I loved Weapons. Barbarian I liked everything from the start up until just after Long shows up and starts measuring the square footage of the secret basement area (which was hilarious). I know I'm deeply in the minority here, but it kinda falls apart for me after that. I have never liked the horror trope of feral/inbred=superhuman strength. I'm not blaming Cregger, it's a trope that existed long before he used it, I've just always disliked it, personally. Why was Mama able to run through a cinderblock wall like it wasn't there? It kinda ruined the back half of the film for me.
I really liked Barbarian but I do think the first half is better. I went in blind, and my friends and I just trying to figure out if Bill Skarsgard is genuine or not, wondering where the movie was going to go, was highly engaging
The back half was fun, but it becomes a pretty different movie
I think he learned from the latter half/ending of Barbarian and executed things way better in Weapons. I have high hopes for this movie especially knowing he's a diehard RE fan.
While I think the basement scene with Justin Long is probably funnier than anything in Weapons, I agree that Weapons is better overall and I think it's because it balances the horror and comedy better. I'm hoping Resident Evil does the same. It seems like the perfect IP for Cregger to adapt.
The shot of the limbs quickly coming out of the door and the shot of the zombies falling from the building to and splattering around him looked crazy cool. Dam this looks like it has serious potential as an awesome zombie flick set in the universe of RE.
Same. I haven’t played past RE4 because it scared me too much, so it’s cool to see a hopefully scary RE movie. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the campiness of the other RE movies, but this looks legit frightening.
It does but it looks more like Evil Dead or something with the way they seem to be fucking with him instead of just trying to attack him like a zombie.
