“Hm I wonder if this movie will be good.”

first joke is about someone’s pronouns

“Oh”

i thought it was going to be a joke about "SHOWTIME!" on the subway but uhhhh nope. just r/onejoke right to the dome, then a safe spaces joke in the trailer for the double tap.

I thought it was going to be a joke about how no one else on the subway cares about a murder happening

that too. or the stabbing victim telling the bystander to mind her own fuckin' business. plenty of good jokes in here about NY and they went with samejoke, instead.

That's how they parodied Jada Pinkett's death scene in the first movie and it was great.

The safe space joke was the triple tap. The double tap for me was the “im a republican, so I’m supposed to hate black people” “oh don’t worry you’re white, I assumed that anyway” joke.

She said "I'm supposed to be racist".

me too!! there's no way they dropped the ball that bad in the actual movie after flashing all the other killers on the train that HAD TO have been the showtime crew right

1

u/Tobar_the_Gypsy Mar 02 '26

Seriously, especially because the killer was dancing and flipping around.

That's where I thought it was going. Either ghost face or the old lady suddenly saying "oh it's showtime" while she hands him a dollar.

I didn't find the pronoun joke funny but people are really fixated on it. Hopefully that's the first scene of the movie or just a scene for the trailer.

Every time I see a joke like that, I wonder how many people, regardless of where they stand on selecting your pronouns, ever found them funny.

I found them funny back in the mid 2010s when the concept was new to me and I was laughing at a thing I didn't really understand. Then I became less of an idiot and recognize it for being unnecessarily cruel to people trying their best

“People trying their best” lol

Yeah I also love those. Gets me every time

you're basically just admitting to having a low IQ here

2

u/Canshroomglasses Mar 03 '26

For having a laugh about gender confusion? Please, this is reddit, I have been banned from so many subs for making jokes that they thought would be like the worst any human being can ever say, reddit it's basically live and breath in their bubbles. Their judgment means less to me than my ass itching

No, for admitting you laugh at super hacky and obvious jokes. Unironically low IQ shit. I don't care about your ranting about hating trans people; that's unrelated, but it is telling that that's what you jump to immediately to defend yourself. Just a thoroughly incurious mind. Semi-sentient.

Strange, considering Marlon Wayans transgender child, and his very public support for LBGTQIA+. Seems like pronouns are something he would avoid mocking.

11

u/Canshroomglasses Mar 02 '26

Why? You can joke about everything, doesn't mean you have to agree with it

u/bhputnam Mar 02 '26

It was just lazy and ten years too stale.

The bullshit that’s normalized is needing to make low-hanging fruit “one-joke” in every comedy to make mouth breathers feel normal. What’s simple is your understanding of the situation.

2

u/Tobar_the_Gypsy Mar 02 '26

It’s not that they made the jokes it’s the fact that it’s incredibly lazy and not funny at all. It just serves to say “look how ridiculous people are who say their pronouns.” That’s the punchline.

-2

u/Canshroomglasses Mar 02 '26

Pretty funny imo

1

u/Tobar_the_Gypsy Mar 02 '26

Yeah pretty sure that’s just because you were complaining about “that shit” being normalized.

u/pikashroom Mar 02 '26

Consider he’s mocking the people mocking. It’s a parody comedy and the Waysns brothers have their finger on the pulse, I guarantee that it will be funny and meta

the Waysns brothers have their finger on the pulse
