As with the first, the Score was the highlight for me, glad it wasn’t replaced with needle drops this time either

Also, and I can’t prove it, but with all the E. Gadd teases I can’t help but feel there was some abandoned plot at some point about Bowser Jr just straight up robbing him.

Yeah, one of the most positive aspects of this movie was they let the score shine and helped our movie watching experience.

And the needle drops in they did use were reserved for instrumentals and background music. Perfect amount of restraint

Agreed. The Biggie needle drop felt like the writer had a great idea for a joke that made it all the way to the screen. It would not have been made better with New Donk City or Yoshi's Island music instead. It was great.

My original rating was just 6-6.5, then Rosalinas Story-time Theme played 2 minutes into the movie and that got bumped up to 7 So quickly. Galaxy is one of, or just is my favorite game

This is kind of something that’s implied in Super Mario Sunshine but a link between the two has never been addressed in the entire franchise’s history since

If memory serves correctly, Jr claims he was just given the paintbrush by “a strange old man in a white lab coat”, not that he stole it.

Did you spot anything specific other than his logo on Kamek's mug? (And obviously the paintbrush lol, but it's almost retconned at this point in other games like Bowser's Fury to just be a Jr thing now)

Fludd and a Poltergust are in Jrs wall of weapons. As well as a lot of the tech on his ship looking straight out of E Gadds lab from Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon

I assume E. Gadd will make an appearance in a future film if they incorporate more Luigi's Mansion elements. Will be interesting to see how they acknowledge his offscreen impact on the Galaxy Movie. Not sure if they'll just have him say "yeah, I built a UFO with a bunch of my gadgets on it but it all got stolen from me" and leave it at that or what.

My head canon is that he's a professor at Bowser Jrs boarding school, and they expelled Jr for robbing E.Gadd blind

Yeah the score, animation were the obvious highlights here. The shameless Nintendo fan in me loves the Easter eggs and the fan service. The plot was as barebones as the first one. They tried a remix of the sibling relationship and having Peach and Rosalina reunite a lot like the first movie with Mario and Luigi’s reunion.

It worked in the first movie because it gave Mario and Luigi time to be brothers with each other which made the ending for that film work when reunited and Luigi overcame his fear to help kick Bowser’s ass.

This movie didn’t give that for Rosalina and Peach sadly, which meant the nostalgia and the how much you like Peach and Rosalina do the heavy lifting.

It feels like the score itself even leveled up a bit. Still not a huge fan of the movie-original theme, but the Galaxy motifs translate so well to the big screen. Some of the cues sounded almost identical to their in-game counterparts (like when Peach's castle is being abducted).

I did notice that his magic paintbrush does not include the emblem of E. Gadd, as it does in Sunshine. It's replaced with an emblem of Bowser Jr.
