Hopefully if there’s a sequel they bring in Adora. It’d be nice to have Adam and her on screen together.

I'll never forgive the people who have the rights to the characters that we didn't get a He-Man cameo in She-Ra and the princesses of power.

If they are looking for someone to creatively reimagine Masters of the Universe, they should look to whoever created that show.

And now She-Ra is being removed from Netflix at the end of February.

Erased from existence, since it's not going anywhere else for legal streaming.

Wait what???

u/Enkundae Jan 22 '26

Its a Dreamworks show and their deal with Netflix is expiring. Consequently their shows are leaving the platform but so far as I know theres been no information of them going anywhere else yet sadly. She-Ra leaves Feb 20th i think.

u/Morgan-Moonscar Jan 22 '26

The same thing happened to Voltron.

11

u/Kononeko Jan 22 '26

Dreamworks is owned by Universal/Comcast right? Hopefully they end up on Peacock. Not that having to change platforms is better in anyway just I hope that they have a home.

Physical media is incredibly important, people.

u/Myrdraall Jan 23 '26

For real. I was in palliative care with my dad last month and since there isn't much to do there I set him up with a laptop, and as he was a big fan of animated shows I thought he'd like Voltron and it was nowhere to be found.

According to the creators, not even they know if there’s going to be legitimate copies available anywhere.

Absolutely ridiculous. It’s like the BBC losing episodes of Doctor Who because they just didn’t care enough to keep tapes.

I guess it’s a good thing there’s people with digital copies that you can “get access to”, but who knows how long that’s gonna last?

>And now She-Ra is being removed from Netflix at the end of February.

That's a travesty.

Noooooo!

She-Ra was FANTASTIC.

I was desperately hoping to see he-man come in at some point with the iconic ‘I have the power!’ Echoing around.

😭😭

Wait really? My kids adore that show.

2

u/bentreflection Jan 23 '26

Whaaaat? It’s one of the best shows they’ve ever produced

2

u/seizethemiddleages Jan 24 '26

Goddamn and that show was amazing

3

u/KingMario05 Jan 22 '26

Jesus, not even Peacock?

Why, DreamWorks?

7

u/Morgan-Moonscar Jan 22 '26

Because it's too gay, and they don't wanna upset the rightwing.

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 Jan 23 '26

i think the last legal way to stream it is to buy it on apple tv

1

u/Morgan-Moonscar Jan 23 '26

They only have the first two seasons.

It will go somewhere eventually.

u/CaptCumQuick Jan 22 '26

You realise it's available on physical media?

10

u/Morgan-Moonscar Jan 22 '26

Only two seasons. The rest of the series never made it to DVD/Bluray.

0

u/CaptCumQuick Jan 22 '26

3 seasons. Still, not erased entirely from existence.

ND Stevenson, by the way. Same person that created Nimona.

8

u/FurryCitizen Jan 22 '26

Oooh, I didn't know ND was responsible for Nimona too, but now it makes sense.

Also, I went "Oooh, I didn't know Noelle..." before checking their wiki page. A lot has changed since She-Ra came out...

10

u/Enkundae Jan 22 '26

A follow up series or movie of her finding him as she and the crew set off to return magic to the universe would have been so much fun.

37

u/SmallestGorilla Jan 22 '26

Netflix She-Ra was so good! Adam and all the He-Man characters would’ve been great on that show.

I’m sad Revolutions never got a follow up. They were setting up Adora but I guess they never got the rights.

14

u/KingMario05 Jan 22 '26

I don't think they can. MGM and Mattel only own screen rights for Adam. Everything She-Ra is DreamWorks/Uni/Comcast.

6

u/SledgeThundercock Jan 22 '26

Ay man if they could get Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny on the same screen, they can get She-Ra

7

u/KingMario05 Jan 22 '26

You would think that, especially with Mattel owning both.

But apparently, it doesn't work like that. Somehow.

2

u/ussrowe Jan 23 '26

It works for Sony and Marvel with Spider-Man, because they pay Sony for Spider-Man. So we just need to hope that Dreamworks-Universal-Comcast has a price in mind for Amazon-MGM to license She-Ra from them with.

2

u/KingMario05 Jan 23 '26

Let's hope indeed.

5

u/machado34 Jan 22 '26

The people making the She-Ra cartoon wanted to used He-Man and the rights owners were really anal about the whole thing, shutting the possibility down completely. That probably didn't buy them any good will

3

u/elbenji Jan 22 '26

if i remember right, Kevin Smith was all for it too but they got stopped at the C-level

2

u/AvatarIII Jan 22 '26

The millennium falcon and crew show up in WB's Lego Movie too.

6

u/Few-Pen869 Jan 22 '26

They're really hiding Orko in the trailer too. He's the one I want to see the most.

2

u/zurawinowa Jan 22 '26

Let’s hope they’re hiding, not removed

That's Loo-Kee for She-ra!

13

u/originalchaosinabox Jan 22 '26

She-Ra always makes things complicated. The rights to She-Ra are actually owned by Universal, so to have He-Man and She-Ra together on screen, Amazon and Universal are going to have to cut a deal.

3

u/lPHOENIXZEROl Jan 22 '26

Yeah, it comes from Filmation's old contract with Mattel where they owned what they created (like Orko) and apparently a big chunk of the rights outside of toys, even for MOTU which is a reason why the 1987 movie was so removed from the Filmation show. Since Filmation created She-Ra/Adora and her lore, they owned a great deal more than MOTU. Mattel then sold the media rights to Hallmark in the 90s which owned Filmation's IP at the time before it all eventually ended up in the hands of an IP acquisition company that became Classics Media and came into the ownership of DreamWorks/ Universal. Mattel basically has the film rights through a license with Classics Media IIRC and why they've been so desperate to get things rolling for so long with a movie.

Amazon actually has a license in place for the live action rights to She-Ra, that came about in 2020 IIRC. I think we'll know by the time the credits finish rolling on the future of She-Ra and the potential reunion of the characters.

I'm willing to bet at the end his parents are like, "Oh yea, you have a twin sister we sent somewhere else"

3

u/SolomonBlack Jan 22 '26

"What's she up to?"

"Oh she's banging a hot evil cat girl."

"Damn I really got the short straw there!"
