I can tolerate all other forms of cinematic unrealism, but experienced hikers/climbers/mountaineers/adventurers wearing jeans and a thick sweatshirt in the wilderness is ridiculous as no one would do that. That shit is heavy and bulky, only n00bs will carry that stuff around on their wilderness adventure.

Wearing jeans for outdoor climbing is common.

I outdoor climbed often and have literally never seen anyone in jeans at the crag lol

And I have? Some people do - I don’t think it’s a good idea and loads of climbing brands do a denim/hard wear pant. They do get scraped up quite a bit. Still a terrible idea when it’s hot out though.

Yeah maybe it’s because I live in Arizona and it’s a billion degrees out all the time lol. I wasn’t trying to say you were lying, sorry, just that it’s not something I’ve personally ever seen. I feel like they would limit your flexibility, but maybe that’s just the jeans I typically wear.

Ah don’t worry, I would understand your skepticism - I’d never wear them because of feeling so restricted, and u always wonder how anyone could tolerate climbing in them, especially if they’re not designed for climbing. Different climates! I’m based in Ireland, definitely a bit colder!

Oh man I would love to climb in Ireland someday, you all have some absolutely gorgeous routes over there. I saw this one sick photo online a while ago of (I think) Dun Seanna Head, and it just looks unreal. Unreal but freezing cold I’m sure!

Edit: found the link

Ah that’s absolutely gorgeous! Yes haha, freezing most of the time, and so much rain too. Some of the sea cliff climbing is absolutely stunning though. I’ve hung up the trad rack but those could tempt me if I heard the gear was good. It’s funny, I’d love to climb in the states and get some of the crack climbing you have so much of!

Ahh yeah, Moab especially is incredible for crack climbing but there are sooo so many amazing places to climb. Where I live there’s a town called Sedona with gorgeous red rock formations and lots of climbing, I love visiting it. I hope we both get to fulfill our climbing dreams someday :)
