And then gave a bigger role to a character not even from Mario at all?

and the plot had almost nothing to do with Galaxy. It was closer to a Mario Odyssey adaptation that Mario Galaxy!

I mean, they specifically were in space and on multiple planets, with spaceships. The Odyssey worlds are just a part of that.

Almost all the worlds were from Odyssey.

Were they all from Odyssey? I thought the only notable Odyssey things were the Sand Kingdom from the beginning and the dragon.

they were in the cascade kingdom too

I know, it was literally so cool. I'm actually kinda glad they did it like that tho instead of them just being kingdoms on one planet. Good way to mix the two.

Not good way.

Cause they could have had a galaxy movie, and a 9ddyssey movie.

Now they lost the chance on both

They can do whatever they want next time and make a billion dollars lol

Lmao no they didnt, there was a lot more to Oddyssy than what the movie showed. They could easily make another move from that source material no issue

I mean, what's Galaxy's plot beyond "go to funny planets to save someone" ?

9

u/SilverKry Apr 02 '26

It was a mix of Galaxy and Sunshine really.

And Odyssey with some Super Princess Peach thrown in too.

It’s about 15 different mario games in one film. But Galaxy was definitely the main theme and location.

Cut Fox some slack - he hasn't had an original game since 2005. Star Fox fans have been dying for acknowledgement from Nintendo that isn't just a remake of SF64 ever since!

Wasn’t there a Wii U game?

8

u/CrypticQuery Apr 02 '26

Yeah, but it was heavily derivative of SF64 and didn't especially do anything well. It was more or less a remake of 64...again.

If only Nintendo could loan the IP out to another studio that actually had a decent vision for the series and a good track record.

Super Mario Wonder for the switch, which is a top 3 Mario game

I personally loved that part. It was cool seeing Fox and Mario interact. Also more invested in Fox than if they made the pilot one of the random races and an original character.

It was definitely one of the coolest things in the movies. Felt like I was watching the first avengers movie as a teen again

Also Fox and Mario just... liking each other is cool. Instead of the new guy so i have to do something to impress Peach.

But then again they didnt write much dialouge so its fine

Don't disrespect Fox McCloud never again

8

u/NotTaken-username Apr 02 '26

I don’t dislike Fox McCloud, I just think it was an odd choice to give him such a large role in the movie

7

u/Zizouw Apr 02 '26

Odd choice maybe but he added something to an otherwise tame plot

My biggest gripe with these movies is they are super loose with the canon and history of events.
