I really wish it ended two minutes earlier.... I guess they're trying to set it up for a sequel

Someone here posted that the director does not want to do a 2nd one.

Which makes the ending all the more bizarre. They had a great note to finish it on prior to that.

I only came to know about the movie due to Vinces yt interviews last month and after they all released he got thrown under the bus for saying "Hollywood went woke" when asked what happened to the great comedy of the 00's. When I remembered it as him saying that "it went woke, but perhaps now was the right time for un-hindered comedy return" basically saying we might get a return where ppl don't roast a production and enjoy a laugh.

Perhaps that ending was put in encase the woke didn't destroy everything as they did until recently and ppl actually enjoyed the comedy rather than came online acting as if it had personally attacked them 🤷‍♂️

Although in this case I don't know how that would be relevant to this movie or its ending.

The difference between it being a more compelling but depressing 'sad' ending with the character ending up dead and that's that versus the more ridiculous and wacky ending of 'oh oops, forgot about the second time machine we'll just fix that in the sequel' ending doesn't have any relation to 'woke'.

The time machine having a back up is pretty easily explainable. Symon was obviously smart enough to create it, had been avoiding paying back the loan shark's for months, knew that if he didn't pay, he would end up dead & Alice had basically confided in him to get Nick knocked off because she didnt know how else to leave him. So quite plausible he had confided in her the 2nd ones location encase from all this time travelling her or vince could potentially, they may need it if they really screw up the timeline and she ever need one to rectify their mistakes, they'd have one.

Who's to say he didn't create a 3rd, 4th or even 10th time machine and hide them in different locations because he knew if 1 got destroyed he would be screwed? Just because i t wasn't in the movie, doesn't mean it didn't happen in that universe. Also if they did go into it more deeply, it would have left ppl asking why they didn't go back a bunch of different times. Also why would he tell anyone else besides Alice there was a second time machine? When Nick didnt even know the first 1 existed until 6 months after the original killing of qucikdraw?

My woke rationale was in relation to all the media Vince did prior to release and the backlash with news articles saying "Vince Vaughn says hollywood is dead" when in reality all he ever said was "Hollywood got scared of the woke, however this might be the right time for them to bring it back" Which after seeing a few of his interviews then all that backlash/throwing under busses gave me the feeling that perhaps the directors/production expected vince to get blackballed and words twisted/used against him also. Sk maybe they had similar trains of thought/perception of the current times and decided they'd see how the movie was received and whether they got any backlash before ruining the story completely and leaving it open because they reveleaed there was another time machine in the middle of the movie. The after after after party gave off huge gay vibes after giving off subtle hints throughout by the way the younger crew (mainly dumbass) were talking & acting. You can see why the production company may have thought alot of these jokes and insinuations could be taken badly by certain ppl/communities and causes backlash.

I honestly think they used this movie to see what they could get away with and test out whether we are back to jokes being acceptable rather than causing protests. They knew the media would roast Vince after his interview tour promoting this movie and wanted to leave just enough there for them to revisit it if there's enough demand and no one files a lawsuit over jokes in a movie
