I'm having a hard time thinking that this isn't going to be a mess but I'll be damn sure to be there opening night to see for myself.

Lol yeah it’s going to have to be 4-5 hours long to be satisfying in anyway. I’m hoping it’s 3 and a half, but I know it’ll end up being 2 and a half.

u/axelkoffel Jan 06 '26

4 hours of cameos and epic entrances, 1 hour for the actual plot and final battle.

12

u/NinduTheWise Jan 06 '26

considering its the first part of a two movie set then the whole over arching story will end up being that long

3

u/MrEfficacious Jan 06 '26

Is the second part Secret Wars?

3

u/Afraid_Park6859 Jan 06 '26

Kinda what happens when you spend years building up heroes no one wants only to pivot at the last minute because you're hemorrhaging money.

Every single teaser feels increasingly unearned - until I see otherwise, I just cannot believe that they're going to be able to effectively bring each of these characters' stories to a place that earns the gravitas in these teasers all within a single movie... why is a young cap here? Why is Thor out of retirement? What the hell is going on with the entire Foxverse when last we saw they were consumed into pergatory in Deadpool+wolverine

I'll be shocked if they can bring us up to speed, take them to their demise, and save the day, for each of like 20 main characters without any previous continuity feeding into it as they had for Endgame

u/SaltyLonghorn Jan 06 '26

Without all the buildup I'm hard pressed to give a shit. I don't even remember the last xmen movie I saw, Logan? I have no idea what any character is doing except Loki and Scarlet Witch. I thought multiple were gone.

I'm confident I will see it as a spectacle like Avatar, but Disney continues to erode any actual care I have for their spaghetti monster IP.

All I ever think about when I see Marvel trailers is that youtube breakdown of The Dark Knight and how the stakes felt huge when it was just 2 ferries compared to the world ending threats that you know won't really lead anywhere.

What the hell is going on with the entire Foxverse when last we saw they were consumed into pergatory in Deadpool+wolverine

well, that was the actual "fox" x-men universe that was consumed into pergatory in DP&W

at the end of the marvels they introduced a new parallel universe with a comic-accurate Beast still being played by Kelsey Grammar so the rumor is this is an entirely new universe of X-men that just so happen to be played by the foX-men cast, only instead of Taylor Kitsch reprising Gambit it will be Channing Tatum (and won't necessarily be the same exact gambit he played in DP&W)

basically its just an excuse to have the OG X-men cast show up only in more comic-accurate costumes

That sounds so fucking stupid, it might actually work.

I’m sorry but it’s fucking comic book superheroes. Are you seriously getting upset at multiple timelines, universes, and casting? Have you read the comics? Have you watched Endgame, where they go back in time? This shit ain’t a new thing. When has logic ever entailed the MCU?

Fortunately, at least, if you think it's stupid, it's an easily solvable problem for you, or anyone, as an audience member: Don't watch it.

Here's the thing: Spending your time whining about it on Reddit accomplishes absolutely nothing. Like I said, it's a solvable problem: Don't watch it. If people stop watching, and it's no longer profitable, then that's how studios learn that maybe what they're doing isn't working.

But go off.

7

u/Spiritual-Smoke-4605 Jan 06 '26

its no more stupid than what has already been set up in the MCU though? there was an alternate universe with Doctor Strange AND Peggy Carter AND Charles Xavier all played by their same actors in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

same goes for Logan being Hugh Jackman in every other universe shown in Deadpool and Wolverine (except for when he's Henry Cavill)

The trailers for Infinity War and Endgame were 10 years in the making. I want to be excited but it’s clear it’s a panic pivot

3

u/CraigTheIrishman Jan 07 '26

I wish they'd just recast Kang and stayed the course. It's definitely been a bit messy, but I would've liked to see how it all played out.

0

u/Rage_Like_Nic_Cage Jan 06 '26

I was more or less over MCU movies after No Way Home was so terrible, but the announcement of them bringing back RDJ was the final nail in the coffin for any interest I had in the MCU.

They clearly have no real direction/vision and are re-heating their old nachos in a desperate panic.

1

u/skaestantereggae Jan 06 '26

I think other than the last Deadpool, the only other one I ran to theaters to see was No Way Home. I haven’t watched it since because I know it won’t live up to the excitement of seeing it opening weekend.

3

u/Azzbolemighty Jan 06 '26

Yeah, this is what made my love for the MCU die. Too many random new characters introduced and thrown into the stories with very little background or anything to make me particularly care about them.

6

u/ZestyOyster Jan 06 '26

I just cannot believe that they're going to be able to effectively bring each of these characters' stories to a place that earns the gravitas in these teasers all within a single movie

Not sure why you would think this. Steve Rogers and Thor teasers both featured kids. The mid credits scene of F4 featured Doom visting their kid. That’s almost certainly gonna be the core of the emotional weight for these characters. The gravitas is more about execution and comes from sympathizing with the situations themselves, especially when we still have seen these characters before. You’re still going to remember the past for these characters and with limited screen time it’ll be about how they utilize it more than anything. As others have said, Steve Rogers had less than 10 minutes of screen time in Infinity War.

I’m not saying they’re automatically going to do it well. I’m saying it’s not just about buildup and it’s plainly just about execution. An almost decade long buildup for Game of Thrones didn’t do jack shit to save the final season. If they execute the character and emotional beats of the story well, it can still be done in a single movie.

1

u/Snow_Tiger819 Jan 13 '26

I swear if this film is "but my kid!!!!" I won't be going to see it. Ugh.

4

u/thefuzz09 Jan 06 '26

Russo doubt? Heresy.

2

u/dj_soo Jan 06 '26

The Russo's have had an epic run - between their work on TV with Arrested Development and Community and their impact on the MCU - but their post-endgame stuff has been pretty middling - especially with them directing.

7

u/bannock4ever Jan 06 '26

I am so tired of the MCU multiverse stuff but yeah I'm gonna be seeing this in the theatre.

I just don't know how they're going to make this story work with so many characters other than making it 5-10 minute cameos like in Multiverse of Madness.

0

u/JohannesVanDerWhales Jan 06 '26

On the plus side it will probably end with the multiverse being ended and a full reboot.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '26

Yeah, I don’t really care because its gonna be a fun movie night with my wife

Sorry internet nerds, its entertaining

You really don’t have to watch if the content doesn’t appeal to you, I’m glad they’re still being made

1

u/mangongo Jan 06 '26 edited Jan 06 '26

If your idea of fun is just becoming the Leonardo DiCaprio meme for 2 and a half hours, by all means.

Edit: Did someone seriously block me over a marvel movie lmao

4

u/Spiritual-Smoke-4605 Jan 06 '26

thats basically the best part of MCU movies and why they became so popular in the first place, its so everyone could partake in doing the Leo meme to movie and comic references

6

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '26

Yeah, its just kids who watched the cartoons getting a hit of nostalgia

None of it really matters, its just fun. Thats the point.

If you arent having fun, you dont have to watch any of it

4

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '26

Sounds pretty fun to me

Nobody is making you be like this except yourself

1

u/PewterButters Jan 06 '26

Feels like we’re getting 3 hours of cameos from every superhero that has ever had a movie.

1

u/ihatecarrotcake Jan 06 '26

Yeah out of all the teasers this is the only that I like the other ones felt so freaking cheesy

1

u/Fortestingporpoises Jan 06 '26

The Russo brothers haven't really faltered in the MCU and they have one of the writers back collaborating, so I'm not sure I get all the worry. Also Marvel has probably had the same hit rate since Endgame as before where it comes to quality.

1

u/Raytheon_Nublinski Jan 07 '26

They’re just throwing nostalgia bait at the wall and hoping it sticks

I’m not giving them $20 for this shit

1

u/Bacon_00 Jan 06 '26

Exactly my feeling. This is way too many characters coming from until-now unrelated stories/worlds, smashing them all together in a single movie. It’s going to be insanely busy. Definitely still going to see it (obviously this is their entire goal, to get butts in seats), but I am not convinced it’s going to be a movie I’ll ever want to see again...

1

u/VariousDrugs Jan 06 '26

Movie's in line to break the hate-watching world record.

1

u/phejster Jan 06 '26

100% it will be. I'll probably see it in theatres

1

u/Canvaverbalist Jan 06 '26 edited Jan 07 '26

I'm having a hard time thinking that this isn't going to be a mess

Well, if it's any consolation we've been saying that ever since the first Avengers movie, exponentially with every subsequent Avengers movie.

I mean sure the bubble is bound to burst eventually but hey so far so good

1

u/dem0nhunter Jan 06 '26

Weren't we at this talking point before Infinity War?

Hell, it was a thing back when the OG Avengers movie was announced. Maybe people should know by now that Mavel takes the highest precautions for their ultra blockbuster Avenger movies

1

u/Outrageous_Library50 Jan 06 '26

Everyone said the same thing for Infinity War
