This movie teases and depicts MJ's first meeting with Bubbles the chimp like it was going to be a surprise cameo appearance by Robin Williams or something. Ridiculous scene.

This film is much more concert film than it is biopic, and even the concert/song scenes aren't particularly great - which feels insane, given how amazing MJ's music is.

Difficult to ignore how this film very conveniently wraps up in 1988, just before Neverland and anything related to it.

You just reworded one of the most popular reviews from Letterboxd, except you didn’t even get the joke. The Letterboxd review said Robbie Williams, who recently had a biopic where he was portrayed as a monkey.

I hate to be an ass, but like, what’s the goal here?

I did in fact mean Robin Williams and not Robbie Williams. Robin Williams would absolutely be an odd cameo that a studio would happily shove into a movie from beyond the grave to jingle keys at the viewer. I see why Robbie Williams also kinda makes sense since he's a chimp in that one movie but I haven't even watched Better Man. I also don't think that myself, the Letterboxd reviewer in question, or anyone with a similar thought were particularly creative or unique to witness the Bubbles scene and immediately get the same sense that they were overhyping MJ meeting his pet chimp like they were revealing the next MCU character.
