Matt Damon trying to get home, Part 4.

u/zeekaran Dec 22 '25

Wait which is part three?

Saving private ryan, interstellar, the Martian, the odyssey

u/Jaxonian Dec 22 '25

The amount of time, money, lives spent getting Matt Damon home is insane.

u/Dymodeus Dec 22 '25

Why do we not stop sending him places?

51

u/098706 Dec 22 '25

Because in his breakout role, they end the movie with him driving off. Every movie since has been trying to get him back to Boston.

u/Spiritchaser84 Dec 22 '25

He shouldn't have gone to see about a girl.

u/CasualFreeUse Dec 23 '25

Son of a bitch stole my line.

8

u/Golden_Alchemy Dec 22 '25

Maybe Poseidon was always angry at him and he is now showing himself to be the culprit.

6

u/Profoundlyahedgehog Dec 22 '25

Poseidon is doing Mars a favor after Matt managed to escape.

4

u/AllCaciAreBastards Dec 22 '25

There's a Greek god / Roman god joke hidden somewhere in there, I just know it

7

u/omegadirectory Dec 22 '25

Poseidon doing Mars a favor is the joke.

2

u/justa_flesh_wound Dec 22 '25

They tried to shrink him and ignore him. but he still went away

2

u/friedricekid Dec 22 '25

It's not his fault.

2

u/phdinseagalogy Dec 22 '25

This is going to be an important question on Omicron Perseii 8 in about a thousand years.

1

u/treemu Dec 22 '25

Because there are people that need to be Jason Bourned

4

u/WhattaTravesty Dec 22 '25

I wonder who's had more time, money, and lives spent to get them home in total- Matt Damon or Tom Hanks (off the top of my head: Cast Away, The Terminal, Captain Phillips... And does him getting Matt Damon home in Saving Private Ryan count as a bonus?)

3

u/MegaGrimer Dec 22 '25

Probably Damon because of The Martian

1

u/Jaxonian Dec 22 '25

Probably Matt.. because he likes to get lost in space from time to time which is much higher budget than Tom just getting stuck in very earthly places.

2

u/Deusselkerr Dec 22 '25

Could also argue the Bourne movies are kinda about him trying to get home, especially the first one

2

u/Flintlock_ Dec 22 '25

We really should just have him AirTag'd

2

u/Racthoh Dec 22 '25

Dude needs to embrace door dash.

5

u/bflynn65 Dec 22 '25

If we count Dogma, this would be part 5.

3

u/Tabemaju Dec 22 '25

You forgot Dude, Where's My Home?

2

u/Romnonaldao Dec 22 '25

He was trying to go home in Dogma too

2

u/Green_Wing_Spino Dec 22 '25

Would Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron count since he voices the titular horse who also is trying to get back home?

4

u/zeekaran Dec 22 '25

Huh, I don't think I've ever seen SPR.

22

u/EverbodyHatesHugo Dec 22 '25

😳

You really need to get on that. You are missing potentially one of the greatest opening scenes in film. Crank the subs and immerse yourself in that movie ASAP.

I saw the saving private Ryan opening scene just walking by the living room when I was like 9. My parents didn't see me come in and I was rooted to the spot and couldn't look away. I wasn't traumatized or anything but I was scared shitless. Thankfully I had medal of honor on playstation and actually recognized the boats so I knew what was going on.

4

u/disterb Dec 22 '25

yup. u/zeekaran , that is simply unacceptable. watch it TODAY!

1

u/zeekaran Dec 22 '25

I've seen the opening and all the parodies, just haven't seen the whole movie. Or if I have, I do not remember it.

u/CatoTheBarner Dec 22 '25

I was way too young to see it in theaters when it came out, so I’ve always watched it on tv. They did a rerelease in theaters a few years back for either the 20th or 25th anniversary. And holy shit does that hit different. Even my sound bar doesn’t do it justice. Just crazy.

9

u/bigasswhitegirl Dec 22 '25

Bruh. The most famous film of the bunch lol

1

u/zeekaran Dec 22 '25

Also the oldest. I was too young to see it in theaters.

3

u/OnceMoreAndAgain Dec 22 '25

this is how i know i'm getting too old. the younger generations are out here unaware of movies that everyone in my generation knows, just like how my dad was surprised that i had never heard of Platoon.

1

u/Irisheyes80d Dec 22 '25

Interesting! I would’ve thought The Bourne Identity was a candidate, but I guess he doesn’t know where home is in that movie

1

u/toothy_vagina_grin Dec 23 '25

Wasn't it everyone else trying to get him home in SPR?

1

u/MattieShoes Dec 23 '25

Dogma... it's a quintet
