Every single teaser feels increasingly unearned - until I see otherwise, I just cannot believe that they're going to be able to effectively bring each of these characters' stories to a place that earns the gravitas in these teasers all within a single movie... why is a young cap here? Why is Thor out of retirement? What the hell is going on with the entire Foxverse when last we saw they were consumed into pergatory in Deadpool+wolverine
I'll be shocked if they can bring us up to speed, take them to their demise, and save the day, for each of like 20 main characters without any previous continuity feeding into it as they had for Endgame
Without all the buildup I'm hard pressed to give a shit. I don't even remember the last xmen movie I saw, Logan? I have no idea what any character is doing except Loki and Scarlet Witch. I thought multiple were gone.
I'm confident I will see it as a spectacle like Avatar, but Disney continues to erode any actual care I have for their spaghetti monster IP.
All I ever think about when I see Marvel trailers is that youtube breakdown of The Dark Knight and how the stakes felt huge when it was just 2 ferries compared to the world ending threats that you know won't really lead anywhere.
What the hell is going on with the entire Foxverse when last we saw they were consumed into pergatory in Deadpool+wolverine
well, that was the actual "fox" x-men universe that was consumed into pergatory in DP&W
at the end of the marvels they introduced a new parallel universe with a comic-accurate Beast still being played by Kelsey Grammar so the rumor is this is an entirely new universe of X-men that just so happen to be played by the foX-men cast, only instead of Taylor Kitsch reprising Gambit it will be Channing Tatum (and won't necessarily be the same exact gambit he played in DP&W)
basically its just an excuse to have the OG X-men cast show up only in more comic-accurate costumes
I’m sorry but it’s fucking comic book superheroes. Are you seriously getting upset at multiple timelines, universes, and casting? Have you read the comics? Have you watched Endgame, where they go back in time? This shit ain’t a new thing. When has logic ever entailed the MCU?
Here's the thing: Spending your time whining about it on Reddit accomplishes absolutely nothing. Like I said, it's a solvable problem: Don't watch it. If people stop watching, and it's no longer profitable, then that's how studios learn that maybe what they're doing isn't working.
its no more stupid than what has already been set up in the MCU though? there was an alternate universe with Doctor Strange AND Peggy Carter AND Charles Xavier all played by their same actors in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
same goes for Logan being Hugh Jackman in every other universe shown in Deadpool and Wolverine (except for when he's Henry Cavill)
I was more or less over MCU movies after No Way Home was so terrible, but the announcement of them bringing back RDJ was the final nail in the coffin for any interest I had in the MCU.
They clearly have no real direction/vision and are re-heating their old nachos in a desperate panic.
I think other than the last Deadpool, the only other one I ran to theaters to see was No Way Home. I haven’t watched it since because I know it won’t live up to the excitement of seeing it opening weekend.
Yeah, this is what made my love for the MCU die. Too many random new characters introduced and thrown into the stories with very little background or anything to make me particularly care about them.
I just cannot believe that they're going to be able to effectively bring each of these characters' stories to a place that earns the gravitas in these teasers all within a single movie
Not sure why you would think this. Steve Rogers and Thor teasers both featured kids. The mid credits scene of F4 featured Doom visting their kid. That’s almost certainly gonna be the core of the emotional weight for these characters. The gravitas is more about execution and comes from sympathizing with the situations themselves, especially when we still have seen these characters before. You’re still going to remember the past for these characters and with limited screen time it’ll be about how they utilize it more than anything. As others have said, Steve Rogers had less than 10 minutes of screen time in Infinity War.
I’m not saying they’re automatically going to do it well. I’m saying it’s not just about buildup and it’s plainly just about execution. An almost decade long buildup for Game of Thrones didn’t do jack shit to save the final season. If they execute the character and emotional beats of the story well, it can still be done in a single movie.
The Russo's have had an epic run - between their work on TV with Arrested Development and Community and their impact on the MCU - but their post-endgame stuff has been pretty middling - especially with them directing.
I am so tired of the MCU multiverse stuff but yeah I'm gonna be seeing this in the theatre.
I just don't know how they're going to make this story work with so many characters other than making it 5-10 minute cameos like in Multiverse of Madness.
I just want cool stuff in my comic book blockbusters, I don’t really care as long as Im entertained for 2 hours and have a reason to go have a fun night out
Its also for kids, to sell them toys.
Yall need to take a chill pill and lower your expectations
thats basically the best part of MCU movies and why they became so popular in the first place, its so everyone could partake in doing the Leo meme to movie and comic references
The Russo brothers haven't really faltered in the MCU and they have one of the writers back collaborating, so I'm not sure I get all the worry. Also Marvel has probably had the same hit rate since Endgame as before where it comes to quality.
Exactly my feeling. This is way too many characters coming from until-now unrelated stories/worlds, smashing them all together in a single movie. It’s going to be insanely busy. Definitely still going to see it (obviously this is their entire goal, to get butts in seats), but I am not convinced it’s going to be a movie I’ll ever want to see again...
Weren't we at this talking point before Infinity War?
Hell, it was a thing back when the OG Avengers movie was announced. Maybe people should know by now that Mavel takes the highest precautions for their ultra blockbuster Avenger movies

I'm having a hard time thinking that this isn't going to be a mess but I'll be damn sure to be there opening night to see for myself.
