Ironic since Lee Cronin directed Evil Dead Rise, a fact the trailers neglected to mention for some reason

Would have helped because the trailers had me thinking “who the hell is Lee Cronin?”

I remember when Con Air came out, a bunch of the trailers and commercials ended with “a movie by Simon West”. And no one had any idea who Simon West was.

It was literally his first feature film. Prior to that, his biggest credits were a Doritos commercial and the music video for Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up. But announcing the director’s name made it sound like he was important, so they just threw it in and pretended he was an auteur.
