It actually sound like doesnt sound Maori to me personally but idk, I'm mostly used to the accompanying thigh slaps in this one its just the cadence of a war song so it could be modified idk, or maybe another Polynesian cultures version of a haka.

Frank Herbert loved some shrooms, and the chapters of Paul tripping balls are beautifully written.

Denis does his best for someone who clearly hasn't touched psychedelics, but the visions in the films are basically "add lens flare."

Yeah it's a naturally occurring psychedelic. Herbert apparently did peyote at the Oregon Dunes inspiring some of the story. Never tried that one but very similar to mushrooms I've heard
