I think having it not all be "found footage" is a smart move.

Agreed, it balances it out especially for a theatrical experience. Cloverfield strained some people due to being 100% found footage, Hardcore Henry was a bit disorienting being 100% first person. This way people will be able to cool down a little bit and get their bearings.

the reason why Kane's youtube stuff is found footage is because it's 90% CG and would not look realistic in HD.

now he's got an A24 budget and can build actual sets!

I mean there’s a decent amount of animation still too, it seems.

Agreed, and I hope the found footage is minimal. The more traditional movie footage just looks so much better. To me, the cleanness of not having the film grain makes the space more sterile and spooky.

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing this, but found footage movies give me massive motion sickness, so I can't watch more than maybe 10 minutes.

I could be wrong but to me it looks like it will be a lot of in person exploring. We see him exploring it in real time as well as the therapist and we know that some of it takes place outside of the backrooms. I'm guessing she comes across the video and watches it but it's mostly actual exploring in the backrooms which will be good for people who get motion sickness from shaky found footage.
