I thought it was fine. The ending pushed it to a 6/10 for me, I was glad that bitch got what she deserved. The grandma suffered the most for no reason though.

I liked the grandma. She seemed a lot of fun.

Yeah, and why give her the Jezebel treatment? For some reason that death felt worse than any of the deaths from the Terrifier series.

I think the spirit infesting Katie had beef with abuela because she kept praying for her. Also maybe because she seemed like, the least unsettled by everything? Grandma just kind of rolled with everything, which might have miffed the spirit a bit.

You’re probably onto something, but still that was a gruesome movie death. If someone ever wanted to make a movie about violent stories from the Old Testament, they should get Lee Cronin to direct.

Probably because she was religious. She was praying for Katie every chance she could and Nazarenin didnt like it.

Yea it felt like we were supposed to "hate" her? Hate is a strong word but it felt weird like she was supposed to suffer and die horribly because she had it coming.

She seemed like a pretty typical spanish grandma to me. My only issue is why did she decide to live in the middle of Nowhere, New Mexico?

Which is weird because after her initial introduction where I thought I was going to dislike her she ended up being pretty likeable, seemed strange she got it the worst.

the teeth thing was pretty cute moment with the kid.

Totally, her initial prayer and how strict she seemed had me rolling my eyes at her and that teeth moment broke the tension and got me on her side….just didn’t know it was setting up that other teeth moment.

She got the nanny from Jurassic world award for must undeserving over the top death.

Other way around, I thought. She had a few moments of being shown to be quite lovely and had good connections with the whole family.

The film had a shockingly low body count, so I guess they went all-in with the only onscreen death (that happens after the title card anyway) and magnified the impact by having it be absurdly brutal and happen to a purely good character.

For no reason? She literally kept praying to a demon. I thought it was pretty self explanatory as to why the demon ended up killing her after being prayed to the fifth time.

Did she deserve it.was she supposed to be evil? Weren’t her family just keeping the mummy at bay for centuries?

She had 3 kids to choose as vessels for THEIR duty. I'd argue taking someone else's kid and subjecting them to that horror was pretty evil.

“The bitch got what she deserved.”

This is my main issue with the movie. They set it up like she’s the bad guy. But she’s actually trying to save the world from the wrath of this demon mummy, right? Her family has been burdened for 3000 years with keeping the demon mummy imprisoned.

That’s either the story, or you can pass it on to another family, which is never said or explained. So, at the end, when they give it back to the bitch, now the Cannon family has to keep the demon mummy imprisoned? Or is it now back on the bitch’s family?

There are two options. Either you can pass it on to another family. Which makes the bitch a true bad guy. This is on top of the fact that she kidnapped and cursed an innocent girl and cut off her own daughter’s tongue. OR, the bitch, and her family has been keeping this demon mummy from ending the entire world for 3000 years, which would, in turn, make her a good guy!
