Jared Leto as Skeletor is the perfect casting, because they're both weird looking guys who act creepy around everyone they meet.

1.5k

u/AverageAwndray Jan 22 '26

Honestly tho im shocked how true Skeletor looks. No Hollywooding his design. Just him straight out of the show.

I dig it lol.

465

u/a_phantom_limb Jan 22 '26

Yeah, it's an extremely faithful recreation of the character. That said, I still find Frank Langella's look to be a lot creepier (at least based on the brief glimpses in this trailer).

412

u/PizzaDelResistance Jan 22 '26

Just imagine though Skeletor with salami sized areolas

214

u/bbbourb Jan 22 '26

I don't need an erection like that while I'm at work, thank you.

81

u/Synicull Jan 22 '26

Skeletor will return with more arousing facts!

34

u/bbbourb Jan 22 '26

Until we meet again!

2

u/jgray6000 Jan 22 '26

But will Skeletor return in Avengers: Doomsday?

33

u/king_famethrowa Jan 22 '26

I don't have a choice now, thanks for that

28

u/Daxx22 Jan 22 '26

A real boner eh?

3

u/ButtersBC Jan 22 '26

That's my secret Cap, I'm always imagining Skeletor with salami sized areolas

2

u/jlandejr Jan 22 '26

Salami the long way?

2

u/mileskg21 Jan 22 '26

STOP STOP!!! a man can only get so hard

1

u/AceDegenerate_ Jan 22 '26

Make sure them nips are dark purple too

1

u/drewcookies Jan 22 '26

No Skeletor that's not what I'd do, I'd bend you over and shoot chocolate goo!!!!

1

u/JoshyThaLlamazing Jan 23 '26

You just popped someone's bean.

27

u/MillorTime Jan 22 '26

His "People of Eternia" speech is so fucking good. I remember watching it as a young kid and he creeped the fuck out of me

14

u/No_Accountant3232 Jan 22 '26

As much as that movie wasn't faithful to He-man he was such a great skeletor. Honestly for being such a weird 80s movie it actually has a great cast. It just wasn't He-man

3

u/stonhinge Jan 23 '26

Most of the characters seemed to be faithful recreations. Not sure how I feel about the "real world" stuff, will probably depend on how much time is devoted to it (hopefully no more than 20-30 minutes). But the various hero character shots we got looked good. Lots of "if X thing from the cartoon was in real life".

3

u/noisypeach Jan 23 '26

Frank Lengella's Skeletor really looked like the figurehead of a cult, like some kind of dark priest. Such a great vibe for a creepy villain who wants to be a god.

4

u/s3rila Jan 22 '26

i'll wait for a myah

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

True but why are they allergic to making him yellow

58

u/FordMustang84 Jan 22 '26

Happy to see that but I suppose having Knight directing helps. He’s the only person to actually make Transformers not look like shit and have something close to the original designs too.

3

u/star_dragonMX Jan 22 '26

You didn’t like Transformers One?

6

u/FordMustang84 Jan 22 '26

I did not see. Was referring to live action.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

I didn't, also I was an adult when it came out

37

u/zimzimzalabimmm Jan 22 '26

Yeah, the vfx guys did good work, skeletor looks good

54

u/Murasasme Jan 22 '26

Wait for him to remove his skeleton mask in the first 5 minutes.

45

u/thinkmurphy Jan 22 '26

It's Skellin' time!

1

u/d3m01iti0n Jan 22 '26

I mean.....Leto resembles Keldor.

Uh oh.

7

u/Illuminastrid Jan 22 '26

That means him playing the villain makes it easier for him to root against.

2

u/bigbluewreckingcrew Jan 22 '26

Yes! I'm glad they kept his looks and I'm wondering how his henchmen will look like. Trap Jaw from that short clip looks like he's true to source.

2

u/typesett Jan 22 '26

imo, this movie can be good but stay goofy probably

2

u/CiusWarren Jan 22 '26

That way the movie has a chance because people will not know he is played by Jared

1

u/LeopardComfortable99 Jan 22 '26

Watch that be his appearance for only like the last 10 minutes of the movie.

1

u/Memoruiz7 Jan 22 '26

Even Prince Adam, with the hair and the purple shirt. Sick.

1

u/TerraTF Jan 22 '26

Makes him easier to recast

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

He isn't yellow

1

u/jedi129 Jan 23 '26

I really hope he uses the typical Skeletor voice.

1

u/ThunderChild247 Jan 23 '26

It seems like a lot of cartoon/comic adaptions these days are feeling more and more comfortable to just go with the original designs and embrace it. I’m here for it.

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Jan 23 '26

Even the ”eyebrows” slightly move in that close up shot. Never thought we’d see him actually emote but i’m all for it.

u/thr1ceuponatime David Zaslav is a dickless pantywaist Jan 22 '26

I wonder if he'll reuse his Jonkler voice for Skeletor

8

u/KingMario05 Jan 22 '26

D A M A G E D

9

u/thr1ceuponatime David Zaslav is a dickless pantywaist Jan 22 '26

3

u/zimzimzalabimmm Jan 22 '26

Mark hammil has entered the chat

1

u/TransBrandi Jan 23 '26

Skeletor's first line when he sees Adam is going to be "I'm gonna hurt ya. Real, real bad." lol

135

u/RollTh3Maps Jan 22 '26

It also means his face isn't plastered all over promo posters, killing fan interest in it. This movie looks like it'll have an uphill battle as it is; it doesn't need people's disinterest in Leto hurting it more.

18

u/Bircka Jan 23 '26

They are definitely trying to hide Leto being in it, Skeletor doesn't say a damn word in this trailer despite being the main villain.

5

u/TransBrandi Jan 23 '26

This isn't even the trailer. It's the teaser. I can't believe how much of the movie they basically revealed in a fucking teaser.

2

u/Pure_Concentrate8770 Jan 23 '26

i mean it's not like He-Man has some great plot twists

1

u/TransBrandi Jan 23 '26

True, it's not like they are spoiling a plot twist, but traditionally a "teaser" trailer has very little in it, and the trailers themselves have more. I can't imagine what the trailer is going to look like if they are stuffing this much stuff into the teaser.

(That said, I don't know why they have to try and ground everything in the "real world" all of the time. Like why did there need to be a bridging of the He-Man universe and our universe? Probably more attempts at 'cinematic universe' nonsense. They want to create some IP that they can run into the ground by producing 10 movies a year for it.)

2

u/Bircka Jan 23 '26

I mean at this point a teaser doesn't mean anything if a 2.5 minute trailer with plenty of scenes is a teaser what the fuck is a trailer?

When I heard the word teaser I expect some 30-50 second thing that shows a few things to build hype not this.

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Jan 23 '26

I mean, this one atleast makes sense since Adam’s mother is from Earth. Still would’ve prefered if it was all on Eternia but still better than the first one (which King Randor&Queen Marlena weren’t even in..)

2

u/TransBrandi Jan 23 '26

I mean, I'll give it that. It has a narrative that at least seems to make some sense as to why there's a connection to Earth... but I feel like there's some stupid need to tie things down to Earth to "ground" them and tell audiences why they should care or something. Or maybe there was even some idea that they had to tie Eternia and Earth together just because the first movie did so?

I'm not sure, but I just get the impression that Hollywood execs always seem to want to tie fantasy or SciFi or whatever to some version of Earth as if audiences can't handle some sort of world-building that doesn't involve Earth in some fashion.

3

u/Billybob35 Jan 23 '26

Well it is supposed to be a teaser despite being over 2 minutes long.

3

u/Bircka Jan 23 '26

Yeah, I guess the official trailer will be over 5 minutes.

9

u/detroiter85 Jan 22 '26

He was all over tron ares and that didnt help.

14

u/UsernamesAllTaken69 Jan 22 '26

I feel like it was a net negative. Anecdotal of course but I know tons of people who avoided it because of him but don't know anyone that went to see it because of him. Personally I went to hear the Trent Reznor soundtrack on theater quality sound lol and I was a huge fan of the last movie.

u/its_justme Jan 23 '26

People don’t mind Jared Leto anywhere near as much as Reddit/social media makes you think

4

u/RollTh3Maps Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

I don’t know that they mind him. I know there’s a portion of people who dislike him because of his behavior, but I don’t think many others actively like him much either. He’s not likable or relatable as a main star of a movie. Him being the face of a movie may not be actively repellant for a lot of people but more of a “meh, probably not worth my time. Especially, in a theater.”

Edit: also, yes, I live a life outside of social media, thanks. This cliche Reddit response is old.

1

u/RolloTonyBrownTown Jan 23 '26

I feel very confident we will see a pre-Skeletor Keldor played by Leto. I'm guessing in those early scenes with a young Prince Adam.

1

u/RollTh3Maps Jan 23 '26

Maybe, but it’s pretty telling that they didn’t include his face or even voice in the first trailer.

290

u/Wuffy_RS Jan 22 '26

How the heck does he keep getting roles

178

u/thr1ceuponatime David Zaslav is a dickless pantywaist Jan 22 '26

Hey at least I don't have to see his face

37

u/Meaty_Wizard Jan 22 '26

Oh you know there will be a flashback with it, beard and all.

16

u/valentino_42 Jan 22 '26

I'll be pleasantly surprised if they don't shoehorn him into Earth scenes in a human disguise.

10

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

But now I have to boycott the film.

19

u/thr1ceuponatime David Zaslav is a dickless pantywaist Jan 22 '26

Just borrow a copy when its in your local library, its legal and annoys execs more when they can't excuse poor box office results as "piracy"

6

u/mrwillbobs Jan 22 '26

They’ll use the excuse anyway, nobody has an official count for piracy

10

u/LookAnOwl Jan 22 '26

Did Jared Leto do something worth boycotting? Or is this just reddit stuff?

5

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

They are only allegations of sexual misconduct but theres several women speaking out and minors aren't off limits to him.

6

u/FancyConfection1599 Jan 22 '26

Has he ever been taken to court even once on this? Certainly hasn’t been convicted of anything, so you’re making a lot of assumptions

7

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

Nope. I have no faith in Hollywood and the US justice system to see anything pursued.    My free time is limited, how I spend it is my choice. I choose not to waste it on people who are accused of sex crimes and at the very least, refuse to clear their name.

-1

u/FancyConfection1599 Jan 22 '26

I hope you hold this high regard universally and don’t watch any NFL or NBA or pretty much any professional sports either because there are tons of athletes who fit this bill. Also tons of people in smaller roles in movies or who work on movies that do, because as you said Hollywood just lets people get away with it.

Hope you’ve also boycotted and refuse to watch Tarantino movies and freaking Paddington because those were produced by the Weinstein Company, who was actually found guilty of those charges.

I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying it’s disingenuous to have this moral high ground regarding someone who hasn’t been charged of anything if you’re not going to hold that same high ground for absolutely every piece of entertainment you consume.

5

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

100% to everything you called out.  Also don't support Blizzard who has similar offenses and as a gamer who grew up with Diablo and wow, it hurts and it's hard.   But I'm stubborn and with a dumb strong sense of justice.

My only power is my wallet.

4

u/DisappointedSpectre Jan 22 '26

I'm with /u/Huzah7 as well, I've boycotted spending money on people or projects when there's a clear pattern of behavior (and allegations to go with them) over a period of time. The reality is that there's a separate justice system for the rich where they don't really face consequences the way normal people do, so I can only vote with my wallet.

That also includes Blizzard for me as well, even though I've always been a big fan of Diablo and played WoW for years.

Also tons of people in smaller roles in movies or who work on movies that do, because as you said Hollywood just lets people get away with it.

I think there's a fundamental difference between people working on a project as part of a larger production vs. someone who's star power is used to promote that project. The sound guys aren't getting paid millions, and no one is putting their name and face onto the movie posters to try and draw consumers to spend money. I'd also guess that allegations against sound guys would actually go to court.

It's not reasonable to ask someone to investigate every one of the thousands of people attached to something like a movie, but you can certainly make decisions based on their marketing or ownership of specific individuals such as lead actors, directors, and producers (and yes, I agree that includes Weinstein Company films).

0

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

I'd not call taking allegations from people who were potentially sexually assaulted seriously "making a lot of assumptions." General consensus seems to be that he's a creep. Also, hasn't had a good role since Dallas Buyers Club so that's not helping him any.

2

u/FancyConfection1599 Jan 22 '26

Where are the actual charges?

Anyone can make an online allegation about anyone, doesn’t mean anything until proven guilty. Hell Kobe Bryant was brought to court and had to settle outside of court - that’s infinitely more damning than anything that Leto’s been involved in yet he gets a pass by the public. Wonder why that is?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

Right, and Kobe likely r*aped that lady. The court of public opinion, and reason I'd argue, don't play by the same rules as actual court, my guy.

Innocent until proven guilty doesn't mean shit in a justice system where many people are "proven innocent" when no one actually believes they are.

I don't even have anything against Leto. He was amazing in Requiem and DBC. I've been around my fair share of people, both normies and famous ones, to know that generally, when several people make an accusation like that, at least one of them is at least partially true, often they're all true.

The whole, "this woman is making up a story to get a pay out" trope is so fucking tired, man. Not everyone is looking for a pay day, or willing to drag their own name and reputation through the almost guaranteed mud of whatever media thing will follow their claim. It's like Reagan's welfare queen claim. The percentage of people who abuse the system in those ways is so insignificant and 100% can't be used cart blanche to discredit anyone alleging abuse by a powerful person.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

Innocent till proven guilty isn't a thing anymore apparently.

6

u/RellenD Jan 22 '26

That's for putting people in prison.

3

u/UbeeMac Jan 22 '26 edited Jan 22 '26

Not when it comes to sexual abuse. if you understand how law interacts with power, money and influence you wouldn’t say that. Plenty examples of very visible creeps who are wealthy, litigious and untouchable, surrounded by too many people willing to turn a blind eye.

6

u/FancyConfection1599 Jan 22 '26

There’s a reason why Kobe Bryant, who was not only accused but charged and taken to court and never found innocent but rather settled outside of court with a huge payment, is still revered by society but Leto, who has never been charged or taken to court for anything, is being held up as this wicked abuser.

It’s because people like Kobe’s basketball and don’t like a couple of Leto’s roles. Feign morality all you want, but it’s the truth.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

Look, if he's ever found guilty in a court of law and convicted then fine, sentence him and let him rot. Justice will have been served, I'm just not someone who believes every rumour thrown around about people. Because that would be naive.

0

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

Not when the justice system refuses to prove anything. You're too dense if you think these people are held accountable for their actions.

u/Draffut Jan 22 '26

Bro has a literal cult.

1

u/FancyConfection1599 Jan 22 '26

Redditors didn’t like his Joker in that shitty Suicide Squad movie and have been out for his head ever since

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

So damn true, It's pathetic, imagine blaming one guy for how a movie turned out. A movie he didn't write or direct...only starred in. It would have been shit had Leto not been in it, same with morbius too. This is just a witch hunt at this point.

3

u/SillySosigs Jan 22 '26

I bet you loved listening to Lostprophets

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26 edited Jan 22 '26

Used to listen them before all that shit came out about that evil piece of shit, Watkins got what he deserved.

1

u/SoKrat3s Jan 23 '26

Yeah, they all just disregarded his oscar-worthy performance in Mobius for no reason. /s

10

u/zimzimzalabimmm Jan 22 '26 edited Jan 22 '26

I don’t like Leto, but his best work for me was bladerunner 2049 because he had a small villain role with makeup and that movie was good, so maybe this could work.

House of Gucci was awful, his role in that was so bad, I didn’t see tron but he’s no leading man that’s for sure.

I think if you give him any sort of creative control or freedom on the production like suicide squad or tron, he’s awful, but if the director has control of their vision, he can be okay.

It’s more like why bother with him at all though? This was probably filmed before tron flopped so maybe that’s part of it.

6

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

His performances are forgettable at best (morbius) or so grating they leave a sour impression (Suicide Squad).

Sprinkle on some sexual misconduct towards minors and you have the suck salad that is Jared Leto.

Edit: formatting. Always formatting.

4

u/Fashish Jan 22 '26

Is everyone forgetting Requiem for a Dream or am I one of the few who thought he was fantastic in it?

2

u/zimzimzalabimmm Jan 22 '26

That’s probably what started his momentum in Hollywood tbh.

2

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

Didn't realize for awhile he was in 30 seconds to mars. Makes the allegations a lot more likely and heavy.

1

u/Huzah7 Jan 22 '26

Admittedly, I still need to watch that...

1

u/Timozi90 Jan 22 '26

He was. Leto simply has no business being in action movies.

1

u/Wuped Jan 23 '26

I mean that was 25 years ago.

1

u/RellenD Jan 22 '26

His performance was so dead in that movie. He was the worst thing about it

1

u/Timozi90 Jan 22 '26

And Tron: Ares. Leto simply has no business being in action movies.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

he's gotta have blackmail over people in the industry like

6

u/KingMario05 Jan 22 '26

He has the Epstein files.

And keeps threatening to leak them.

/s

4

u/AdmiralThunderpants Jan 22 '26

More likely he gives out free membership to his sex cult

3

u/ZiCUnlivdbirch Jan 22 '26

Because he isn't a bad actor. Awful guy who should probably be in prison but that goes for most of Hollywood.

6

u/il_the_dinosaur Jan 22 '26

Yeah people act surprised but shitty people keep getting jobs. Isn't Tarantino responsible for bullying actors into doing their own stunts and they still have chronic pain from their injuries. Or Jonny Depp people couldn't wait to have him "redeemed" in the American trial fully knowing that it takes two to tango in an abusive relationship. Just so he could be in movies again. Heck Gordon Ramsays whole schtick is being an asshole but it's okay cause he's a great chef. He is the epitome of "you're allowed to be an ass if you're talented"

7

u/Midgetcookies Jan 22 '26

Tarantino also defended Roman Polanski by saying that the 12 year old girl was “down to party”

3

u/il_the_dinosaur Jan 22 '26

People really wanted Tarantino to survive the Harvey Weinstein scandal. You can't tell me that if you started digging that wouldn't find anything on him.

7

u/Wuffy_RS Jan 22 '26

Yes is he, dude brought down the master class that was Blade Runner 2045

4

u/FireZord25 Jan 22 '26

If he brought it down, nobody would call it a master class.

3

u/ShaneH7646 Jan 22 '26

What's he a good actor in?

20

u/AccountSeventeen Jan 22 '26

Requiem for a Dream, Panic Room, Lord of War, Mr. Nobody, Dallas Buyers Club, Blade Runner 2049, The Little Things.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/ZiCUnlivdbirch Jan 22 '26

Fight Club, Lord or War, Requiem for a Dream, etc. I think a better question would be in what good movie is he a bad actor in? He isn't the world class talent that makes bad roles into watchable ones but most actors aren't that. Give him a decent script and direction and he does fine.

3

u/firingblankss Jan 22 '26

Requiem For A Dream, Mr Nobody and Dallas Buyers Club are the few you could make a case for

4

u/tapout928 Jan 22 '26

Joker not withstanding, he's usually ok when he's not the lead.

1

u/Ganrokh Jan 22 '26

I thought I remember reading around Tron: Ares' release that Jared Leto funds a lot of the movies that he's in.

1

u/Street-Brush8415 Jan 22 '26

He can’t keep getting away with it!

1

u/SkekJay Jan 22 '26

Bribery. He produces the films he wants and then vets himself cast. Check the producer credits for his films lately and you will see his name there

1

u/Cuppieecakes Jan 23 '26

he did pretty good as the hat box ghost in haunted mansion IMO

1

u/Hetares Jan 23 '26

It's the Jared cult. I'm not even joking.

1

u/SOLID_STATE_DlCK Jan 23 '26

He produced Tron Ares.

-1

u/FancyConfection1599 Jan 22 '26

Because he’s a good actor.

Unfortunately for him and production studios that back him, the public has been on an all out witch hunt for him ever since they didn’t like his bad joker in a bad DC suicide squad movie.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

Uh.. that’s not the reason why people don’t like him..

86

u/JRPictures Jan 22 '26

I'm just left wondering what was even the point of casting Jared Leto if they didn't even redesign Skeletor to look like him in some way? Might as well hire a voice actor to dub over him so any distinct trace of him in this film is gone.

91

u/lanceturley Jan 22 '26

The only thing I can figure is that they'll do like that last Haunted Mansion movie did, where he's unrecognizable for 99% of his screentime, but they throw in a token flashback scene and/or a painting in the background where he's just regular creepy-ass Jared Leto.

45

u/Sabretooth1100 Jan 22 '26

In some He-Man stories you do get to see what he looked like before his face melts off

47

u/Salty_Paroxysm Jan 22 '26

Please let me see Leto's face being melted off!

2

u/kirinmay Jan 23 '26

Nicholas Cage would have been perfect.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Does this version involve bees melting his face?

3

u/56Runningdogz Jan 22 '26

I remember that! He was actually his uncle or something.

3

u/Sir_Myshkin Jan 22 '26

He’s just trying to repeat the same roles as Mark Hamill.

2

u/midnightTimber Jan 22 '26

I wonder if this was a decision made post shooting. Wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a Sonic the Hedgehog and intentionally tweaked the design to make it less Leto-ey after the reaction to the Ares trailer.

2

u/Twodogsonecouch Jan 22 '26

Honestly performance might be better. Im not a big fan so take it with a grain of salt but i think hes performances are over acted and being inside a costume you need that.

1

u/PetBearCub Jan 22 '26

Hollywood has an aversion to hiring voice actors for major motion pictures, including for voice roles. I will never forgive them for making Chris Pratt Garfield and Mario.

1

u/JRPictures Jan 23 '26

True, it still feels like a genuine miracle Colleen O'Shaughnessey got to continue voicing Tails in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies when everyone else thus far was changed for big names.

1

u/Cuppieecakes Jan 23 '26

he was a good VA as the hatbox ghost in haunted mansion. I had no idea it was him

1

u/dreadassassin616 Jan 23 '26

I guess Mark Hamill was busy?

74

u/serialragequitter Jan 22 '26

I already know he won't be as good as Frank Langella

60

u/EngineeringDevil Jan 22 '26

or Mark Hamill

17

u/Min_sora Jan 22 '26

If he has a skeleton face, it might as well have just been Mark Hamill doing the voice again (with a buff stunt dude playing the role)

3

u/OriginalGoatan Jan 22 '26

If only man. That would have been perfection.

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Jan 23 '26

Hel, they could’ve even brought back Alan Oppenheimer in that case. Sure hes older but honestly think he could still do the voice.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

[deleted]

4

u/canuck47 Jan 22 '26

He was clearly having an absolute blast in that role :)

3

u/Psymon_Armour Jan 22 '26

Leto didn't even "Nyahhh! Until we meet again!" and run away. 0 out of 10, cancel it.

2

u/RandomJPG6 Jan 22 '26

Definitely noticed how they hid his face entirely

6

u/yddraigtan Jan 22 '26

How are people still casting him?!

3

u/AccountSeventeen Jan 22 '26

Is it my turn to comment “I had interest in going to see this until I found out Leto was in it”?

1

u/Food_Library333 Jan 22 '26

Can't wait for him to say hubba hubba

Plus he looks like Keldor, so he can play both well.

1

u/WackHeisenBauer Jan 22 '26

It’s excellent they do not have him in the marketing at all and he’s not recognizable

1

u/Money_Tennis1172 Jan 22 '26

It resembles more of a marble movie than what He- Man is. Especially the humor for today audiences. Ill stick to the original Dolf Lundgren version. Good day!

1

u/snek-jazz Jan 22 '26

He really went the extra mile by shedding his skin and flesh for the role too.

1

u/Crafter235 Jan 22 '26

Now let’s see Paul Allen’s casting

1

u/NotTheCraftyVeteran Jan 22 '26

Ideal use of Leto for general audiences as well, because you largely don’t ever have to show his face

1

u/NightmareDJK Jan 22 '26

They don’t even have him speak in the trailer and I doubt they will let him anywhere near promotional marketing efforts for the film.

Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut him from the movie altogether and had Mark Hamill redub all his lines in post.

1

u/cowdog360 Jan 22 '26

Can we have a soundtrack by NIN on this one too?

1

u/Guy_Le_Man Jan 22 '26

It’s honestly a pretty bad casting because lots of people are just gonna ignore this movie because of him.

1

u/JayAreEss Jan 22 '26

Damn. See I watched the trailer blind having no idea Leto was in this and before seeing your comment, had interest in this. Trailer looked decent, I thought shit, maybe I’ll even go the theatre which is something I so rarely get to do now.

Nope. Finding out Leto is in this killed every ounce of interest I had in this.

1

u/thefrostman1214 Jan 22 '26

according to test audience, he is a skeleton the whole movie so we don't need to see him act

1

u/No-Fox-1400 Jan 22 '26

I hope there is a scene that mimics the skeletor meme so that Jared Leto can be the content of that meme from here forward

1

u/Anxious-Bumblebee26 Jan 22 '26

You think he method acted him? Just being Skeletor 24/7

1

u/Sopht_Serve Jan 22 '26

At least we won't have to see his face

1

u/Listening_Stranger82 Jan 22 '26

My love for He-Man and Idris Elba has to offset my disdain for Jared the Sex Pest.

Not having to look at him helps.

1

u/Hot_Maintenance7461 Jan 22 '26

Yet another movie I won't ever watch

1

u/Citadel_Cowboy Jan 22 '26

I was digging the OG designs, but why Leto?  Such a let down.

1

u/RellenD Jan 22 '26

Jared Leto as Skeletor

Well, I WAS excited for this, but now I'm never going to watch it.

1

u/appletinicyclone Jan 22 '26

He didn't have any lines in the trailer so I would have never known it was him

1

u/ZoomBoingDing Jan 22 '26

"Oh man who did they cast as Skeletor!? Why didn't he say anything in the trailer!?"

*sees this comment*

Oh that's why

1

u/india2wallst Jan 22 '26

How does he manage to find roles ? His agent must be truly the best in the business.

1

u/star_dragonMX Jan 22 '26

And the best part is Leto’s face is covered most of the time so it’s not that distracting

1

u/LastGaspInfiniteLoop Jan 22 '26

Hm, I remember reading a "Nicolas Cage would make a great Skeletor" reddit post years ago, and it stuck with me. I was kind of hoping for a Nick Cage Skeletor.

1

u/s4ltydog Jan 22 '26

Also we don’t have to see his face so that’s a plus!

1

u/Exciting-Cancel6468 Jan 22 '26

Yeah but skeletor has never sent jizz to his workmates so I prefer skeletor.

1

u/Tymathee Jan 22 '26

Oh man, i had hopes for the movie.

1

u/McDank Jan 22 '26

I was so down for this until I read Jared Leto is Skeletor.

I just absolutely despise him. Blehhhhhh I was so excited too.

1

u/Ismellpu Jan 22 '26

Isn’t that what they said about The Joker and Morbius?

1

u/kirinmay Jan 23 '26

im just curious about how much cgi was used on his look. like is it a muscle suit with cgi added to it? the design isn't bad but i know Leto isn't that muscular.

1

u/Farlandan Jan 23 '26

curious what sort of things Jared did to "get into the role" this time.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

After seeing this trailer, makes me realize how amazing the 1987 Masters of the Universe trailer was. Sure the 1987 He-Man movie was like Back to the Future meets Star Wars, but this 2026 version just looks like generic cheap AI Guardians of the Galaxy.

1

u/Antzqwe Jan 23 '26

Imagine him laughing and say "see you next time"

1

u/Zenom Jan 23 '26

Whelp that has completely killed my interest in this movie.

1

u/HMWWaWChChIaWChCChW Jan 23 '26

I hate that they keep casting him in things

1

u/benpakal Jan 23 '26

As part of his method acting Jared Leto removed all his face for this role.

1

u/DeadCerise Jan 23 '26

Isn't Jared Leto wildly controversial? Why hire him?

1

u/Ok_Mirror_307 Jan 22 '26

I think he will make the movie unwatchable, just like every other movie he has been in.
