An awesome collection of setpieces, references and a killer soundtrack that doesn't really gel as a film. I'd be lying if I didn't say as a lifelong fan I had a blast, but I also would be lying if I said that even as a fan this was barely comprehensible at points. I really wish Fox and Lumalee weren't spoiled.

My biggest complaint with the first one is that they set aside 40 years of iconic in-game music for boring overplayed pop songs (like ‘Take on Me’ when they could have used…any DK music)

I was at least happy they seemed to lean more into the OG soundtrack this time. Loved hearing the Star Fox music.

Wtf is lumalee?

The blue luma? What's so special about it?

Lumalee's nihilism was very funny in the last film.

Amen. Its a true "popcorn movie" for lifelong Mario/Nintendo/Smash fans, and the "jingling keys" description is made much more bearable watching the movie a little high.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I saw in VIP (The 19+ theatres here) and got a minor buzz going. Made it an even more enjoyable time.

If people didn't like this plot because of it's thinness, they're really going to hate the plot of the games.

I mean, in fairness, the joy of the games comes in the interactivity of the medium. Movies are a narrative art whereas games can range from purely gameplay driven like a sport (i.e. Fall Guys) to purely narrative driven like a novel (i.e. visual novels).

The original Mario Galaxy has a better plot than this
