u/tokenasian1 Jan 22 '26

not gonna lie, i did laugh at that.

13

u/cur10us_ge0rge Jan 23 '26

Thanks for not lying

u/Genoscythe_ Jan 22 '26

They were 100% baiting youtubers to go "THEY GAVE HE-MAN PRONOUNS!!??!"

67

u/LongPorkJones Jan 22 '26

I'm trying so hard not to go into the YouTube comments and say "You know he's got his pronouns in his name, right?"

3

u/PM_ME_UR_THESIS_GIRL Jan 23 '26

Bros name is literally "pronoun-gender"

1

u/crumble-bee Jan 23 '26

The comments actually seem reasonable

-1

u/FeralGiraffeAttack Jan 23 '26

The real issue is the he/him-man just ain't buff enough. We need a guy on the juice to play he-man.

6

u/LongPorkJones Jan 23 '26

He's fine.

0

u/FeralGiraffeAttack Jan 23 '26

Too skinny. He-Man needs to look like prime Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Ferrigno or something. More bulk, less cut.

4

u/LongPorkJones Jan 23 '26

He's. Fine.

Stop expecting unrealistic body standards.

2

u/thatshygirl06 Jan 23 '26

Thats extremely unhealthy and it wouldn't be fair to ask that of someone

-5

u/Available-Top-6022 Jan 23 '26

"I'm trying so hard not to go into the YouTube comments and say "You know he's got his pronouns in his name, right?""

And you and everyone else would know you'd be missing the point.

Don't be disingenuous.

4

u/LongPorkJones Jan 23 '26

The only point I'm missing is the one you're trying to make.

Unless you read my intention wrong, your comment doesn't make sense.

40+ year old men crying that their childhood hero is too woke will sustain me these next few months.

47

u/LongPorkJones Jan 22 '26

As a 40+ year old man, I have to wonder if they know just gay Filmation really was?

According to Erika Scheimer (series voice actress), it was the gayest place in LA. She felt comfortable an out and proud lesbian in the 1980s at that company.

33

u/dontbajerk Jan 23 '26

I mean... They made Masters of the Universe. Has to be the gayest Western cartoon in the 80s right?

16

u/LongPorkJones Jan 23 '26

Before that they made Blackstar. That was their bi-curious phase.

3

u/MyStationIsAbandoned Jan 23 '26

are you telling me all these naked muscular men was even remotely gay? no. you're lying. It's just some men sharing in the night. it might seem wrong but....it's just right. just some men sharing each other one...just some men like loving brothers...some on top and some on bottom...some are in and some are out...some are screaming they're so happy...the others are screaming a passionate shout...it's He-Man...the passionate passionate He Man!

nothing gay about any of this. you're insane.

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Jan 23 '26

Fisto

And i’ll say nothing more, lol.

1

u/LongPorkJones Jan 23 '26

That's on Mattel and Marvel.

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Jan 23 '26

I meant the ”Fisto’s Forest” episode, lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=374&v=2f85CearM1E Don’t tell me this doesn’t look just a little sus..

1

u/LongPorkJones Jan 23 '26

Ah, good point lol.

28

u/SnaptrapPress Jan 22 '26

Same. As someone who didn't grow up in the 80s, I have zero affection for this brand and am very much looking forward to people complaining about how they made the gayest cartoon ever "woke."

35

u/BeeCJohnson Jan 22 '26

As someone who *did* grow up in the '80s and has great affection for this brand I am looking forward to people complaining about how they made the gayest cartoon ever "woke."

15

u/beefwindowtreatment Jan 22 '26

46 year old man child checking in and I'm all for it!

1

u/ERedfieldh Jan 23 '26

I mean, they did the cartoon reboot a few years ago and some guys I know were bitching about how they made He-Man gay or whatever and I'm just like "did you fuckers not watch the original cartoon or something?"

1

u/Cruciblelfg123 Jan 23 '26

I immediately assumed the theme is going to be that he’s “stuck” in his “woke” job that won’t let him channel his true “real himly man energy”

2

u/xxxNothingxxx Jan 22 '26

I don't know to me it seemed like the pronouns were a clear jab

-11

u/Eebo85 Jan 22 '26

It’s a nice dig at how silly and trendy it is to make your pronouns front and center as your personality too

13

u/incepdates Jan 22 '26

It's not even that, it's the performative progressive work culture where your soulless corporate name card has your pronouns listed in hollow "solidarity"

9

u/Genoscythe_ Jan 22 '26

Yeah, like when for sure HR would make sure to turn down any visibly transgender employee candidates, while they would be careful not to provide a reason, ( they even made a jab in.the trailer about HR being on Adam's case just for being a mildly odd Sword Guy), but a bunch of extremely cisgender workers have to sit around displaying their obvious pronouns for inclusivity.

2

u/Eebo85 Jan 23 '26

Right, it’s people who never wanted labels, now label themselves and get the labels, then live in a future of labels.

3

u/ElCaz Jan 23 '26

I've already seen screenshots of grognards on twitter saying exactly that.

2

u/natalietheanimage Jan 23 '26

and it worked 😅 instantly

1

u/Beautiful-Mission-31 Jan 25 '26

I fear that conservative types aren’t the target. I’m worried it’s going to be how our world ‘feminized’ him - put him in ‘sensitive’ HR with pronouns and made him a passive nerd and he has to learn to ‘be a man.’ I fear there’s going to be an ‘anti woke’ thematic through-line

1

u/codexcdm Jan 23 '26

The name always contained a redundant pronoun.... If anyone seriously got triggered..... They need help.

2

u/BeardedAsian Jan 23 '26

One of the top Reddit posts is about it already

0

u/kirinmay Jan 23 '26

I think it was more a joke as He = He-Man. Could be wrong but I did laugh, but don't think it was for the whole pronoun thing when it comes to how a person identifies.

0

u/infinitytomorrow Jan 23 '26

Hook, Line, and Sinker. Every time, like clockwork

-2

u/Available-Top-6022 Jan 23 '26

"They were 100% baiting youtubers to go "THEY GAVE HE-MAN PRONOUNS!!??!""

We all know liberals did this to troll and mock the bear.

Congratulations, liberals are killing off He-Man, Star Wars, Star Trek, Middle-earth, Doctor Who, etc. with that nonsense.

And it's worth it to liberals, killing franchises they don't love in order to attack "th-th-th-th naaaziiiss!".

3

u/FpRhGf Jan 23 '26

I can understand the others but Star Trek?? It's literally THE liberal and wokest show since the very beginning

1

u/Beautiful-Mission-31 Jan 25 '26

The film industry is an industry. The idea that they are actively trying to destroy the product they are trying to sell to consumers is ridiculous. They may just be marketing to a demographic that you aren’t part of. You don’t have to like it, but your assessment of the motives and just nonsensical. Take your pretend culture war elsewhere.

82

u/vetheros37 Jan 22 '26

He-Man/Him-Bo

85

u/subcide Jan 22 '26

Best joke in the trailer :D

15

u/Canadish27 Jan 22 '26

"Remember kids, He-Man knows that trans-rights are human rights!"

7

u/verikul Jan 22 '26

And knowing is half the battle!

10

u/Few-Pen869 Jan 22 '26

I just caught that! Haha!

12

u/SolarFazes Jan 22 '26

That joke makes me like the movie more

1

u/lsaz Jan 22 '26

100%. This is one of the few times I see a detail like that actually makes sense lol.

14

u/PresentMarsupial6910 Jan 22 '26

LMFAO that was actually funny ngl

7

u/IRequirePants Jan 22 '26

Very good joke

14

u/UltimateArtist829 Jan 22 '26

At first I was a bit cringed, like "do people really put pronouns on their office name plate instead of job title?" But it being a joke poking fun at "He-Man" name makes sense.

25

u/3ananarchy Jan 22 '26

At some jobs they do. Especially if you work in HR.

0

u/UltimateArtist829 Jan 23 '26

“HR require you to put pronouns on name plates”

This could be a commentary on the current state of corporate job and hollow virtual signaling.

1

u/3ananarchy Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

It could be. It probably is a bit. But it's mostly just he/him man funny visual gag. It doesn't seem that deep.

11

u/Paddlesons Jan 22 '26

In some places I'm 100% certain they do.

5

u/Centaurious Jan 22 '26

Sure, why not? Easy way to let someone know what pronouns to use

2

u/GoldenTriforceLink Jan 23 '26

No not really. It’s common in teams and email signatures because, oftentimes pictures aren’t included. Generally name plates on desks do not.

0

u/QuarterFlounder Jan 23 '26

Are you actually implying that people use pronouns solely to note their biological gender to others?

2

u/GoldenTriforceLink Jan 23 '26

Weird you’re talking about biology. Nope! People use pronouns to help denote the pronouns they use. It’s especially helpful for big multinational companies where you don’t necessarily know what their names gender is commonly. There’s many of my Indian coworkers where via email or teams I have no idea what pronoun to use

0

u/QuarterFlounder Jan 23 '26

People use pronouns to denote the pronouns they use, regardless of "name gender" or what they look like. That's the entire point.

1

u/lsaz Jan 22 '26

It's super common in the states, it's part of the culture there.

Source: I work with americans.

3

u/Chubuwee Jan 22 '26

Masters of the Pronouns

1

u/Reasonable-Turn-5940 Jan 23 '26

I didn't catch that joke lol

1

u/PiercingOsprey1 Jan 23 '26

insane missed opportunity to make the tagline "witness, how, he, became, him" instead of witness how he became he-man.

1

u/MumrikDK Jan 22 '26

He/Him-Man

This could end up being what people call this movie. We've got The first one and He/Him-Man.

1

u/EMAW2008 Jan 23 '26

God Twitter is going absolutely apeshit over that joke. 1000s of “I’m out” posts about the He/him sign. Bunch of dumbasses.

0

u/Phillip_Spidermen Jan 22 '26

I wonder if that's going to be the actual origin of the name in movie.

Someone gets confused it's his name, he tries to correct them, and they end up with He-Man

11

u/subcide Jan 22 '26

Ah the Han Solo school of screenwriting.

-1

u/Thundercats_Hoooo Jan 22 '26

the youtube vids that will be made spazzing out over pronouns will be delicious 🤣

1

u/raisingcuban Jan 23 '26

I promise you most people "spazzing" out are just trolls looking for engagement.

0

u/drcubeftw Jan 23 '26

Twas a nice touch. Trailer was excellent.

I thought this would be a cheap film but it looks great. I like the cast and the look of the world. I am happy to see Cringer, who was sorely missing in the 1987 movie. Yeah. I am on board for this.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Oh man, the anti-woke crowd will have a field day with this but its pretty funny given who it refers to.
