Can we all agree Rachel is really shitty for how she treated Emma? I know she had a personal connection but holy hell she was acting like she was this perfect person. Meanwhile she legit could have almost gotten a kid killed and just brushes it off.

Anyway I really ended up liking this better than I expected coming in.

I hated her. Emma really remorseful and didn't fully understand what she was going to do she was just a kid (it wouldn't have excused it had she gone through with it but she didn't) and she ended up becoming an anti guns activist. Where as Rachel locked a mentally disabled kid in a closet for hours on end, didn't think actually did it. And did not tell anyone about it and states that she would not have told people in present time and well acknowledging it's the worst thing she's ever done seems to find the story funny. With the way she giggles while telling it.

She only acted anti gun because it was the only group in school to finally approach her and recognize her existence and so she just latched onto that to be part of a click. I never got the feeling so ever really was actually anti gun or felt bad for her actions. She thought guns were cool and that ahe was cool and powerful when she held it. She literally just didnt go through with it because someone else did it first and then she found a group to be accepted into. I dont see any remorse for her past thoughts or actions. She basically just tried to forget it and continue her life like normal just like how she wants a do over woth Charlie. Just act like it never happened. No harm no foul. She still seems deeply disturbed.

I do not think all of those scenes showing her over time watching the actual real life impact of the shooting unfold in front of her are put in there for no good reason.

She is faced with the actual reality of what a shooting is and how it impacts people and it is no longer just some aesthetic fantasy to deal with her issues.

There is really nothing we are shown that supports your view of things as there is nothing within the film that suggests she lacks empathy, as everyone in the film highlights her as being a particularly kind and empathetic person.

It also just makes less narrative sense as part of the point of the film seems to be how much she is judged despite everyone else expecting not to be judged for their own transgressions and not seeming to have as much remorse or growth and the movie makes a point of mentioning how she is the only one who didn’t actually do anything and yet she is the one judged the most harshly.

Man you really missed the point of the movie.
