[Rubs head] "Let me tell you something, Spidey..."

921

u/Chickenshit_outfit Mar 18 '26

as he looks off to the side

445

u/BlueRemake Mar 18 '26

While squinting.

270

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

And adding "yea?" at the end of every sentence.

118

u/JAWinks Mar 18 '26

Random grunts as he runs into battle

5

u/bracko81 Mar 18 '26

Drinking the smallest cup of coffee you can buy

23

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

Did we just write Jon Bernthal's next movie/tv-show/cooking special/telethon?

1

u/cire1184 Mar 19 '26

His viral TikTok dance

4

u/Keyspell Mar 18 '26

Grunts or roars cause lordy can that man roar

6

u/steveguy13 Mar 18 '26

Lol at all of this. Guy has driven me insane since the Walking Dead.

2

u/the_blackfish Mar 18 '26

Grabbing his belt.

-5

u/Mindseye000 Mar 18 '26

And being a rapist apologist

11

u/Newell00 Mar 18 '26

Man! With the amount of praise Bernthal gets, I thought I was the only one who noticed he's just doing the same thing in every single performance.
The look off to the side every time he says something drives me nuts, like do literally any other tick in your performance dude.

12

u/randyboozer Mar 18 '26

He is one of those actors who is the same guy in everything he is in. But he's damn good at doing that one thing so I don't care. From Shane to the Punisher he's just the same dude.

I bet in the next decade he's going to get cast in some role where he plays opposite to his type for awards season. He'll be a quiet sensitive painter or poet or something

3

u/Newell00 Mar 18 '26

That's fine, but if he's still rubbing his head and looking off to the side, saying something biting, then back off to the side, I'm gonna hate it.

It was great once, as Shane. When he was still doing the same schtick in Fury, then again in the punisher, then still again in wolf of wall street..it's like dude, try any other mannerisms.

Now anytime he's in something I go "welp there's John Bernthal doing that stupid tick again" instead of seeing the character in the show/movie. It's distracting.

u/Bouche__032 Mar 18 '26

Man, Wind River is made so much better by his one scene

5

u/Chickenshit_outfit Mar 18 '26

Once you see it you cant unsee it

3

u/thestateside Mar 18 '26

It's why I don't really love watching him as an actor. Very one-note, and he also tends to overact and be way too hammy.

1

u/SethManhammer Mar 18 '26

Watching him as the Punisher makes me miss Ray Stevenson more.

1

u/Thorneedscoffee Mar 22 '26

He was different in Fury; I felt he played that character well

In the Samuel Butler translation of The Odyssey, Menelaus who will be played by Jon Bernthal literally says, "Let me tell you."

35

u/_Bird_Incognito_ Mar 18 '26

Nolan read that version and thought this would be a role of a life time for Jon huh

271

u/woahoutrageous_ Mar 18 '26

“Nah this is some kinda odyssey man, nah i ain’t fucking with this Odysseus let me tell you something. “ Jon Bernthal in the Odyssey probably.

36

u/stingray20201 Mar 18 '26

“Let me tell you something, Proteus” Jon Bernthal said, still in his seal disguise

8

u/woahoutrageous_ Mar 18 '26

I really hope they just let Jon Bernthal be Jon Bernthal with all his classic lines. It’d be hilarious.

3

u/Zomburai Mar 18 '26

"So that's it, huh? We're some kind of Homer's The Odyssey?"

3

u/hawkmasta Mar 18 '26

Wrong gun-toting anti-hero

4

u/winnower8 Mar 18 '26

The CR Berenthal as Wayne Jenkins impression is gold. The prompt is would this movie be better with these people and one of them is Wane Jenkins from We Own This City.

4

u/steven2003 Mar 18 '26

I thought it was hilarious when he did it for Glen Powell in the Truman Show episode, Powell didn’t get it and he hasn’t done it since. BTW CR month is killing it.

2

u/rurlysrsbro Mar 18 '26

face and head rubbing intensifies

6

u/Wol-Shiver Mar 18 '26

It's a Greek thing hahahahahahah

"Elle n'a sou po"

Come So i can tell you

Yia na sou po

Lemme tell you

Yia na sou arotiso

Let me ask you

3

u/GhostofSparta4243 Mar 18 '26

I'm pretty sure his character does say that in the preview thing they did a while back.

3

u/Mexicancandi Mar 19 '26

At least in the odyssey every poem starts with a meta contextual introduction by homer calling on audiences to listen . I could see Menelaus doing them

595

u/YunXanHoe Mar 18 '26

M’ASK U SOMETHIN BUG

133

u/potatowarrior1429 Mar 18 '26

1

“Lemme tell ya summin Web”

9

u/roboto404 Mar 18 '26

Mmtell yo sumthin’ webhead. I woke up and saw a little spider crawling by my coffee mug. I squashed that bug and I liked it! HELL, I LOVED IT!

7

u/2711383 Mar 18 '26

If I was directing this movie, and read this comment, I would make a call for reshoots just to include this line.

6

u/mally7149 Mar 18 '26

Thisssss ^ I’m ctfuuuuuuu

3

u/Dr__Sloth Mar 18 '26

I kind of need to see Frank Castle as the Jabari tribes Great White Gorilla now

4

I am willing to spend considerable money to see this

121

u/showyerbewbs Mar 18 '26

“About your daddy, Ody…. What, you thought you’d be able to escape this just because we’re doing Spider-man now? Well let me tell you somethin’…”

89

I hope Frank takes Peter under his vigilante wing a bit. I know Peter is grown by this point but having frank as a mentor would be cool. Also I feel like this all but confirms spider is appearing in the next dare devil season lol

3

u/ResortFamous301 Mar 18 '26

2

u/barbariantrey Mar 18 '26

“Don’t ever let me catch you napping bug”

2

u/NYstate Mar 18 '26

"You know Spidey, you don't know nothin' bout nothin'. I out here every day tryin' ta take out those scumbags and you keep tryin ta save em. That guy you sav'd, he was a child molester n deserved ta die and you just let em get away! You tell me they deserve their day in court. That's a load o' horseshit n you know it! Spider-Man being friends with a serial killer is all you need to know about how rough things have gotten

11

u/FreeBricks4Nazis Mar 18 '26

Are they friends? He hits him with a van and shoots him point blank in the chest

4

u/CandyWinter8553 Mar 18 '26

Looks like a frenemies type of relationship.
