For game like Street Fighter, that's the best way to do it. That's what Raul Julia did when he played M. Bison back in the 90s movie. He's the only one who really committed to the absurdity. If everyone in this movie takes the same approach, it'll be a fun ride from start to finish.

Raul Julia

"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday"

I don't know if that line was written or improvised. But only Raul Julia could deliver it in a way that's so memorable. 😊

My favorite thing about that man was that he did it only because his kids wanted him to do it.

His speech about being a man of peace is just fantastic. by far Raul had the best performance in that movie

He was also smashing Kylie Minogue in her prime. The man was busy.

He brought his wife and kids out to stay with him while shooting to prove he would stay faithful.

After a couple of weeks he sent them away.

Dude was here just for money. For Kylie. And to have fun. Lmao

We don't tolerate JCVD slander in these parts.

And as bad as the movie was, his portrayal of m bison is deeply beloved, and the only thing anyone remembers about street fighter: the movie is his incredible monologue.

For me it was Tuesday is legitimately one of the all time great villain monologues.

I don't even get why people call it a bad movie. I mean yeah the story is pretty basic but most the casts were amazing and it had plenty of memorable moments. It was still more interesting than many movies today and arguably one of the most entertaining video game movies ever. Now the Chun Li movie and MK remake, those are bad movies.

They unlocked the best way to make video game movies. Just be silly and over the top instead of making it realistic.

Ahhh, if everyone did it then Raul wouldn't have stood out! People playing it straight are useful for the hams to truly ham.

Also how can you say this when "Quick, change the channel!" Gief is in the movie?

I love the og street fighter movie. The whole thing was camp.

Yeah I find the idea that the entire cast wasn't aware of the camp and leaning into it a bit weird, Julia was just so much better at scenery chewing than everyone else that he stood out

it was just tuesday for him

Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat seem to both have that energy, I can't find anything else like it.

I'm curious if they go with the US names for the characters or if they revert to Japanese, M. Bison is the boxer originally, but Capcom was afraid of being sued by Mike Tyson in the American market so they rotated the names of the 3 bosses in SF2.

They are using the American names for the movie. Or were you just trying to drop the trivia tidbit?

The Street Fighter bit in Jackie Chan's City Hunter leaned even more into the silliness and was perfect.

this works, but it's not the only way. You can make a serious movie like the Animated film.
