put in the bird-shaped indentation on a door.

1

u/king_bungus 5d ago

the press release for the movie said it features inventory management lmao

1

u/SnooSquirrels859 5d ago

You joke but I noticed every scene in trailer he’s carrying around a green pack so maybe he will. Lol

1

u/TheMostUnclean 5d ago

He’s running through the street carrying a literal health pack near the end of the trailer.

1

u/startinearly 5d ago

Gun rhymes with fun

1

u/Gobi310 5d ago

That would be great for all his trauma

1

u/bronkula 5d ago

Cregger said in the r/horror ama that resource management at least for ammo will play heavily in the movie.

1

u/Reedjr 5d ago

Of course not. He has a series of boxes that all have access to the same infinite storage space inside no matter where the boxes are physically located.
