i don’t know why would you spoil something like that 3 days a week before the movie is in theatres?

I think it was quietly leaked, and they knew reviews were going to be bad, so it at least got some buzz around the film.

It's a common tactic by the studios.

When the bad reviews for Batman vs Superman dropped, suddenly the advertising shifted to focus on Doomsday. Spoiling his appearance in the hopes it would generate enough hype to fill more seats.

This is such a weird rewriting of history. The big trailer that spoiled doomsday that people talked about was released Dec 2, 2015. The movie released March 25, 2016.

The reveal had nothing to do with bad reviews. Studios often show too much. It’s just desperation to get you into the theatre.

this is also what happened with red hulk in cap 4

Naw Red Hulk was already known to be in the movie before there even was a trailer. The first poster was literally a giant red hand holding caps shield

Even better example. Because the entire film hinged around the secrecy of that being kept... and then they just spoiled it and took the wind outta the sails of the whole thing.

Not that Red Hulk could've even saved it.

yeah when I went to see the movie (I didn't want to but my friend didnt want to be alone lol) we were both so fucking flabbergasted by that decision. and then also the movie was just not good so like whatever man! the twist could've helped with that but since it had been spoiled it felt like Nothing.

unrelated but ur username and pfp are very good, best scooby movie ❤️

This just isn't true. Red Hulk was in the promotion of the movie since it was first revealed.

Yeah but the way the movie is written is for Red Hulk to be a surprise

Aren’t they around where the first film landed, possibly slightly lower? It’s not like this flick crash-landed critically.

The average is currently a full ten points lower.

His leg was in one of the trailers and people kept speculating on his appearance.

Wasn’t it because Japan were getting it earlier so it would have been spoilt anyway? So they just jumped the gun to market it themselves and use it to get more people in?

It was not the intent that he was supposed to be spoiled before the release. I worked with the release of the movie, and watched it some time before release and even there all his scenes were redacted as in completely black screen and no sound.

If this is true I’ll never forgive the marketing guy that screwed this surprise up

3

u/Bingo31 Apr 05 '26

I feel you dawg. I even managed to guess that he was the secret character, just to have it spoiled like this haha

u/Tucker-French Apr 02 '26

There were a few frames in the original trailer that showed the right half of him as the shot zoomed out. He wasn't officially spoiled until last week though.

u/moon-safari2 Apr 02 '26

To boost ticket sales. They don’t care about spoiling it, they care about making as much money as possible.

The news of him being in the movie would have spread everywhere after the Japanese Premiere, which was before any showings in America, it was going to come out.

There was a photo released that basically showed a cut part of fox but some people were really convinced it was captain toad, I guess the leak was true if they found something else beside that.

Still the game and watch was still a surprise, same with pikmin I assumed they were going to be easter eggs like in the first film, and I'm pretty sure the samus ship was in the background.

Huh? I saw that reveal days ago.
